When I fill my tank up with gas, my car will start bucking, often resulting in a stall shortly after. It doesn't matter if it's completely full or if I only put ten dollars in the tank. It is usually when I am slowing down or when I slow and then try to accelerate but never when I'm already slowed down, it's usually when I am going the speed limit it can be anywhere between 30-60mph. It has broken down twice on a major highway where I live called us 19 and I legitimately felt like I could have lost my life in both situations had other drivers not been paying attention, so many cars came close to hitting me I'm terrified to drive my car now. It also stalled several times on side roads with heavy traffic and once or twice on roads with not much traffic. I believed maybe it was the throttle body but it's not throwing any codes. Since it is usually when I put gas in, I'm now thinking it maybe be an issue with the fuel injector, some sort of sensor in the gas tank or something along those lines. It is currently at the dealership getting looked at but they are having a hard time recreating the issue, it really should be a recall before someone loses their life. Gas pump keeps clicking off when fueling. Mechanic tested evap system and stated vehicle needs a new fuel tank. The Jeep has 62,000 miles on it and has been well maintained. This is an unusual repair and is extremely high in cost. I believe this should be included and covered with the other fuel tank recalls on Jeep Patriots.

The vehicle suddenly and unexpectedly stalls while driving, following a fill up of the fuel tank. The engine shuts off, and all power is lost, including power steering and power brakes. Requires attempting to coast the vehicle to a safe stop. This is a safety concern as there have been several occasions where we were almost rear ended due to having to stop in the roadway. Requires waiting briefly, and then the vehicle may restart, however, it will also stall out again until the fuel level in the tank decreases. It has been brought to my attention that this is occurring on many Jeep Patriot and compass models over many model years.

After refueling my vehicle, shortly thereafter (within a few minutes) my 2008 Jeep Patriot stalls when ideling or traveling at lower speeds. Most recently the stall happened when merging onto a main road and could have resulted in a very serious accident. This is a very common occurrence in 2008 Jeep Patriots and needs to addressed sooner rather than later. Most remedies seem to be a rep lament of the fuel tank and vapor canister.

Issue is I cannot fuel tank due to fuel tank valve stuck. I just had the esim replaced because that was what the dealer said was the issue. Problem wasn't resolved and now I have to replace fuel tank. I saw where there were other vehicles experiencing this same issue and were recalled.

Approximately 12/2018 I had to have my gas tank replaced due to a faulty rollover valve/flapper/inlet check valve located in the gas tank. I am now having the same problem with the new gas tank. The cost to repair this problem is well over $1400 and to have to do the same repair twice is unthinkable. This has to be some sort of safety issue as well, because if these valves/flappers are supposed to expel air from the system, couldn't this be harming my vehicle more and/or cause pressure to build in the tank? there was TSB 14-001-09 rev a issued. Chrysler admits this is a big problem and has recalled a bunch of Jeeps, dodges, and some Chrysler town & country vans. However, my make and model (08 Patriot) is not covered under the extended warranty they issued for the gas tanks.

When fueling, gas pump shuts off after ~1pint, must wait to drain down, another pint click off, drain down, another pint, wait to drain down- takes about 15 minutes to fill tank. Engine stutters on acceleration, rpm's drop 500-1000, probably fuel delivery related. All coils, plugs, filters replaced, injectors cleaned.

When I try to put gasoline in my car, the pump keeps shutting off. This is very frustrating. I have tried different gasoline stations. Had this problem before, but now it is worse every time I try to put fuel in the tank. I contacted the dealer, they told me no recall for for my Jeep.

As several other 2012 Jeep Patriot 4x4 owners have noted, it takes me forever to fill my tank - pump keeps clicking off. This started at about 70,00 miles - I now have 80,00 miles on it. Of course my vehicle, which I purchased new, was not part of the recall to replace the faulty fuel tank transfer tube. Even if I pay out of pocket to have this repaired I know this is not the real problem as others have noted - it is a problem with the gas tank vent system which would necessitate the replacement of the whole gas tank. C'mon Chrysler, please admit this is a problem and do the right thing. If not, I will not be purchasing any future Chrysler vehicles.

Valve in filler neck will not allow fuel to enter tank.

After fueling tank car will stall and or shut off while driving . Loss of power and steering will do this 2 to 3 times driving after fueling then will hesitate while driving happens after every fill . Lasts 1 to 2 days. Just got this car used found online happens often poss due to faulty tank rollover valve.

After fueling the Jeep it stalls when the next idle or two occurs. For example, after fueling, the Jeep is driven and stalls at the first stop light. Sometimes it occurs when trying to pull away from the gas station. It is very dangerous as the steering wheel locks up and you have to stop the vehicle and restart it in traffic. It only happens when fueling the tank to full. This is a safety issue as it could cause an accident pulling out into traffic from the gas station. It happens every time the tank is filled up.

After getting gas I starting driving towards the exit of the gas station. I only made it a few inches when my car started bucking and shaking really bad. My steering wheel locked so I couldn't turn my car out of the way from other drivers. I was also in drive and my car was just not moving. I decided to put it in park and let it sit there for a moment before I try to turn it on again. After about a minute I turn it on and move my car off to the side to get out of everyone's way. Once again the steering wheel locked and my car didn't want to stay on. Many minutes later after shutting it off and turning it back on I was able to drive a little ways down the road before once again my car started bucking really bad and shaking like it was going to shut off on a busy road. I decided to pull into a neighborhood where my steering wheel locked again and every light on my car came on (check engine, oil, tire, etc. . . ). My air was coming out hot and my car smelled really bad. I decided to let my car sit there for awhile and finally after 20 minutes I was able to drive with no problems. I read up on this situation and it seems like a lot of people are having this problem with Jeep Patriots. I can't fill my tank up all the way because I experience these problems.

My vehicle stalls every time after a gas fill up and has been happening every single time for about a year. The wheel locks and the car cuts off in the middle of the road. This is an extremely dangerous problem and happens 100% of the time after I put gas in my car. I did research and it is clear that this is a common problem (see attached link) and there is no solution for it except for a new tank. I do not think it's right to not recall this. It is expensive and not all of us can afford to fix it or buy a new car thus putting our lives and innocent drivers� lives in danger. Please recall this. I have been experiencing the car wanting to stall out. It is as if the gas is not getting to the engine. I begin to lose power and steering. I gun the gas, but it hestitates. This is hugely dangerous. I am the original owner and have serviced it regularly, and to this day only about 44k on it. This is scaring me. My mechanic just put dry gas in to perhaps alleviate any possible water in the tank after a recent fill-up. I have been reading of many others having the same problem. This is time for a recall, folks. Had I not been on back roads, I could be dead, as could others. I will not drive this on the highway and I need actions, as do many others who have complained. We have way too many Jeeps with this problem. Step up, please.

Engine stalls after fueling tank. During acceleration out of gas station, car jerks as it seems the air/fuel ratio is messed up. Car stalls when sitting at light or within a couple miles from the station at idle speed. I've resorted to shifting neutral and revving engine higher to counteract the stall. One instance was knocking/attempting to stall shortly after pulling from gas station, then operated fine on highway, but when exiting the Jeep stalled and lost all power to the system (power steering and brake booster). Waited a minute at light, then restarted and ran fine. Dealer informed me that there likely is a problem with the valve to the vapor canister and it sounds like there is liquid fuel getting in. He had a prompt answer for me, so it seems as if he's answered the question before with other owners.

Every time I refuel the vehicle sputters and stalls. No matter what grade of fuel. It will sputter and stall for up to 20 miles after I fill it up. It has even stalled when pulling into traffic and the steering wheel locks when that happens. It's not safe. The Jeep dealership has been replacing stuff hoping to find a fix but no luck so far. Anytime I fill my gas tank completely, the engine stalls while I am driving, within less than a mile from the gas station. Steering wheel locks and I have to turn off the car, wait 10-20 seconds, then restart the car in order to continue driving.

I was adding gas to the Jeep and the gas spewed out because the cutoff did not work; it is not the gas station's problem because I have used the pump for my car and it cuts off when the tank is full. My son had the same problem at another gas station where there is a defect in the Jeep in that it doesn't cut off the gas when full. This needs to be addressed immediately or I am going to start a class-action lawsuit before someone gets covered in gas.

Purchased from a used car dealership /01/2018 and the first time I went to put gas in the tank it kept cutting off rapidly not allowing me to fill it quickly. I took it to the local Jeep dealer for help and they diagnosed it needed a new fuel tank. At the cost of 1300. 00+ dollars. The fuel neck had previously been replaced but this was not the problem. Now I am stuck with this as I can not afford to fix it.

After the tank is filled to full, I then drive off, and the next time the car comes to a complete stop, the engine cuts out. The car has to be put into park and the engine is able to restart, and this only happens when the tank is full - but it causes the engine to stall out. As long as I don't fill the tank to full, it won't happen. However this has been consistently happening anytime I fill up the tank over the last year and a half.

Every time we fill the gas tank, within a couple miles or less, the engine begins to stall. This is a consistent problem and does not matter when/ where the vehicle is driving. Very dangerous situation as this usually happens in traffic after leaving the gas station.

Vapor/liquid separator valve. Everytime I fill up my gas tank, within a few meters of the gas station my car begins to bucks and stall. Every single time! almost causing multiple accidents. This is an ongoing problem.

Filled up the tank with fuel, when pulling out in traffic the vehicle stalls and then either cuts off or surges causing loss of steering control. This has happened numerous times.

The roll over check valve inside the gas tank gets stuck. If it sticks up it prevents gas tank venting. If it sticks down it allows gas to flow from the vent if the vehicle were to roll over. Mine stuck up. When I disected the tank I had to pry the check valve out. Once I got it out I found it moves freely through 270 degrees, but if you rotate it through the other 90 degrees it gets stuck.

After I fill my gas tank off and drive, the car will stall and shut off. And steering locks up. Almost been in serval accidents because of this issue. Other people have filed about this same issue. Some people say its the vapor/liquid separator valve. Not sure, but regardless, this issue needs to be looked at before someone gets killed because of it. I called the dealership and all they tell me is that I need to replace the fuel tank at my cost.

My car recently developed issues with a faulty fuel tank valve. This makes it difficult to pump gasoline. There was a recall in 2012 Jeep Patriots for this issue (m11). However, my car was not included in the recall.

After everytime I fill the fuel tank full of gasoline. After driving car from station, approximately . 25 mile to 1 mile away. The engine will buck/shutter and stall while in motion at approximately 10-25 miles per hour. The engine experiences extreme loss of power with violent bursts of power. These incidents last ten seconds in duration. When attempting to merge on to highway, with heavy traffic, this can cause quite a bit of stress. This only happens after the fuel tank is filled full.

When my daughter fills this car up with gas, it will stall when she is at stop signs/lights when idling. It has happened while she was trying to make a turn. This is so dangerous. I have seen that this is a known problem with the roll over sensor in the gas tank, and it needs to be a manufacturer recall.

Car gradually stopped taking gas. It would click off and not allow additional gas to be put in. Initially this was at half a tank, then a quarter, then before I could even get the gas light off. The car was evaluated by three different mechanics, all who confirmed it was a gas tank issue identical to recall m11. This issue also effects the safety function which keeps the tank from catching on fire in the event of a rollover accident. We contacted Jeep multiple times, but were told that this recall includes cars manufactured as late as January 2012 but does not include my car which was manufactured in February 2012. Jeep refused to look into the issue further because the car was not included in the recall.

Fuel tank will not accept gas. On most gas pumps the fuel clicks off every o. 25 gallon. The only way to fill the tank is to barely open the fuel nozzle, so the tank fills very slowly. Trouble with that is the fuel doesn't shut off at all. I just fill the tank until it spills out. Jeep wants over $1,600 to replace the fuel tank. I can spill a lot of gas for that price!.

This past month of December '17 my 08 Jeep Patriot 4x4 with only 70,000 mileage had 3 repairs using dealer parts only. Richard grover e-mail dickgrover01@aol. Com phone 865 599-5759 1. Replaced alternator. $400 no recall although significant similar problems noted on line with Jeep product. Please help! had to complete repairs to avoid being stranded.
