I was driving down a rugged dirt road very slowly and noticed smoke coming out of the ac vents. I stepped out of the Jeep and opened the hood and noticed flames. I immediately grabbed my valuables and ran away as the Jeep exploded into heavy fire. It burned completely.
After driving (between 45 mph and 55 mph) over a series of small bumps in the road (paved highway), I experienced (and am now continuing to experience, on a more frequent basis) a very dramatic, violent, terrifying, and nearly uncontrollable shaking of my entire vehicle (2007 Jeep Wrangler) which I have recently learned online (from reading countless reports from other Jeep Wrangler drivers experiencing the same terrifying event) is being called the dreaded Jeep "death wobble" (appropriately named as one rightly feels as though the driver of and passengers within vehicle could possibly suffer a tragic and life-ending accident resulting from this obvious very serious vehicle malfunction). As a loyal Jeep customer and owner over the past 3 decades (having my vehicles regularly serviced as recommended at their authorized Chrysler/Jeep locations), I immediately reported this matter to Chrysler/Jeep corporation and after asking if a recall has been issued, was told "no" and that none was being considered. In absolute amazement (and disgust), I advised Chrysler/Jeep that such inaction by Chrysler/Jeep would not only place its vehicle owners at great personal risk (accident and possibly even death from resulting accidents), but could also subject Chrysler/Jeep to legal action such as class action suits being filed nationwide by each state's attorneys general's offices. Please kindly fully investigate and take immediate corrective action to require Chrysler/Jeep to fully address and correct this unsafe, terrifying (and possibly even life-threatening) matter. Thank you.
I was driving approximately 55-60mph, there were some mild tar bumps in the road that I drove over and the car proceeded to the death wobble. It is exactly as everyone else has noted, the Jeep felt like all 4 wheels were coming off, the Jeep shook voilently, was extremely hard to handle. I slowed my speed and pulled off the road. The car felt like it was going to come apart. This is a known problem to Chrysler and to this organization, why won't you do something about it????? with only 33k miles, I now have to get a new car because I am in fear of driving this one. If this had happened in the middle lane of an expressway. . . . It could have been tragic and deadly. . . . Is that what you are waiting for? hope it isn't anyone you know when it does happen!.
The transmission slips out of gear when driving causing the driver to giggle the stick shift and get it in gear. This takes attention away from driving and getting the car in gear.
Vehicle gear shift cable busted and shifter pin damage. Due to poor quality item made out of plastic not made out of metal. Chrysler upgrade because part to new part but will not reimburse, they admit that part is faulty but sill would not make changes to other cars. Car would not move stuck in place. At first when car was turned on gear had not traction and no control. VIN: 1j4gb391x7l115178 Jeep Wrangler 07.
The Jeep started wobbling like it was going to explode. Had to pull over before I caused a accident. Took it to a Jeep dealership, still taking it to the Jeep dealership for repairs for wobbling.
I have loved this Jeep since the day I got it, at about a few years after owning it I had experienced something I just couldn't believe!!! I was going down the road at 45 miles an hour when I must have hit a bump in the road, my Jeep continued to shake violently and I could not stop it unless I pulled off the road and tried to come to a complete stop. I then went directly to my mechanic who then inspected the vehicle, he found nothing wrong and said he did not experience it himself. I have replaced all the shocks, new tires, brakes, steering pin and still have that problem, I did not know what it was until I started looking it up on the internet, there is even a video of someone driving a Jeep exactly like mine and it is doing the same thing. I have seen hundreds of complaints on this, if something is not done someone is going to get killed when they are in ice or rain!!!! why hasn't anyone stepped up to have this fixed? I have called Jeep on it and they said they have had complaints but no one is doing anything about it! really?? how about you climb into my vehicle and have this "death wobble" happen to you with your child in it??? I am 2 payments away from paying off my Jeep, this just disgusts me! something needs to be done!!!!!!!.
Hit 50 miles an hour and violent shaking occured. Had to stop quickly and pull off the side of the road. Extremely hard to steer to get off the road. Had parts replaced. Never fixed the problem. Jeep fails to acknowledge the problem. I had it back in shop with extensive work done this year. Still no fix. At a loss. My daughter refuses to ride it in as we almost hit someone head on because I was unable to control the steering when the "death wobble" happened. Have also had it happen where it put me off into the side of a ditch. I have doctor appointments due to cancer an hour away. Have to get a ride because I cant trust to drive it. I take country back roads everywhere and make only short trips into town. I'm on dissability, so the option to trade it in is out. Can't sell it knowing it might very well kill the next owner. I have been the only owner. All stock, no modifications.
When driving ecspecially in hot conditions the air bag dash light comes on and continues to ding. I have already had the sensor changed and it continues to do it.
Steering dampler. Steering box.
Transmission pops violently out of first gear upon acceleration causing the vehicle to lurch and pause/stop suddenly. This has been going on for years with increasing severity and occurrence. The vehicle, when in first gear, is most often in the middle of turning or crossing an intersection. This has been going on for years with increasing severity and occurrence to the point we felt it dangerous so we finally took it to a dealer. Despite it being known issue for this make/model, Jeep refused to help fix the problem citing the age of the vehicle and warranty expiration.
2007 Jeep Wrangler unlimited randomly stalls. Dash lights light up and engine stalls with complete loss of power steering and braking--this has occurred at 60 mph and as low as 10 mph. Has been taken to dealership and they cannot replicate the issue. It continues to be a problem.
The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated he received notification of NHTSA campaign id number: 09e044000 (equipment; part number 82209758). When contacting the dealer, the dealer advised before repairs could be made under the recall, he would have to produce a receipt showing where he purchased a tow package for the vehicle. The contact stated he did not have a receipt and the manufacturer would not supply one. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were approximately 12,000.
When the directional lever is put on for a right turn it does not always go off after the turn. Instead it goes to a left signal. To turn it off I have to go back and forth with the lever several times until the signals go off. Dealer won't fix it because it is hard to duplicate at the dealership.

2007 Jeep Wrangler. Consumer requests assistance with recall replacement dealer. The consumer received a recall notice in the mail. When she took the vehicle to the dealer, she was informed by the dealer, they would have to order the tow bar as they did not have any in stock and that the one she had looked ok and it didn't need to be replaced. The consumer stated since it was being recalled, she wanted it replaced regardless. The consumer stated it has been almost 4 months and the dealer still has not contacted her.
