Abs systems not functioning properly, showing engine code u0121 that states lost communication with abs module. This is a common occurrence with Jeeps and is a safety issue due to the abs system not working properly. Also causes the brakes to randomly engage and disengage.
The abs computer brake module is bad in my Jeep. It needs a replacement. Confirmed by Chrysler Jeep dealership. However, Chrysler does not offer a replacement module. Abs does not work on my vehicle. This is a huge safety issue and is common problem among this year Jeep. Chrysler shouldn’t be allowed to not have a replacement oem abs module. Huge safety risk and lawsuit.
This is a common flaw with the abs brake system on many Chrysler fiat vehicles and Chrysler fiat is doing nothing. My Jeep abs computer module went bad . No damage, no off roading. Driving on highway and all the brake/abs/stability control lights lit up on my dash. The abs showed code “c2200” bad abs module and must replace. However Chrysler stopped making these …in back order for years. You have to either get a junk yard part or send your computer away to be refurbished. How can Chrysler be allowed to not have a critical safety part in stock…and not cover this in a lifetime warranty. ?? I’ve never had any other vehicle where the abs computer goes bad . This is insane. And dealer can’t locate the part in the USA because Chrysler doesn’t have them.
April 22, 2025 my 2008 Jeep lost power. There was a sequence, where one warning light was followed by another, followed by a complete loss of power. I charged the battery, car started up, I drove to dealer (a 5-minute trip), and by my arrival the Jeep had again lost all power. Dealer checked the vehicle, and told me the battery and charging system were fine, but the abs brake modulator was draining the power. They have not been able to get another modulator and the vehicle is still at the dealer (crown Chrysler Jeep Dodge ram dublin, OH). Losing power precipitously presents a safety hazard.
Abs module yes as I was driving and going to turn left into a shopping center and stepped on the break, I had none, I did almost crash. It happened all of a sudden out of nowhere no lights, no icons lit. The problem has been confirmed by a dealer stating that this is a nationwide issue that’s currently going on that the parts are back ordered because there is nothing in production right now for the part. The vehicle is not drivable.
The vehicle requires an abs module. I have been waiting for over 4 months for part availability. According to dealer they dont have any eta on availability and have been told it may not be something they ever go back to producing. My state requires safety inspection which it will not pass due to this issue. Seems to me that someone needs to be responsible to make a part for these issues.
The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Wrangler equipped with powerstop, item: brake hoses, item number: n/a. The contact stated that after installing the brake hoses to the rear drivers and passenger side brake assemblies smoke was discovered coming from the rear driver's side brake rotors while operating the vehicle due to a brake fluid leak from the hose. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure. The contact was informed of the NHTSA campaign number: 24e053000(service brakes, hydraulic). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced that same failure listed in the recall.
I have a 2008 Jeep Wrangler rubicon that has a lifetime powertrain warranty. Since I purchased the vehicle in 2008 I have maintained it exactly as required to keep the warranty valid. This includes the 5 year lifetime warranty powertrain inspections which are performed every 5 years. I have documented proof of the inspections. In January 2024 my abs brakes failed and I went to my local dealership where I purchased the vehicle. The dealership service department told me that my abs module failed with a code of c2200 abs module internal failure. The part number is 68030936-ab. The dealership said they ordered the part from the manufacturer. Since January 09, 2024 I have called the dealership about the abs module. They told me I could drive the vehicle and that it would brake, but the antilock brakes would not work. This abs module also controls the electronic stability program, and that does not work either. Chrysler has not manufactured the broken part. Chrysler sold me the vehicle with a lifetime powertrain warranty and this part is included in the warranty. However, Chrysler has failed to provide a replacement part or offered another vehicle to safely drive.
Abs brakes not working on my Jeep. Was told by dealer that it needs a new abs module, but nobody has the part. How can I drive my vehicle when my abs brakes are not working and you don't provide the part to fix it? the one dealer in texas that has the part jacked up the price for it. That is price gouging, which is against the law. Chrysler is and will be responsible for any accident cause due to this issue.
On my 2008 Jeep Wrangler the driver’s rear drum hard brake line bursted completely and almost split in half, leaking fluid. The hard brake line follows the frame rail, and this breakage occurred at the 90° bend above the transmission cross support. My safety, my passengers safety, as well as others on the road were at risk when the brake failure occurred. While operating the vehicle on a decline, brake pedal began to sink to the floor and the “brake” e-brake warning indicator began flashing and dinging. There were no prior indications of the issue. Thankfully I was able to slow down my vehicle by shifting down and using my e-brake. Had vehicle towed and private mechanic inspected and performed repairs, mopar/Chrysler no longes makes this part and a custom bent hard line had to be created. Attempted to contact Chrysler 3 times regarding the safety issue this posed, they referred me to the dealer 1st call. I spoke with a mechanic at my local dealer whom agreed with me that the hard line had no reason to break given the location of the damage and that it’s a non-wear item. The mechanic suggested I call back the 1-800 number to continue with reporting my safety concerns to the manufacturers as there was nothing he could do at the dealership. 2nd call, the new representative also told me to call the dealer and when I asked for a supervisor to report my safety concerns, she hung up on me. The third call the rep said the exact same thing, however he sated a supervisor would call me back. I haven’t received a call back for a week.
Car was purchased 1 hour prior to incident from a dealership. Car was in idle and was shifted to drive and automatically accelerated rapidly without foot on gas pedal and breaks did not work when breaks were forcefully applied during the incident. The car crashed into a house deck and went off the cement pad and crashed into trees in the yard. Unable to remove key from ignition, had to be placed in neutral to remove key. We had the car for less than an hour after purchase. Damage was sustained to the deck and significant damage to car, air bags did not deploy. Claim was immediately filed with insurance.
Steering wheel shaking at about 50 mph. Then warning lights on dash came on abs- esp and bas. I slowed down drove home and parked it. Can’t get into shop until next week. Jeep has less than 48,000 miles. Not safe to drive!.
Tl- the contact owns a 2008 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while depressing the brake they heard an abnormal sound come from the pedal. As a result, the failure caused the vehicle to not have brake functionality resulting in a low speed collision. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was operable and sustained no damage. The vehicle was towed to conway heaten located 810 n 3rd st, bardstown, ky however a diagnostic had yet to be performed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 141,000. Kh.
Totally integrated power module (tipm) item has failed , causing me to replace other parts diagnosed by pcm as being faulty, but replacing those parts resulted in same error codes. Actual fault found to be a failing tipm. I have constant error codes, random horn, or lack of horn, random actuating of stability control causing one corner of Jeep to brake suddenly and giving the stability control warning light. Random power and fuel economy problems. Spent +$600 in parts that did not fix what Jeep said was problem, when problem is tipm giving the problem. Just waiting to see if bursts into flames, as have smelled hot wires coming from it recently. This has occurred while stationary and in while motion.
While driving at speeds of 60 mph and above, when braking or hitting a bump in the road the wheels wobble, steering is uncontrollable and you cannot accelerate or stop completely until the wobbling subsides. I was passing a semi truck when a slower vehicle pulled in front of me, I gently braked to slow down and the wobbling was so bad I could not steer, brake further or accelerate to stop the wobbling or move out of the way of cars behind me. I ended up in the median since I could not follow the curve of the road and was lucky to not be hit by other cars or the semi-truck.
Horn goes on & stays on, wipers go continuously, wiper fluid flows constantly, back up lights go on, heater fan goes off & on, the engine continues to run with the key out of the ignition and the last time the abs came on while I was delivering mail and my brakes locked up. Once it happened while parked ( the engine was running without keys), all other times I was driving on rural roads and in developments, both driving home & delivering mail. I have video on my phone of the occurrence two separate times.
The car was in motion at n wharton maint st NJ 07885 the car did got in fire.
As I was stopping at local arby's restaurant for lunch, my 2008 Jeep Wrangler sahara unlimited started smoking from under the hood. It smelled like electrical wires burning. It ignited before I could exit the vehicle and within a couple of minutes it was totally engulfed in flames. There were several witnesses who saw the fire. I immediately called 911 and within minutes the fire department arrived and put out the fire. The Jeep is a total loss.
I was traveling on a busy highway at a speed of 65 miles per hour when out of the blue the Jeep started to shake uncontrollably. To make matters worse, I had a semi right behind me hauling a gas tanker. Fortunately for me I was traveling in the speed lane which is adjacent to the emergency run off the lane. I let my foot of the gas and rolled/trembling off the highway into the emg lane till I came to a complete stop. After catching my breath and my heart. I proceeded to get out of the car to check and see if there was something wrong with the front end axle. I did not see anything problem so got back in the Jeep and drove off. I drove about another 50 miles that night and was not able to duplicate the problem at any speed. So a couple of days later I took the Jeep in to see my service advisor at planet Dodge in doral, FL. After a brief description of the symptoms and what happened, the service advisor calmly said it's a common problem called "the death wobble". So I am now having to drop off this Jeep in order to get a diagnosis and have the problem repaired. I hope it never happens to anyone; especificaly my mother who often drives the Jeep. This is a very very dangerous condition which will eventually cause accident and may even cause fatalities. There needs to be a class action suit filed against the manufacturer. Or at the very least a recall.

The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Wrangler. While driving at approximately 60 mph after driving over a bump or depressing the brake pedal, the front end shook uncontrollably. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the steering dampener failed. The tires were rotated and balanced, but failed to repair the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 88,000.
While driving on the road the Jeep starting flashing the esc light, the traction control, brakes, abs and the speedometer would skip and not give a reading. The headlights would also flicker. Just to note the altenator and battery are good. This could have caused me loss of control in slippery conditions.
Passenger side brakes come on automatically , almost caused me to loose control in right hand turn ! is there a recall on this ?.
Parking brake lever spring broke, vehicle popped out of first gear while parked. It then rolled over a block down the street and crashed into another parked car. Luckily all the kids in the neighborhood had already boarded the school bus, as it rolled through the bus stop!.
I have a 2008 Jeep Wrangler unlimited x with 42,000 miles. The vehicle has been babied except for one off-road weekend last fall. The death wobble just started about two months ago when applying brakes over 55 mph. Mostly front-end wobble. It happened sporadically and only at speeds around 60 mph. I took it to my mechanic and he replaced the rotors. Just a few days later, the wobble returned, but much worse, and with no braking applied. The whole car violently shook. I returned the vehicle back to my mechanic. He did some research and eventually installed a new steering damper, a bigger one than the original part. I am hopeful the problem will be fixed. In researching this matter and reviewing the various blogs, including this site, I cannot believe that Chrysler Jeep is not doing anything about it. While there has been no reports of death, that is just fortuitous. Something needs to be done about it. Not a coincidence that so many operators are experiencing the same problem with the same model.
Filing a complaint about what is called a death wobble! called Chrysler they have no recall but it is a known defect but not recall they say! it is very scary when this happens although they say no deaths are reported it definitely affects your steering and could cause accident. I have taken it to two different dealers they have come across it many times and tried fixing many different ways but no conclusion has been made please help! it has no after market items added to it nor big tires as Chrysler says can cause it!.
While in normal driving conditions my dash board lit up, esp/bas, traction control, abs, and airbag light all were lit up, and later I found out that my horn was inoperative. I have done extensive research and believe the cause to be a faulty clock spring. As of now I understand that there is no recall on the clock spring for my year of vehicle. Those systems are installed to protect my family and I. Those systems are vital to safety, especially the airbags! I do not believe that each individual that has this problem should have to pay to fix a faulty system that the manufacturer originally installed. I, along with many other Jeep owners request that there is a recall put in place for this product.
'08 Jeep Wrangler sahara displays truly alarming wheel vibration under light braking when descending from altitude. Altitude is usually around 10,000 feet, grade is usually 6-7% and speed 55-65mph. To-date I have only replicated this problem at altitude (kings canyon/sequoia in CA and in the rockies on the i70 in CO to name a couple of incidents) so it’s unlikely to be the notorious "Jeep death wobble," though it may be a related issue. I’m wondering whether the viscosity of the brake fluid may be a factor? Jeep referred me to a dealer but I don't want an opinion from a repair shop, I want (and deserve) an explanation from "the manufacturer" of the vehicle as to why their vehicle is suddenly so difficult to control under braking.
When I arrived home and was in the car in my driveway, I set the emergency brake. Something snapped, after which the brake clearly ceased to function (I could not set it). Fortunately this did not happen in a situation when I actually needed to use the emergency brake, but I have never had this happen with any vehicle I ever owned.
While parked on a slight incline the hand brake was set. The vehicle started to roll forward, I put the vehicle in gear and reset the hand brake more firmly only to hear a snap and the handle had zero resistance. The spring broke internally. I had the vehicle in gear and engine off so it did not roll forward any more, but looking online have discovered this is a very common problem and if the hand brake is need may easily fail - it did not take a hard pull to break the spring. My concern is the use in an emergency situation or very steep inclines where the hand brake may be required.
The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Wrangler. The contact was stopped on an incline and attempted to utilize the emergency brake when the brake exhibited a loud pop. The lever then fractured in the contact’s hand. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, an inspection was not performed. The contact repaired the lever by replacing the parking brake control arm. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The current mileage was 52,000. The failure mileage was 51,860.
My clockspring has gone bad on my vehicle. The airbag light keeps turning on and off constantly while driving. Apparently Chrysler has issued a recall for 2007 and some 2008 vehicles but I just called Chrysler and they said that my vehicle was not included.
The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving 45 mph, the vehicle decelerated independently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection and they stated that they could not diagnose the cause of failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 58,000.
The esp, bas, abs, and airbag lights are all on. When you start driving there is a clunking noise and it hesitates to go. Sometimes when you are driving it starts to clunk and it is hard to steer. At times it is like you are dragging the rear end. And at times it even feels like you are dragging the rear end sideways.
Brakes apply them self different wheels at different times at different speeds wheels get hot, smoke and wears brake shoes out, damages rotors. When you hit gas the brakes apply. This is dangerous if another vehicle is behind you when the bakes apply then you will be hit in the back. Can not find anythying wrong when we take it in to be checked. They apply at anytime you never know when.
