While driving home from the grocery store, the dome lights and gate open warning light came on. Since it was after dark, the light from the dome light was blinding and made it very difficult to see. I immediately pulled over and checked the tailgate. The tailgate and window were both firmly latched. When starting to drive again, it went out but almost immediately came back on. Fortunately I was about a mile from home and made it home without incident. This should be reported to the NHTSA as a potential crash problem as the bright light suddenly coming on could cause an accident. I know there are some other electrical recalls for this model and year Jeep and this should be added to the list.

I knoticed the light flashing on and off while driving into town, it was a cloudy day and the lights had come on automatically, it has happened several times since this and I am concerned about a short in the system which could cause a fire and do a lot of damage to vehicle or myself.

As I was leaving work, I started up my Jeep and the flashers started flashing by themselves. After about 5 minutes of turning the Jeep on and off, turning the hazard switch on and off, it finally stopped. A few weeks later, for the 5th time, my Jeep refused to start after a stop at the local pharmacy. The horn has not worked for about a year now, and right before it died, it would honk randomly whether the Jeep was parked, key in the ignition or not. It has also stalled a few times on the freeway. Dealer has recommended replacement of the tipm and says that this is a common occurrence.

My daughter was driving and a truck in front of her stopped quickly causing my daughter to slam on brakes to avoid a collision but ended up rear ending the truck. Her airbag deployed and her Jeep had to be towed from the site. It has been in the shop since 4/28/14 and was repaired except for the clock spring which is necessary for the new airbag. We have been told that this part is no longer produced or manufactured by any vendor in the country. Therefore, our Jeep cannot be released to us which has caused a hardship on our family as well as a hardship for the shop manager as he cannot be paid until the car is released. Because of this I believe that anyone driving a 2006 Jeep Liberty in the country is possibly at risk due to this device not being readily available in the proper supply channels.

Simply rolled up my window then it stopped and window fell down. Took off the door panel to examine and the cable still moved but made a lot of noise and window didn't move. This is the second time I've had this issue. I replaced the rear passenger window regulator when I purchased the car and now that one is messed up also. The one that recently broke is the front right window. Also my head lamp is showing issue with not coming on and I've already tested the stirring column switch.
I own a stock 2007 Jeep libery with the 3. 7l v6 and automatic transmission. While driving home the vehicle shut off unexpectedly on a busy five lane 50 mph road. As I coasted into a driveway I saw heavy dark black smoke pouring from under the hood. As I opened the hood there was 5-6 inch flames on most of the stock wiring under the hood. The positive cable that runs under the engine rubbed under the engine until it shorted on the grounded engine block shorting out the electrical system. The fire department showed up and put out the fire and cut the negative cable to stop the outbreak of another fire. All of the cables are now melted and burned together. The repair estimate is close to $5000 without fixing what actually caused the problem, just fixing the melted wires. The fire was started by stock wires on a stock vehicle. The vehicle was taken to parkway before we bought it and went through completely "fixing anything and everything that was wrong or bad with the vehicle. " they clearly missed this major problem that could have killed two teenagers. I have already contacted Chrysler about this problem and they told me this was not their fault. I believe it is, and I want to fix the problem before it does kill someone. I am open to phone calls, I am open to emails anyone you want to contact me would be perfect. I can meet you at the dealership or anywhere you please. I will travel, tell me what actions need to be done and they will be done. There is a lot more of information that can be obtained and will be avalible on demand.

I have had my Jeep since it was new. In the beginning my radio would cut off or lock up and I hade it tested and nothing was found. Then my espoff, 4wd, service, 4 wd low light would come on and go off. I took it in and was not charged because noting showed up. But the mechanic said he had heard of others had the same complaint. Then while I was driving at night at approximately 65 mph I started to roll my window up and the lift gate light came on and all the lights inside the vehicle came on and I could not adjust or turn them off. This has happened now 3 times and it is a definite safety concern when all the lights and a vehicle comes on while driving at night.

Februray 26, 2012 8;30 am . I had been driving Jeep Liberty for about 2 hours, parked in parking lot, went shopping , started up,and was driving my Jeep Liberty and notice smoke in the vehicle then I noticed a burning yellow smoke and flames coming from my drivers side door control panel , as quickly as I could I stopped Jeep into parking lot , at that time my windows where malfunctioning and the vehicle was fully engulfed with yellow smoke ,turned vehicle off could not get seat belt unhooked, turned switch on put in park and then got seat belt unhook pulled keys out of ignition climb over to passenger side door to open door and then opened driver side door and threw snow and water on door to put fire out. . . Stood there in shock for a moment, second time I drove wifes vehicle and it caught on fire 5 months old!!! noticed that the smoke in the vehicle was starting to dispensed and clearing out . Noticed window switches had melted and sank into door, burned fingers openening driver side door. Reached in and turned key back on ,at that point the vehicle started to smoke again , threw the window and speaker of drivers side door ,turned key off threw more water in door panel and again smoke slowly dispensed . I was moments from entering a interstate and the thought of what would have happened to myself if I would have not been able to get off the road in time !! I have been a master mechanic for 30 years and have never seen such a thing happen in any type of vehicle before. I took vehichle to dealer ,Jeep Chrysler was contacted ,dealership monkeys acussed me of jamming some thing in switch, what a bunch of crap. . Jeep said they could not do anything to claim it on my insurance !!!!!! dealer ship is trying to force Jeep too look at problem this vehicle is only 5 mos old and this should have never happened. I'm glad to see this problem regesterd with you.
I've been driving my Jeep around to work and home everyday and I notice the passenger air bag light flashes where it says it's off. Today 2/17/2013 I drove 100 miles from a small trip and the light was on the entire time I was driving. I haven't had any accidents.
The airbag light on my daughters Jeep Liberty remains on at all times.
My friend and I just finished having lunch at restaurant. It was snowing really bad, I brushed snow off and I pressed the left passenger button to let window down so that I can see and the window would not come back up. My friend and I got out of the Jeep and pushed window up with our hand. But when I drive it falls down, really bad during the summer time. Driving to work one day and the esp, bas and tcs light all come on. Eventually went off but after 4 mins lights came back on.
Our Jeep has taken to flashing the headlamps and/or the fog lamps off at any time. When searching the internet for likely causes, we found that this is a very common occurance and complaints to Chrysler dealers are ignored. A very unsafe condition.
Check engine light come on and gas cap light also come on the auto start will not work & dash light gets real dime also gps light get real dime/ and there is a real strong smell of gas that comes inside the vehicle while going down the road. Light turn off & on random, for a second. Not safe to be driven at night.
All lights on veh flickered off for about 1-2 sec turned on and then quick flicker then on again and remained on. The first time I thought it was a fluke then it occured a total of 3 other times within the year. Last was just recently 1/20/2013 and it shut off for a longer period of time maybe 3-4 sec. I was distance traveling on a high traffic highway at night and now see the safety concerns. Since the first occurance I have replaced the battery. The entire light panel inside the vehicle as well as the exterior lights are affected. Other issues I have experienced since owning the veh in 2002 is the side passenger power lock no longer functions, still does not function. I have had to replace the passenger rear window regulator. In 2007, the glass just fell down one day did not break. Placed a stick in door panel to hold up glass and finally replaced it in 2011.
While driving my 2002 Jeep Liberty, the high beam lights click on and off automatically for a few seconds. This has happened a few times on different dates. Now recently I was going around a corner and my interior lights came on, then shut off. Also (may be unrelated) when I turn the volume up or down on the radio the power to the radio/cd unit shuts off then comes back on.
The light flash on and off. Air bag light still on, the power window of bag door don,t work, the rear cargo door don,t open, the stopper rubber close the schock absorber (front) blow away, etc etc etc are factory deffects all, the lyberty is a junk, the cia should take back and refund the money.
1) wiring harness failed--rear lights not operable/functional. Vehicle crash possible because car not visible by other drivers at night. 2) gear shift sticks causing inability to put car in park. Roll-away imminent. Causing crash.
Rear taillights have had to be replaced at least 10 times since I purchased this vehicle in 2007. The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that when she attempted to make a left turn, the lights on the instrument panel blinked on and off intermittently. The failure began approximately one year ago. In addition, the interior lights blinked on and off when she accelerated in any direction and at any speed. She was also unable to lock the vehicle once she exited because the locking mechanism was inoperable. As a result, the vehicle was left unattended and unlocked. The dealer had not been notified. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure however, they did not offer any assistance. No repairs were performed. The current mileage was 60,000 and the approximate failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2002 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated the vehicles interior and head lights were flickering off and on. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. Head lights (2002 Jeep Liberty )blink on and off by themselves.
All lights, (including headlamps), intermittently turn off. This has happened 3 times already, all at night while driving 65-70 mph on the highway. The first occurrence was around July, 2009. The last occurrence was last night, June 7, 2010. Nothing but pitch blackness when they went off. Had to try to steer car to side of road. If you turn the headlamp on/off a few times or jiggle the control it will turn on/off and then stay on. This is pretty dangerous. This is my daughter's car and I will not let her drive it anymore as a result.
I own a Jeep Liberty 2004 lights flicker on and off sporadically happens about two times a week. Most times it tends to happen either rainy or humid days (early morning).
Check engine light on and off.
My airbag light intermittently comes on and off and after reading some stuff online they have been deployed even when there's been no accident so I'm very concerned about this matter also my overheads lights periodically have been coming on and off for years.
Electrical harness.
The lights on my Jeep Liberty turn completely off while driving. The driver must turn on and off the lights to get them to come back on. There is a clicking sound when the problem occurs as if the lights are turning off based on a timer or something. Hard to reproduce this issue, therefore its been hard to diagnose.
I have 2008 Jeep Liberty. The problem 1) the defrosters are to centrally located and do not clear ice and snow off the entire windshield. 2) the front turning signals get covered with snow and need to be cleaned off everytime there is any snow. The snow lays on the front bumper and covers the turning signals. Both of these are hazards.
