One problem related to brakes failed has been reported for the 2008 Jeep Wrangler. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Tl- the contact owns a 2008 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that as the failure progressed randomly, the brake pedal was slow to respond and the slippery road warning light flashed randomly while traveling during inclement weather. The contact stated that while traveling approximately 20 mph, the brake pedal was applied and it did not depress which caused the contact to crash into the rear of another vehicle. The air bags did not deploy and the contact did not sustain any major injuries from the crash. The police gave a citation and indicated that the brakes were faulty and the vehicle was unsafe. The contact was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 10v236000 (service brakes, hydraulic), 08v202000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The vehicle was not inspected and diagnosed to determine the failure. The vehicle was unable to be driven due to the faulty brake failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and they provided no remedy. The approximate failure mileage was 95,000. Dyd.
