Jeep Patriot owners have reported 1 problem related to transfer case (under the power train category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The vehicle was in motion, rear driver side tire would not roll correctly and was making a noise under the hood. It was towed to a repair shop and after running diagnostic testing found that the cvt transmission, drive shaft joint and transmission cooler had to be replaced. Per the repair shop "the transmission had catastrophic failure" at 96,986k miles and without any advanced warning I had no choice but to agree to have a rebuilt transmission, drive shaft and cooler be installed because mine could not be repaired. The only thing they could salvage was the transfer case which was thought to have been the issue but the diagnostic testing found that was ok. Three weeks it is finally fixed and appears to be working fine.
