Headlights Problems of Jeep Liberty - part 2

Where to begin? my airbag light has been coming on for months while driving. I took it to a Chrysler dealership 6 months ago & was charged $100 for them to tell me they didn't know what was wrong. About a month ago, while driving on the highway, my headlights went out, came back on, went out again, and finally I hit my high beams and they stayed on. My engine uses about 2 quarts of oil per week. I have parked on clean surfaces & there is no oil leaking, but it is going somewhere. I can hear a ticking noise coming from the engine area. I called Chrysler's toll-free number today after the headlights went out again, and was informed that my Jeep is under recall for the air bag module, and maybe that is what is causing the lights to go out. This makes no sense to me that one would have anything to do with the other. I told them that I have seen other complaints about the headlights, but they stated that they've had no complaints. I have also replaced front tires three times in the past year for wear on the outside edge. I've had the Jeep aligned, tires rotated as they should be, and they just keep balding on the outer edge. The service tech said that Jeeps eat through tires because of the wheel base? this car has all but eaten up most of my income. It is constantly having issues, and I get nowhere with Chrysler.

While driving my headlights began to turn on and off by themselves. I hear the click click like they are being turned on or off but it is happening on it's own. This has no happened multiple times and currently I can not drive it at night or during bad weather. It happens in rapidly the cars around think I am flashing lights at them. Very dangerous!.

Driving at night when I heard clicking noises near fuse panel left side of steering wheel column; shortly thereafter headlights flashed on and off for approximately 10 seconds. Problem became intermittent but usually occurred while driving at night. Clicking noises persist near fuse panel and headlights flash off and on. Dealership unable to duplicate problem as they said they have not heard of this particular problem, but they tried swapping headlamp relay with driver's door lock relay. However, this solution did not fix the problem. In fact, clicking noises are now heard every time I drive my Jeep, and the headlights continue to randomly flash on and off. The problem now occurs during the day with headlights on as well as at night. This problem has not yet caused an accident, but driving at night with random flashing headlights creates a safety problem with my visibility and other vehicles on the road. Another area of concern deals with the potential responses from other drivers that believe I am flashing them for an aggressive reason. I found online discussions from others Jeep owners experiencing the same problem, but I have not been able to locate how to fix the problem. Random flashing headlights, out of the control of the driver, presents a huge saefty risk and should be investiaged.

Headlights turn off for a few seconds then back on while speeding up and braking.

The headlights flick on and off while driving. I can hear the headlight relay clicking when the lights cycle on and off. This is a significant safety issue and based upon the number of complaints should be addressed by Jeep.

On 3-16-12, speedometer, headlights, power locks stop functioning. The car turn off on its own. Airbag signal come on and off. Checked all fuses and there is no problem there. Connected it to an obdii reader and nothing if found.

For approximately 1yr, the headlights on my Jeep Liberty sport 2004 have been flickering on and off. It use to happen only once and awhile and they would go right back on and then stay on. However recently I have been unable to drive my Jeep at night because the headlights constantly go on and off on me and sometimes stay off.

While the headlights are on in my 2002 Jeep Liberty they randomly flicker off and on. It's not just one quick click of and on, but it is always a random, numerous pattern of fast clicks off and on. Furthermore, you can not force the replication. This is a huge safety hazard. Sometimes a car turning left in front of me thinks I'm signaling them to go ahead in front of me. Other times at night, they lights just go off for a few seconds and you are driving blind.

Headlights will turn off without warning at various times while driving. Interior lights remain on. Lights may flash on and off up to 4 times within a few seconds. Occurs in hot and cold weather, regardless of bumps in road, may happen just after starting to drive or after many miles. Click sound will be heard inside car when lights go out. Lights may remain off for nearly a second before coming back on. Jeep dealership unable to locate issue, told me to return when lights go out and stay out.

For over two years, my headlights have flickered. Several instances are rapid fire, a few have been for several seconds. A relay type sound will indicate that it is clicking off and on as well. No interior lights are effected. I do not drive my Jeep at night, if at all possible. If I do, I travel as close to a tractor trailer, as I can safely get. I will not drive the car out of town anymore. I reported the issue to my dealer's service department, who claimed they have never heard of the problem.

Headlights go out and hear clicking noise. This is a dangerous flaw. This is intermittient and the dealer can not seem to find the problem. In doing research there is a lag\rge history of this exact problem on the Jeeps from years 2002-2004. The lights finally came on but on a dark curvey hill with cliffs could have caused a injury or fatal crash.

While driving whith headlights on. Headlights with flicker on and off intermittently. It occurs randomly every night. Problem has been hard to diagnose and no repair available.

Ever since my issue with the headlights and foglights turning on/off began, I have a constant relay clicking noise to the left side of my steering wheel and my idling rpm's dropped.

The headlights on my Jeep turn themselves on and off randomly. When the lights turn on and off there is a "clicking" noise inside the car near the drivers seat/dashboard. This has been happening since October/November 2010 and after several mechanics have tried to troubleshoot there has been no way to rectify and diagnose the problem since it is an intermittent issue. When driving my 2002 Jeep Liberty the headlights flicker on and off and sometimes turn off completely. While flickering I hear a clicking noise. To get the lights back on I have to turn them off and on or turn on fog lamps.

2004 Jeep Liberty- the headlights will turn off and then back on while driving and there is an audible clicking sound when this happens. It started happening about two years ago. The vehicle now has about 60,000 miles on it. We have had the car to the dealer and an independent mechanic and they both say they can not determine intermittent problems. I just googled about this problem and it is amazing how many Jeep owners have experienced this same problem.

Another (related?) action started happening at the same time, also intermittent engine will shut off while driving. Engine will usually restart but not idle without holding the gas pedal down. After turning off and waiting a short time the engine will start and idle fine for a matter of minutes or days.

2002 Jeep Liberty. Bought new. One owner. At approx 70,000 miles headlights began turning off and on by themselves at random - no pattern whatsoever. Very dangerous at night due to suddenly you are driving in the dark and also other drivers (or even worse police officers) think you are flashing your lights at them. No one has been able to duplicate, find, or fix this problem. Now at 81,000 miles and have to try and drive mostly during the day - very inconvenient and not always possible. I have read many complaints about the same problem so there needs to be a recall and this needs to be fixed ASAP.
