I have a 2008 Jeep Wrangler rubicon that has a lifetime powertrain warranty. Since I purchased the vehicle in 2008 I have maintained it exactly as required to keep the warranty valid. This includes the 5 year lifetime warranty powertrain inspections which are performed every 5 years. I have documented proof of the inspections. In January 2024 my abs brakes failed and I went to my local dealership where I purchased the vehicle. The dealership service department told me that my abs module failed with a code of c2200 abs module internal failure. The part number is 68030936-ab. The dealership said they ordered the part from the manufacturer. Since January 09, 2024 I have called the dealership about the abs module. They told me I could drive the vehicle and that it would brake, but the antilock brakes would not work. This abs module also controls the electronic stability program, and that does not work either. Chrysler has not manufactured the broken part. Chrysler sold me the vehicle with a lifetime powertrain warranty and this part is included in the warranty. However, Chrysler has failed to provide a replacement part or offered another vehicle to safely drive.
Transmission pops out of first gear randomly. Was making a left turn across a 4 lane highway when transmission popped out this time. Thankfully this time oncoming traffic had enough time to slow down and not t-bone me. When this happens it feels as though I’ve been hit from behind and makes a very loud popping noise. Dealer aware of tbs 21-001-10 but vehicle is out of warranty period so have to pay out of pocket to have this well know safety issue fixed.
The dashblights started acting possessed while driving and winshield whipera came on without being activated by switch. Now the guages are stuck straight up and it wont shift out of park. . The radio and windows still work and the lights cone on without being turned on.
Alright I have a 2008 Jeep Wrangler sahara jk. Automatic transmission 2door soft top. And I have noticed on several occasions when there is wet conditions on any curvy road that when slowing down to take a curve to the right with the traction control on the transmission will down shift and cause the back tires to spin and lose traction which inturn sends the ass end sideways. And it does it both up and down hill and pretty much only on right turns the passenger side which puts the driver side rear end into the oncoming traffic lane a little. And I truly believe if it was a young driver or anyone that hasn't drove anything wildly before in there life it could cause a bad accident. But if you turn the traction control off it don't do it is bad if at all. Which makes me think it's wiring or the computer an electrical problem. I've had it happen on back roads and mt roads even turn on the interstate ramp. Any road where you remain in motion with a decent curve to the right. Alot on this winding mt road over the ridge to the next town. It's called joppa mountain. And it sidesteps with you there like it has me quite a few times, and you are not on your game it could get real bad real fast because that road winds back and forth all the way up and back down with strap drop offs that you would be praying for a tree to stop you. Always when turning right and slowing down with the traction control on.
The vehicle "pops" out of 1st gear constantly. I've seen hundreds of examples posted in forums where this is an issue with many of these models. Its dangerous when trying to start from a standstill with traffic behind you and you can't even use first gear to move out of the way. I've had people almost hit me because of this!!. . Again, this is a well known issue and needs to be addressed. . . At first I thought maybe it was just me. . . . But after doing hours of research (hundreds of posts about this exact problem on line) and even having other people drive my vehicle, we all agree something is wrong. .
Manual transmission pops out of first gear when in motion. Service bulletin (21-001-10) dealer won't repair. Flagler Chrysler Dodge Jeep, palm coast florida.
I have a manual transmission and the stick shifter that is stick constantly causes it to pop out of first and second gear when I am driving. This happens very frequently and has been a safety concern because those behind me in traffic, at a light or in a four way stop believe I am accelerating when in fact I have been kicked out of either gear back to neutral. I have had some close calls with vehicles almost rear ending me and for the safety of myself and those of others I feel this should be addressed. Usually, I would address this myself but after reading countless blogs and concerns this is worthy of a recall complaint. Please look into this concern regardless of the number of complaints that have come forward because this is an ongoing problem but Jeep drivers tend to their own vehicles rather than going through proper channels.
Manual transmission pops out of gear, this is the third time the synchronizer will need to be replaced. I paid to have it replaced the first time because the dealership told me they could not duplicate the problem. The second time Chrysler paid to replace that was 2 1/2 years ago (that is how long it lasted for) I recently contacted the dealership who replaced it in 11/2016 and they said I don't have a warranty and they only guarantee their work for 2 years. I found a recall service bulletin on line for the synchronizer that was sent to all dealerships April 20, 2010.
Sitting at a stop light the car burst into flames and burnt to the ground. The fire department said it was caused by transmission fluid boiling out of a vent and hitting the hot exhaust pipe.
Transmission overheats. . . Chrysler won't fix the actual problem. . They just recalled the vehicle to have a dummy light installed on your dash. . Turn your vehicle off and let it cool down. . By that time when it over heats. . It's already junk. . 42rle are junk! we the people are trying to fix and diagnosis there mistake. Between the wiring and the transmission. . It's hell. . . Your either going to burn because of faulty wires they never did a recall on and it's all over the internet. . . Same problems. Or your going to keep throwing a bunch of money into a pos that will never truly be fixed! throws all kinds of codes because of the tranny overheating. If you install a aftermarket cooler to try to fix the overheating issue it voids your warranty. . . Which is no good anyways. . Because the don't even stand behind that! hope they go bankrupt 😁 ## #vpic# 1 - check digit (9th position) does not calculate properly #vpic#.
Manual transmission pops out of first gear causing vehicle to stall. This occurs when starting from a stopped position as the clutch is released. This occurs when going straight and turning. This is dangerous when entering a roadway with other traffic. Seems to be a common problem with early Jeep jk Wranglers.
Vehicle will not start right away after it has rained or when it is cold. It is not certain if the vehicle will start after a few attempts. This is very similar to the complaints related to the electrical system: ignition switch recall for some Jeeps, which was recalled for the possibility of resulting in a vehicle fire. There has not been a recall for the 2008 Jeep Wrangler sahara yet even though many owners have made similar complaints.
Tl the contact owns a 2008 Jeep Wrangler unlimited. While driving at 5 mph, with no warning the vehicle shifted to neutral. The contact stated was able to shifter back to drive and drove the vehicle to their residence. The dealer (foss Chrysler Jeep 133 portsmouth Ave, exeter, new hampshire 03833) was contacted and informed the contact that the failure was not able to be duplicated and more time was needed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and agreed with the dealer that the failure was not able to be duplicated and more time was needed. The VIN search revealed no recalls associated with the vehicle. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 266,936.
I would like to know why the 2008 Jeep Wranglers are having so many transmission problems, and Jeep and Chrysler is sitting on the their backsides blaming the drivers? if multiple people are having the same type of problem, you would think someone would look into the problem, but no they dealers and the company continue to disregard it forcing owners to spend more and more money. I refuse to spend money to band-aid the issues. This should be a safety recall due to the fact that when it happens it leaves the driver sitting still in traffic. I am afraid to put my family in the vehicle for that same reason. I would like to note that this problem has happened at least once a day in the last year I have had it, the date of when it happened was just the last time . If anyone is even listening to the owners or trying to help please let me know. Thank you for your time.
This affects 6 speed manual transmissions. The car violently pops out of first gear when accelerating. They even issued a TSB on it. It has done this multiple times but I almost had a very serious accident last week when pulling out onto a major highway from a stop. This will get someone seriously injured or killed.
The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Wrangler. While parking the vehicle, the gear controller was unable to remain in park. The contact stated that the gear controller would not move from the drive position. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The VIN was invalid. The failure mileage was 25,000.
The manual transmission/stick shift constantly violently pops out of 1st and 3rd gear into neutral while accelerating causing a sudden, unexpected loss of power and control over the vehicle. The driver must come to a complete stop in traffic or have the vehicle continue to roll forward (or backward if on an upslope) while trying to re-engage the transmission. Unless and until the driver is able to re-engage the transmission, there is no active control over the forward movement of the vehicle to maintain vehicle speed or avoid a potential collision. This can lead to serious damage and/or injury to the vehicle, driver, drivers of other vehicles and pedestrians. This has been a continuing problem since the vehicle was new. Manufacture issued a TSB (#21-001-10 rev. A) regarding this issue caused by bad a synchronizer assembly. Dealer refused to correct the problem when the vehicle was under warranty b/c it happened less frequently then and dealer couldn't independently diagnose the problem. Now that it happens constantly the dealer refuses to correct the problem b/c the vehicle is out of warranty. This is a known dangerous defect but the dealer/manufacturer refuses to correct it.
At 35 mph in city traffic, the vehicle slowed down and the tach rose as if I were in neutral, I let off accelerator and vehicle jumped forward as if it went back into gear. As vehicle started gaining speed I stepped on accelerator and it seemed to go into neutral again and the tach once again rose. I pulled over to curb in city and turned on my emergency flashers and exited vehicle. I noticed smoke coming out from under vehicle and reached back in and turned vehicle off. I opened hood and flames came up from the center of vehicle behind engine, I went to rear of vehicle and grabbed fire extinguisher and tried to put fire out but couldn't. No warning lights or gauges gave advance notice that there was a problem. There was a trail of fluid that started at least 300' down the middle of my lane behind my vehicle and ended under my transmission. The only photo is a video I posted on facebook, I took the video while waiting for firetrucks and police.
While starting in 1st gear from a stopped position or down shifting while moving the synchronizer will make the shifter slam out of gear, even when you hold the shifter in first , it will slam your hand back. Will do it in the middle of a turn after you start moving in 1st gear or trying to put it in 1st gear. Has had problem since first received the vehicle but each time the dealer looked at it they could not find a problem. Its just a matter of time before the vehicle gets hit from this mechanical issue. Chrysler needs to recall it. There are other Jeeps out there with the same issue. Happens sporadically.
My Jeep keeps doing a death wobble on the highway today I took my 68 year old mother to airport and it did it going 55 on way back did it at 60 and I lost my transmission vfluid on 476 had to be towed.
Gears engaging with delay as vehicle gets hot. When putting the Jeep from the park position into drive, the vehicle has a delay engaging which gets worse the warmer or hotter the car gets and or the longer it runs. This problem became worse over the last 12 months. I have seen several people complaining about the same/similar problem in certain specific blogs/forums and in few cases the vehicle has actually caught on fire, so now I am wondering if this is a major safety issue and what to do about it.
I was driving on the interstate, enroute home, and my 2008 Jeep Wrangler unlimited just lost power which I steered it onto the shoulder. No warning lights, nor equipment failure indicator was on my dashboard. My vehicle started smoking heavily underneath the engine compartment. I had to tow my vehicle to a Jeep dealership, for further investigation on the cause. I'm awaiting for their findings on the cause.
Parking brake lever spring broke, vehicle popped out of first gear while parked. It then rolled over a block down the street and crashed into another parked car. Luckily all the kids in the neighborhood had already boarded the school bus, as it rolled through the bus stop!.
I had a lifetime warranty package on my 2008 Jeep Wrangler. I also keep great records of my maintained and did most of it at the dealership. I was driving 65mph on the highway and the transmition / engine area started smoking. When I pulled over group llc and lames were dripping from the transmition / engine area. Smoke quickly filled the vehicle and with-in 2 minutes the Jeep Wrangler was up in flames. I contact Chrysler group llc and they sent an inspector out. They were very hard to work with and mailed me letter saying, "the inspector found no indication of a manufacturing defect that caused or contributed to the incident on 1 Jul 14. No help at all! I want to look into this more. It seems the transmition / engine defect cost me a one Jeep Wrangler and they accepted no responsibility.
On may 29th of 2014 I was driving my 2008 Jeep Wrangler down a 4 lane city street at about 3000 rpm. I had just taken off from a red light when I heard a loud explosion that resulted in a fire underneath the vehicle. The gas tank exploded and the the fire covered the bottom of the entire vehicle. There was damage under the hood on the engine side of the firewall on what appeared to be fuel lines. Luckily there was a quick response by the fire department who quickly extinguished the fire, but my Jeep has been rendered un-drivable. I have contacted both Chrysler and the dealership but not assistance there. The Chrysler investigation team would not even take a look at the fuel lines the marshal determined started the fire. I will never feel safe in this vehicle or any other vehicle produced by Chrysler ever again. Luckily there was no personal injury to me, but only because I had all the doors and top off which enabled a rapid escape. Please take a serious look a these Wranglers and force Chrysler to take action before someone is seriously injured or even killed.
Tl * the contact owns a 2008 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the transmission overheated and smoke emitted without warning. Additionally, the vehicle failed to shift into reverse or neutral. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for a diagnosis. The technician stated that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileage was 67,000. Updated 08/12/2014.
The vehicle since the day I owned it randomly pops out of 1st gear. This is so dangerous when turning left onto a road with on comming traffic. Jeep has a service bulletin on this very problem but dealers are refusing to make the repair. Jeep should have a recall as this is a very serious hazard.
While parked in a mall parking garage, vehicle caught fire forward of the firewall. According to a policeman, a witness saw smoke coming from under the hood 15-20 minutes after the vehicle had been parked. Vehicle was completely destroyed forward of the firewall. Smoke and heat damage to front interior of vehicle including melted carpet near transmission in area of accelerator pedal.
My 2008 Jeep Wrangler 2-door with the 6-speed manual transmission will sometimes not go into 2nd and 1st gear when downshifting. The transmission also pops out of 2nd and 4th gear. Both of these issues are unsafe because of the loss of power to the wheels. If something were to happen while trying to downshift around a turn or something of that nature, the vehicle would not be able to evade a collision. Also, the shifter clicks and feels "notchy" when shifting into 2nd gear, making it difficult.
My vehicle was parked and I had turned the ignition off, removed my keys, and walked away from the vehicle. The vehicle was parked on a flat surface at the time of the incident. Upon walking away from the vehicle the vehicle started rolling forward by itself. My vehicle rolled into the back of another vehicle causing 4,000 dollars in damages to the other vehicle. No major damages occurred to my vehicle.
Driving in beach dune area in oregon (had arrived maybe 10 minutes earlier). Smelled something burning and car burned to the ground. No overheating of engine coolant but hot oil and other lights flickered before shutting engine off. Got out of vehicle, looked under hood and wire harness along firewall was on fire and flames coming from that and between engine and firewall. Tried to suppress fire but was unsuccessful. Car a total loss - burned to the ground.
Transmission pops out of 1st gear during take off from a complete stop. This happens 1 in every 5 times. The shifter is fully engaged. Normal weather and driving conditions. No vehicle modifications.
Hit bumps in the road and the front end starting shaking very badly. Had to come to a stop for the shaking to stop. The famous Jeep death wobble. At the dealership they acted like they never heard of the problem before. After seeing these complaints I realize its a common problem and Jeep should of fixed it. It cost me $400. 00 to fix it. Also since I purchased this vehicle I complained to the dealership that the transmission shifts funny. They keep telling me there is no fix for this and it is a common problem with this transmission.
