There have been several occasions now when my Jeep has slowed to a complete stop while driving on the highway. It starts with a high whining noise then the coolant light comes on followed by my Jeep losing the ability to accelerate. The highway speed is 75 mph and this makes for a very dangerous situation. Jeep can be held accountable for any accident or injury that occurs during this malfunction.

When accelerating the car occassionally would act like it wanted to go, then slowly start to shift to move. There would be a whining noise when slowing down, but no lights came on until 2 days before. The contact owns a 2009 Jeep Patriot 4x4. While driving 60 mph, the temperature gauge light illuminated, the vehicle started losing power and made a whining noise. The contact had to coast the vehicle to the side of the road. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed, but there was no failure code. The cause of the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.
