43 problems related to other fuel system tank assembly have been reported for the 2008 Jeep Wrangler. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Purchased this Jeep in 2010. Every since I purchased it, the gas spills out from the tank when I fill it up, unless I squeeze the gas nozzle very slowly and carefully. When the gas spills out, it goes on my clothing, the Jeep, and onto the ground. This is a health problem, a safety issue, and an environmental issue. Jeep should fix this for free!!!.
I am tired of not being able to fill up my gas tank all the way. I've had to stop the gas pump a gallon or two before my tank is full so I won't waste gas or get any gasoline spilled on me. Every time I take my Jeep in for service or an oil change I always ask if there is a recall yet to fix this gas spillage problem. I have had so many other recalls & other problems with my Jeep I just don't understand how this one issue has not been seriously addressed yet. I'm tired of having to babysit a gas pump every time I put ten or eleven gallons in. It wouldn't be such a problem if this Jeep would get better gas mileage but it doesn't so I am at the gas station more often than I should be just because I can't ever fill up my tank all the way.

Fueling has been an ongoing problem. I had a shut off problem in that the gas would eject from the car. Then I had a problem with slow fueling. It might take a gallon then almost stop taking forever to put fuel into the vehicle. I have taken it to begnal motors in kingston and they did address the issue and replaced the intake nozzle? and something to allow air into the tank when refueling. It seemed to be ok for awhile then went back to the fueling problem. I took it back to begnal and they seemed to believe the only solution was to replace the gas tank at my expense! this is a liability to my safety. I drove the Jeep to California and back the end of June of this year and never had a problem. . . I have to use my vehicle for many trips out of town and it is frightening as they told me this problem would probably get worse! this is definitely an engineering problem and should be taken care of by Chrysler. It seems that there is an on going issue with the fuel system.
Whenever I fill the gas tank it overflows after the pump turns off. It happens at all gas stations. It has happened since the Jeep was about 3 months old. The dealer told me it wouldn't be warrantied due to my using the vehicle off road so I have given up trying. I mostly don't fill it all the way anymore. But occasionally I forget and gas spills on the ground causing a serious fire hazard at the gas station as well as an environmental issue. After learning this is a very common problem, I have to ask why this isn't a recall yet?.
