Takata recall I was driving my 2016 Jeep Patriot when it stared making a noise and shutter then lost power and stalled in the middle of the road. The car steering locked up when trying to steer car to side of road. The traction light came on right before it stalled and lost power.

My car stalled after being parked for 45 min. In a parking lot of a local store, as I attempted to back out of the space. I restarted it and as I tried to back out, while moving only a foot or so, it stalled again. It made no sound at all while turning the key, but all the electronics worked, ie. Lights, windows, radio, etc. It would not restart, after multiple attempts, I left it there over night and the next day it restarted, and I drove it for about a couple of minutes to the end of the lot where it stalled again while moving about 5 mph. It would not restart, so I had it towed to a shop where a friend works. They could not find the cause, but did get a code for the ecu/ecm. I don't know what number the error code was, but they don't do those types of repairs. It remains in their lot at this time as I try to figure out my next step. It is a Jeep Patriot sport (2. 4 l) automatic with only 17,500 actual miles.

My car was parked at home in parking lot. I used car earlier during the morning and had no problems with it. During the afternoon I went outside to crank car and it started with no problems. I then realized I forgot something in my home and turned car off took key out the ignition and went to retrieve what I had forgotten. I came back out not even 30 seconds, attempted to crank car and the dash board lights, ac came on, but car would not crank. It made no noise to indicate it was trying to turn over nothing. After trying a few times I called geico to have someone come out to possibly jump start the car, but that person tested the battery, oil, alternator, and started and said none of them were a problem. I then ordered a tow truck thru geico, he arrived about an hour later and he immediately sat in vehicle and car cranked with no problems. The engine light on dash also disappeared. The next day I took the vehicle to have it checked again and I have a print out that shows that neither the battery, starter, alternator or engine oil were a factor. I haven't had any other issues with the car cranking since that day. No one seems to know why it would not start.
One morning I tried to turn on my vehicle and it would not start. Got a friend to come out to try and jump start it and after about 30 min it was successful. Two days later I had the same issue. Tried to jump the car again with no success. Replaced the battery but did not help. All the electrical componemts inside the car (radio, lights, ect) were still functional but engine would not start or even make a sound like it was attempting to start. Jeep was towed to a local mechanic and he could not figure out the issue after 1. 5 weeks of trying to figure out what was wrong. I then towed it to a Jeep dealership and he stated that he didnt know what was wrong with it. He removed the plastic coverings over the engine and stated they are just for looks and dont need to be there and cleaned some wires near the drivers side wheel well and the vehicle was able to start. Later while driving my Jeep started to act strange. Randomly all the lights on the dash board would turn on, the guages went all the way to zero then back up to normal the radio would shut off and turn back on and the car would feel like it was about to stall. Later, the same thing happened except this time the lights stayed on engine was still running but could not accelerate my vehicle and power steering went out. I then would have to pull my Jeep to the side of the road turn it off let it set for a little then it would start back up fine. This happened about 5 times over the course of a couple weeks. When it wasnt happening and I was driving the Jeep around normally the check battery light would always turn on after about 5 to 10 min after drivimg the vehicle. Occasionally the check oil light will also turn on. I have still foumd mp solution to these problems amd it continues to happen. It makes it very unsafe to drove especially on the highway and in congested areas due to vehicle randomly not working.

I purchased a brand new 2014 Jeep Patriot latitude from marshall Dodge in crittenden (which should be shut down for horrible customer service after purchasing!) was a great car for the first little bit. I can no longer depend on this vehicle on the interstate. At interstate speed (65-70 mph) the car will begin to make a squeal noise and within five minutes I am playing leap frog to get to the emergency lane at max speed of (20 mph) and the vehicle is very jerky. When it does this all fluids in the car are fine, give it about 20 minutes and the car will act normal, but I cannot trust it to get back on the interstate. This has been going on for two years. I've taken it back to the dealership that I purchased it from and their useless extended warranty and nothing gets done! I have continually been told they cannot find any signs via computer it has done anything like this or after keeping it for two weeks driving it and looking it over it has no reason to. It is beginning to happen more frequently and am frustrated I can trust my original vehicle (thankfully I didn't trade it in to that crooked dealership) that has almost 200,000 miles on it, a 2004 scion tc, more than a vehicle I bought brand new that started becoming unreliable with 36,000 miles on it. I feel like I bought a lemon and the dealership doesn't want to fix it. This vehicle cannot be trusted to get to a to b and I feel like I am getting screwed by my Jeep dealership and Jeep. There should be a recall on this, the more I research the more common it is; or Jeep should have to make these vehicles right, because they are extremely dangerous and could cause a major accident on the interstate! if it is never made right you can bet I will never own another Jeep product and I will be sure let my family and friends know just how dangerous they are!.
Purchased 05/15/2015, with 1500 lost acceleration and whining after stop and go, at 2391 lost acceleration and whining after going through toll booth. Telephoned dealer, contacted national, attempted to get in mo, service ctr said no technicians available. Scheduled in nc dealer, sat all day and was told no technicians, changed oil 3509 miles and assured safe. Since delivery constant clunk in rear when changing gears. At 5,000 miles, again, lost acceleration/whining going through toll booth. Took to dealer 6990 miles, kept for 2 days, could not duplicate. Continues with flutter noise though foot pedal line, clunk when changing from park to reverse to drive(clunk). Continue with service, no able to duplicate.

Upon backing out of my driveway, I noticed a vibration and related noise coming from behind the firewall of my Jeep; however, after placing the vehicle in neautral while shifting from reverse to drive the noise went away. Upon placing the vehcile in drive and accelerating to 5-10 miles an hour the vibration and noise, which I can only describe as a idling motorcycle returns. If the Jeep is traveling at a speed under 20 m. Ph. Or sitting in drive at a stop light or stop sign this issue is present. Within about a week of this happening, the Jeep had issues starting. Once the key was placed in the ignition and an attempt to start the care was made, the engine had difficulty starting. It would engine would turnover several times before it would finally start. I can only describe it as the same experience an individual would experience when starting a car after replacing the carburetor. When this occurs the Jeep will stall without aby explination. Of course, when it has been taken to the dealership, they are unable to recreate the problem and explain that there is nothing wrong with the vehicle.
While on the interstate, I was in the fast lane attempting to pass another vehicle when I started to hear this strange noise and I began to lose acceleration and the transmission light with the circle around it came on. It was a very scary thing because I had a car behind me that was very close. I was able to pull over to the shoulder. I pulled out my owners manual to see what was going on. I followed the instructions by putting it in neutral and idling it for a few minutes. It eventually stopped making that noise and the light went out and I started out on my way again. I still had a 2 hour drive left on my trip and I was scared it would happen again before I could get home. I took it to my local Jeep dealership this morning and basically was told there were no sensors lighting up and they couldn't fix the problem if they couldn't replicate it. So I'm left with a car that I can't trust.
