7 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/06/2018

My Jeep with 86k miles engine blew. One week earlier when driving over 40 miles per hour it seemed to wobble a bit from left to right, I thought maybe it was because I had 4 wheel drive on. I have only owned it for a month and it is a 2nd vehicle and I was not sure if that was normal or not. Then after not driving the vehicle for 4 days I moved it out of my driveway and was less then a block from my home when the oil light came on and half a block later the engine cut out. The car wouldnt start again and I had it towed to the dealer where I purchased it. They told me the internal fuel pump seemed to malfunction and the engine was blown! when I returned home I noticed a pool of oil in my driveway. This car sat for days and was barely driven by me since my purchase. How does an engine at 86k miles just blow? how does oil just dump out of a vehicle? why? well doing internet research it appears that this 2007 engine year there was a mistake in the engines where pistons were put in upside down? there was no recall for this and many 2007 Jeeps have had this happen. I am lucky it happened on a local road, if I was driving 65 in middle lane of a highway and my engine just shut off I would be dead. I couldnt steer it. It just stopped. . . . . I have tried calling Chrysler and have been transfered many times to other people, I am at a loss of what to do. Again, I have had this vehicle 1. 5 months. . .

8 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/03/2017

Vehicle was stationary, inside of garage with high ceilings. Vehicle caught on fire after sitting with engine off for more 3 hours. Looked like started at fuse box area.

9 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/29/2017

The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the class 3 trailer hitch underneath the vehicle detached while driving 20 mph. The contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road and used ratchet straps to support the bottom portion of the hitch to resume driving. The class 3 hitch was not replaced. The salesperson where the product was purchased called the manufacturer on the contact's behalf and was informed that the class 3 hitch was out of one year warranty. The manufacturer could only offer a percentage off of another purchase. In addition, the manufacturer informed the salesperson that the hitch was part of the bumper; therefore, the one hitch applied to both. The approximate failure mileage was 73,000.

10 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/13/2017

Driving Jeep windshield wipers came on horn started blowing windshield wiper fluid started spraying then Jeep exploded on fire. Just got stopped and out before Jeep totally engulfed in fire nothing left but 2 rear wheels. Driving about 45 mph on smooth straight highway.

11 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/03/2017

While driving at highway speed, if you hit a rough spot on the road, it starts to shimmy and the steering wheel starts to violently jerk back and forth. The front tires are wobbling. You have to be extremely gripping the steering wheel and push on the brake as hard as you can without loosing control of the vehicle to get it stoped.

12 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/14/2016

Takata recall. . . . While driving about 68 mph on an interstate overpass today, my Jeep went into the dreaded "death wobble". It was horrifying. . . I lost control of the vehicle and thought I would fall over the overpass. There was no warning, no bumps or pot holes. This is the scariest thing I've ever experienced on the road. It felt like 4 blow-outs simultaneously. I cannot believe there is no recall on such a dangerous issue.

13 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/07/2016

Clockspring failure. Airbag light blinks and chimes in normal driving. Not offroad. Part is inferior and needs to be replaced several times over the life of the vehicle.

14 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/07/2016

I've experienced the occurrence known as the "Jeep death wobble" twice now since buying this Jeep last year. Both happened while driving approx. 50mph on highway.

16 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/16/2016

When driving at speeds of 50 to 55 mph the Jeep will go into an uncontrollable whoble witch you have to bring the Jeep to almost to a complete stop to get it under control . Have had it to the place of purchase in June 2016 3 times. They say they have fixed it but it is still doing the same thing. Last fix they turned brake rotors and reset tire pressure. No help.

18 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/09/2016

I almost had fatal crash with my children because of 'death wobble'. It's not funny & Jeep needs to be sued for refusing to address this issue! over 50 times when traveling 65 mph the vehicles shakes uncontrollably forcing me to come to a complete stop on the highway. Why are they allowed to get away with this!!!.

19 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/09/2016

Violent front end shake at 50 mph.

20 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/11/2016

At any gas station (vehicle stationary) when filling up fuel tank, using the automatic shut-off on the pump, it will shut off, but always allows gas to overflow and spew a small amount of gas out the filler hole and down the side of the Jeep. Suspect some sort of filler neck or gas tank ventilation problem. This most recently happened today (1/11/16), but has happened every time I've filled the gas tank since I bought the vehicle used about 3 months ago.

21 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/06/2016

Airbags- on Jan 06, 2016 I was involved in an auto accident in my 07 Jeep jk the impact was at 35 miles per hour and conditions wet (rain). A vehicle failed to yield and we impacted, however, our airbags did not deploy and the other vehicles airbags did. The damage was moderate and chevy tahoe received more severe damage. I filed a complaint with Chrysler and they are inspecting the vehicle. I am very concerned, my wife and daughter were very sore after this accident and all wore their seat belts, wife is afraid to drive her Jeep now and says it is not safe. Cair #28562532.

22 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/04/2016

The airbag warning light comes on at random, my horn no longer works. The dealer said that it is due to a faulty clockspring assembly. I got the recall information stating that the clockspring assembly may become contaminated, but my VIN is not one that is officially recalled. I would really like this fixed as it is a show vehicle. Thank you! (NHTSA campaign id number: 16v290). Also, my gas always splashes out all over the side of the vehicle when it's any where near full. It doesn't trigger the gas pump to stop and splashes back at me every time I fill up for gas. Please help!.

23 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/20/2015

Within a couple weeks of driving I was on the interstate at about 65 mph and hit a small bridge bump, the steering wheel started shaking violently. I had to pull over. I brought it to the dealership and they said they fixed it. The shaking was still there just not as violent. In the past 7 years I have brought it to the dealership 4 times for the same problem. They say they fixed it and the same thing happened. After the warranty ran out they charged me over $3,000. 00 to fix it. It again it got a little better for ahwil, the shaking wasn't as bad. Then it happened again. I brought it back they said there was nothing wrong with it. I had someone take a video on the interstae after I hit a bridge bump showing violent shaking and dangerous control. I showed the dealership the problem they said they have seen it before and told me to call Chrysler. I called them they said they never heard of that problem but would get back to me in a week. 2 weeks went by so I called them and they said there was nothing they could do and bring it back to the dealership which told me to call them. I am driving a death trap on the interstate and no one will identify and fix the problem.

24 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2015

I was driving on the highway, I hit a small bump on my rear wheel and all of a sudden my whole vehicle had stared to shake vigorously including the steering wheel I had to move of the road and come to a complete stop in order for the wheel to stop shaking.

25 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2015

The airbag light is on and recently the horn stopped working also. I have found a recall, but when speaking with Chrysler about my available recalls, it is not listed. The NHTSA action number is pe11019 and my make and model is listed in the campaign. Was told to get the other recalls addressed and see if it would help with the problem.

26 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/04/2015

When I fill up my 2007 Jeep Wrangler, it pukes up gas after filling up and it has been really getting worse lately.

27 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/03/2015

For the past two times filling up gas in my Wrangler, I have experienced a slight fuel overflow right as the automatic release sounds. I looked it up today and saw that this is a common mishap, that varies in severity from Jeep to Jeep, and that sometimes Chrysler will deny this as a problem, blame the driver for overfilling, blame the gas pump which doesn't seem right.

28 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2015

In Feb 2015 my 07 Jeep Wrangler started making odd noises and running poorly than is stopped. My Jeep had 69,500 miles on it and a service was done within 1,500 miles. It was towed to the service center- it did not have a drop of oil in it and the engine was blown. There was no indication of a oil leak anywhere! no warning lights came on either. Jeep refused to even listen or assist in any way. $6k later. . . . . . I have a new engine and check it every week! now when I park and get back in the Jeep it wont start- wont even turn over. It will finally start after 4-5 turns of the key. Its not heat, not distance, nothing being left on, not consistent- there is no rhyme or reason at all!! a man in a gas station heard me trying to start the Jeep and came over and shared this- push on the shifter really hard and it will start- it did and has every time now. When I stop I just make sure I push on the shifter. There is no recall and no service bulletin but is normal in the 07 it appears.

29 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/04/2015

Fuel overspills and spits every time the tank is filled. This has been happening for years on and off. I have replaced evap. System parts with no resolution.

30 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/18/2014

Was driving and engine stopped. Coasted to side of road and when stopped smoke was billowing up around me. Got out and tried to put out undercarriage with water and then two fire extinguishers with the help of other motorists that stopped to help. We couldn't extinguish so I called 911 and watched as it was engulfed in flames and burned.

Driving Jeep Wrangler and suddenly entire car was engulfed in flames. Car is a total loss.

32 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/25/2014

This is the second request I am now sending. My 2007 Jeep Wrangler caught on fire while driving through some brush on 10/25/2014 and was a total loss. The fire department that responded concluded that it was caused by the catalytic convertor as well as my insurance company. Jeep said since I already settled with my insurance company there is nothing they will do. This is the second time I am reporting this incident to you so can someone please get back to me?.

33 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/04/2014

At approximately 60 mph my vehicle began shaking uncontrollably. The steering wheel, engine, entire Jeep and there was nothing I could do to control or steer the vehicle. This has happened to me three times since June 2014. I have two children and have been on the highway each time it has happened and is terrifying!.

34 Equipment problem

The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, another driver noticed that smoked was emitting from under the vehicle.
