The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph in the rain the soft top on the vehicle began leaking on the driver and passengers side where the doors meet. If water leaked on the electrical components in the vehicle they could rust or a fire may occur. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer for the water leak and they replaced the door seals on the driver and passenger side; however, that has not remedied the failure. The dealer stated that it was a design flaw in the soft top and the door seals. The contact called the manufacturer regarding the leaking soft top and they would not provide any assistance. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 59,500.
Leaking soft top on my 2007 Jeep Wrangler. Leaks from the right and left front doors over the door handles.
I am currently in possession of a Jeep Wrangler 2 door with a soft top. The only problem with the car is that the soft top leaks like a faucet anytime there is rain. While at first I thought it to only be a nuisance, after the third time I began to notice many problems related to the leaks. The floormats were constantly soaked and eventually started to form mildew, the pedals would become slippery and difficult to operate due to the wetness, the water was occasionally leaking into to speakers on the vents on the dashboard and working its way into the rear of the dashboard, and the seats tended to slide a little bit on the rails that are used to lock the seat in place while driving. This is a widespread problem for the 07 and 08 Wranglers and dealerships seem to be brushing it off as a minor inconvenience. However, when the water starts affecting other systems of the car it is no longer an inconvenience, it is now a safety item. That is why I am bringing this item to your attention.
Purchased a '07 Wrangler, leaks around pillars and rear view mirror when it rains, soaks carpet in floorboard, took vehicle to dealership and was informed that there was nothing they could do. A previous solution had been faulty and nothing new had become available.
The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that it takes a minimum of four men to remove the hard top (freedom top) from the vehicle. The top leaks when it rains or when the vehicle is washed. Daimler Chrysler stated that in order to get the vehicle inspected, the hard top would have to be placed back on the vehicle. While attempting to do so, the top became too heavy and was dropped, resulting in damage to the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection. The current and failure mileages were 4,000.
The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Wrangler x rhd 4x4. While driving 70 mph, the warning lights illuminated and the vehicle lost all power. The engine seized momentarily, but then began to operate a few seconds later. The dealer was unable to determine the cause of failure. The contact stated that the esp and bas lights illuminated when turning the vehicle and would not disappear until the engine was shut off. The contact also stated that the retractable roof leaked when it rained. The vehicle has not been repaired. The current mileage was 12,400 and failure mileage was 8,700. The consumer stated the lights have not come back on for the past month and a half. Updated 12/12/07.

Vehicle stalls out, all "idiot" lights go on, headlights and other lighting go off, then vehicle restarts, has happened a few times, and has happened after dealership "fixed" with a manufacturer issued TSB, on this last date I was driving at night on the highway @ 70mph ! lost all lights and power. And this is only one of the issues with this 2007 vehicle I purchased in Nov ! I even have a casemanager thought the manuf. For a roof leak that they have tried to fix 5 times and it still leaks.
1-bought 2007 Jeep Wrangler brand new 2-soft top was leaking over seat belts, the floor behind the driver and passenger seats are wet after rains. 3-dealer said that the salesman put the top on wrong and it was fixed. Top still leaks, dealership said that all the soft tops leak and it is just that way. Now I always park my Jeep in the garage, but sometimes I happen to be at work during a rain storm. I do not think it is right that dealerships can get away with this. There should be a recall on all the tops leaking. The manufacturer should pay for these to be fixed.
2007 Jeep unlimited 4 door 4x4 with 3 piece freedom hardtop. Hardtop roof has leaked since vehicle was purchased new in April 2007. Leak occurs at several locations at the two front panels above the driver and passenger. Vehicle has been into dealer five times for repair however roof still leaks, actually worse than before. Water is leaking on dash, into electronics and on vehicle occupants. This is very distracting while driving and may damage dash electronics if allowed to continue.
