2 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 03/20/2018

Tipm- door locks shorted out, fuel pump quits stranding the vehicle on the street, will not restart without pulling and resetting the iod fuse, causes airbag light to flash fault, rear wiper quits. This makes the vehicle unsafe or unable to be used. Vehicle was bought new and wouldn't think much about this if through research I had not found how many failures experienced by many have been related to this parts failure rate. Parked the vehicle and when went to restart it it would not resart, then the doors started locking and unlocking repeatedly locking me out of the vehicle with the keys in it. I reset the iod fuse and it started. Then going down the highway the warning lights in the dash started flashing, airbag, tcs, anti theft, tire pressure, abs, stability control all came on then vehicle shut off. It would start then run for a few seconds and die. Through research I found this to be related to the anti theft in the tipm-. Tried replacing the door lock fuse and it started arcing and smoking. Vehicle is parked now with a tipm- on order. As stated previously, I bought this Jeep new and if it was not such a widespread issue with Chrysler products I woul not think much about a part failure at ten years.

15 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 09/26/2015

When driving under normal conditions, air bag warning light came on. Light now comes on intermittently when driving and stays on for a few minutes, goes off for a few seconds, and then repeats continuously throughout driving. Looking online, this appears to be the same clockspring failure that has resulted in a recall for the same model year rhd vehicles, and extended warranties on this part for previous year (2007) lhd vehicles. Since this will cause the air bag to fail, I believe this safety recall should be extended to include all Wranglers with this clock spring assembly, not just rhd.

18 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2015

My 2008 Wrangler rubicon has airbag warning light illuminated warning bell ringing. The light and bell ring after vehicle is started and in motion. It will occasionally reset but then return after a few minutes of driving. It happens under all conditions of driving. Trouble code indicates airbag issue. Dealer states clockspring is defective. I'm very concerned that air bags won't deploy or may falsely deploy and possibly injure me or my passengers. After looking into this it appears that hundreds of fellow Jeep owners are experiencing the same clockspring failure issue. I believe this to be a recall issue by the mfg. This complaint is to be considered as a formal complaint/concern about a safety issue and will be a record in the event that said part failure is responsible for death or injury.

19 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/25/2015

While driving, airbag warning light turns on with a single warning chime. After 5-10 seconds light goes away but returns soon afterwards again remaining on for 5-10 seconds. Seems to occur more during city driving than highway driving. I view this as a safety concern because Jeep owner's manual states, "“airbag warning light” in your instrument panel could mean you won’t have the airbags to protect you in a collision. " I have also heard this is a common problem on 2008 Jeep Wranglers.

20 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/10/2015

When turning on the vehicle the air bag warning light illuminated and has remained illuminated since. The light intermittently goes out when the steering wheel is at or near full deflection in either direction. Based on my research it is likely a faulty clock spring, which has been recalled in the 2007 model but not 2008, despite it being an identical part installed in a nearly identical vehicle. This indication is a direct issue of safety as it shows there could be a failure of the airbag to deploy in an accident.

33 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2014

On my 2008 Jeep Wrangler (lhd) dashboard, the airbag warning light flashes on every minute with a loud chime, an indication that there is something malfunctioning or interfering with the vehicle's airbags. My local dealership has admitted the fact that they have seen many Jeep owners with the same faulty clockspring, but they charge hundreds of dollars to fix it. I can only imagine that for every Jeep owner that takes the time to write a complaint, there must be many more that are having the same issues who never took the time to write a complaint. I am writing this with the hope that someone will notice the large amount of 2007+ Jeep Wrangler owners who are having this same issue with the faulty clockspring, and initiate a recall that can help fix the clockspring and keep people safe.
