1 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2010 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 01/25/2021

Anytime rainfall is experienced, a huge leak occurs coming through the front dome light. It appears this leak is caused by a defect within the drainage tubes attached to the sunroof of the vehicle. Every time this happens, 8oz-12oz of water come splashing down onto the center console from the front dome light. This causes potential damage to the cars radio and power sockets below, as well as a huge visual interference while driving. Each time I am driving during rainfall or shortly after, I must hold a catching device (a cup, etc) to catch the water manually while it is falling from the ceiling, which impairs my ability to drive safely. This seems to be a consistent problem with Jeep Patriots 2007-2017 after doing some research online. This looks to be a manufacture defect. Jeep (Chrysler) does not cover repairs or replacements for this problem.

2 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2015 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 12/04/2020

Driving along at speeds of 35 mph, the engine randomly shut off, locked the steering wheel, and came to a stop. This occurred on a residential street. The next day, the same issue occurred on a state route 28. A manual restart of the vehicle was required each time, and the issue occurs daily. This happened several times at various locations, speeds, times of day, etc. This is a life threatening issue.

3 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2015 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 06/03/2019

At only 16,500 miles 5 speed manual gearbox catastrophic failure. I bought the vehicle in March of 2015 with 6 miles on the odometer. This has happened to numerous other Jeep Patriot owners as well. There are at least 2 dozen or so on 1 internet forum that have had similar failures. The failure of mine happened crossing a busy intersection luckily no one crashed into the car as the shift from 1st to 2nd the car simply revved and would not engage into any gear. The dealership milton ruben Dodge Chrysler Jeep and fca both are claiming clutches are not warranty due to being a consumable wear and tear item. The dealer reportedly found broken pieces of clutch according to the technicians notes. This is an extremely dangerous and discerning failure at such low mileage. There is another report of one failure at only 9600 miles. The dealer also cannot confirm if said pieces found are actually clutch or transmission parts. I have been in contact with fca regarding the matter and they are not much assistance. This matter of gearbox, transmission, clutch failures in Jeep Patriots warrant an investigation. I hope others have reported this issue to you. Dealers are charging consumers $1400. 00 to $2000. 00 dollars to repair a manufactured component that is prematurely breaking putting their consumers and other motorist lives at risk.

4 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2014 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 10/30/2018

When driving on highways and city streets the whole dashboard lights up with all the warning symbols. Everything in the dashboard including the speedomoter resets to zero lights up and then goes off and on for a couple of miles. It sounds like the car system is trying to click on and off or readjust. I then am not able to accelerate above 40mph when the gas pedal is all the way to the floor while driving on highways, city streets and turning. The traction light is on although I do not manually have it on and sputters when turning on city streets and grinds gears and gets stuck not allowing me to accelerate above 20mph. After receiving a diagnostics from a Jeep dealership they said that the above stated issues could be related to the throttle body system. The issues are still occuring after mulptile mechanic checks.

5 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2011 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 04/28/2018

My Jeep Patriot 2011, was driving perfectly fine, I started it up one Saturday afternoon 2 weeks 1 day ago, while driving down the street 15 minutes into my drive, the Jeep immediately stopped accelerating. The engine light, traction control light, and the other one with squiggly lines and brackets with an exclamation mark, came on 30 seconds after it just stopped accelerating. I had to cautiously turn into a parking lot, and I turned off the car. I looked at the manual, and couldn't find anything about what would be wrong. I then looked at google, and saw that alot of people have had the same issue. I turned the car back on, and tried to drive it, it would not accelerate, and would only go approximately 5km/h at best. So I had to have a tow truck come pick up my Jeep and take it to a shop. I have now had 3 shops take a look at it. The first shop replaced the tcm (transmission control module), and said it would fix it. When the part came in and it was put into the Jeep. It didn't fix it. Same issues, absolitely no help. They took another look at it, and they couldn't figure out what was wrong. Costing me 1000. 00 for the part, and their labour. Then I towed it to 2 other shops. They couldn't figure out what's was wrong with it either. Costing me 500$ at both places with no help, and my Jeep still currently will not run!!! I am without a car. My Jeep only has 80,000 km on it!!! and I still owe 3. 5 years worth of payments on it! but it cannot be fixed!!!??? no one can figure out what is wrong with it!!! not even a Jeep/Dodge Chrysler dealership services center!!!.

6 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2009 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 11/12/2014

My Jeep came with a lifetime powertrain warranty at the time I purchased the Jeep in April 2009. I was verbally told at the time of purchase to have the transmission checked before 50,000 miles. I have taken my Jeep into a local dealership a few times over the last few years to have minor things repaired and for normal maintenance. At those times I asked the dealership to check the transmission so I could comply with the warranty. I took my Jeep to the dealership again on 11/12/14 to get a minor problem fixed and I was told that my lifetime powertrain warranty had expired. I was told that since I did not bring my Jeep into the dealership on the 5 year anniversary of purchase (April 2009 - April 2014) to have the transmission inspected, that I failed to comply with the terms of my warranty. I was not aware that I was required to bring my Jeep into the dealership in April 2014 for the inspection. I was told that I could have it inspected anytime before 50,000 miles, which I did multiple times. I called Chrysler and was told that they should have sent me a notice by mail. I never got such a notice. Chrysler failed to properly notify me ahead of time to have my transmission inspected before April 2014. Chrysler told me that it was all my fault for not thoroughly reading my owners manual. They denied having any responsibility in this. According to Chrysler, it is not their responsibility to notify their customers about such things. It is the responsibility of the customer to read through the owners manual and remember to schedule service 5 years in the future. I am upset with Chrysler over this. Now my Jeep does not have any warranty on the powertrain. Chrysler has no concern for customer service. Only about making and saving money at the cost of the consumer. By cancelling my warranty, they avoided having to pay for any powertrain services I may have in the future.

7 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2014 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 11/08/2014

On November 1, 2014 I purchased a new Jeep Patriot from a Chrysler/Jeep dealership. Shortly after that I noticed that the owner's information (a dvd of the owner's manual and u. S. Warranty) and the user guide (an abridged version of the owner's manual) did not match my vehicle in many ways. Also at that time I noticed that my 2014 Jeep Patriot did look exactly like the 2015 Patriots being sold, and matched the 2015 Patriot owner's information. Apparently Chrysler/Jeep started manufacturing 2015 Patriots, but titling them and selling them as 2014 Patriots, long before the published model year changeover date of the first week of auguat, 2014. However the owner's manual, user guide and warranty information were not revised, even down to the older Patriot model cover page pictures! when I contacted the dealership and Chrysler/Jeep about the issues they said that they deemed the vehicle to be a 2014 because it was manufactured before August and that the differences in the owner's manual and user guide were not significant. I went through the 2014 and 2015 owner's manuals, comparing them page-by-page and compiled three pages of omissions and inaccuracies, some safety related, in the unrevised 2014 owner's manual and user guide. Those differences included 12 missing warning! blocks and six missing caution! blocks in the unrevised 2014 owner's manual and user guide. Warnings! are "against procedures that could result in a collision or bodily injury". Cautions! are "agaiinst procedures that could result in damage to your vehicle. . . Observe all warnings and cautions. " the 2014 Jeep warranty information booklet does not contain the notice that California emission standards now apply in 11 other states in addition to California. The 2015 warranty information booklet does contain that notice as a supplement. Revisions, supplements, or retitling are needed.

8 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2014 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 08/06/2014

This car I purchased has manual door locks. My wife has great difficulty unlocking the rear doors and for my mother in law it is impossible. The car was ordered so I was unaware of this problem. I believe the young, elderly, and those physically impaired would find it impossible to unlock the rear doors. Personnel at the dealership agree with my assessment and I have taken it back three times and was told they could not fix it. My last visit was today and spoke to the field service manager and he said nothing could be done. I sincerely believe that not being able to open the back door is an accident waiting to happen. Sincerely, pat kilroy 843. 813. 7738.

9 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2012 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 06/15/2014

While on the interstate, I was in the fast lane attempting to pass another vehicle when I started to hear this strange noise and I began to lose acceleration and the transmission light with the circle around it came on. It was a very scary thing because I had a car behind me that was very close. I was able to pull over to the shoulder. I pulled out my owners manual to see what was going on. I followed the instructions by putting it in neutral and idling it for a few minutes. It eventually stopped making that noise and the light went out and I started out on my way again. I still had a 2 hour drive left on my trip and I was scared it would happen again before I could get home. I took it to my local Jeep dealership this morning and basically was told there were no sensors lighting up and they couldn't fix the problem if they couldn't replicate it. So I'm left with a car that I can't trust.

10 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2014 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 01/05/2014

I was driving down the road, when the vehicle shifted from drive to 4th gear without being touched. This particular vehicle has an option to manually shift through the seven gears by bumping the shifter sideways. But nothing had came in contact with the shifter when it happened. It has since this first incident, shifted into lower gears multiple times and leaving the rpms near or in red lines. The only way to get it back into normal driving is to pull the shifter up into neutral and back down into drive. It will also DE-accelerate the vehicle quickly when you take your foot off the accelerator pedal and put it on the brake to shift back into normal driving.

11 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2008 Jeep Patriot

Failure Date: 05/15/2011

I live and drive in the new york area. Often when I go on drives of 20 miles or more in the summertime months, and it could be anywhere between 70 to 90 degrees fahrenheit outside, the 2008 Jeep Patriot becomes a dangerous vehicle to drive. When travelling with this vehicle on a freeway or interstate at a legally high rate of speed, the vehicle often experiences some malfunction that causes a shut down. The vehicle automatically reduces its speed to below 30 mph without any warning or sign of stress. Imagine driving down I-95 with huge trucks behind you and the vehicle suddenly stops responding to the accelerator but rather automatically slows and there is nothing I (or anyone) can do to prevent it because there is no warning. My first instinct is to get to the side of the road as quickly as possible so I don't get rear ended from large trucks, but sometimes this occurs where there is no place to pull over. It is extremely dangerous. This has happened to me at least 10 times since I bought the Jeep in September of 2008. I am fearful to drive the Jeep long distances on warm days, especially on highways. There is no indication that the Jeep is going to shut down from what is apparently an overheated transmission because the "transmission temperature warning light" illuminates at the same time the vehicle begins automatically slowing down. Further, the mechanics I have brought the car to do no¿¿t understand why it happens. I have researched this issue on the web and learned that there are hundreds if not thousands of other Jeep owners who have experienced the same issue. This vehicle should be recalled as it proves a dangerous hazard to the occupants of the vehicle as well as other drivers on the road, and because it poses a serious risk to motor vehicle safety. The manufacturer tries to cover up the above dangers of the car with a line in its owner's manual, page 174.
