Brake Disc Pads problems of the 2008 Jeep Wrangler

Two problems related to brake disc pads have been reported for the 2008 Jeep Wrangler. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 04/06/2011

My 2008 Jeep shakes violently when it hit a rough patch of road. This has happened 10 times to me the first time was 4/06/2011 the most recent time was 3/26/2012. I have replaced the damper bar (3) times, rotors and brake pads. I have taken my Jeep to glendale and south county Jeep in st. Louis, mo and they tell me I need to replace the damper bar and get new tires. [xxx] from customer care at Chrysler has been very nice but not very helpful. I am not convinced this is the problem since reading that many other Jeep owners have experienced the same problem. I hope the us government steps up and helps. Please help before someone get killed. I look forward to someone contacting me since Jeep feels they do not have a problem. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

2 Brake Disc Pads problem

Failure Date: 07/28/2010

Rear brakes worn and failing due defective pistons. Took the Jeep in to have the problem looked at and I was told this is normal for Jeep Wrangler by the technician. The Jeep was purchased in April of 2008. It has 32,149 miles. The front brakes had more than 70% pad left. My concern is if the pistons are applying constant pressure to brake pads can this cause them to overheat and potentially catch fire? I contacted Jeep directly and they said that if the technician at the dealership says it's normal wear and tear then there was nothing they could do for me. I've been driving for 25 years and never ever had a vehicle do this before. I did some searching on the web and discovered others are experiencing this problem. Case number I filed with Jeep [xxx] number called to filer complaint with Jeep 800-992-1997. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
