Clock spring in steering column has failed. Air bag warning light is on, horn does not work, cruise control does not work, traction control light is on. I drive in very dusty conditions while delivering us mail, records show a recall was issued for this Jeep and this problem. Records also indicate that the recall work was completed. But I have the exact same problem that the recall was supposed to fix? what can I do?.

While in motion and stationary the air bag warning light and chime come on randomly, sometimes seconds apart over times minutes, online research indicates that the air bag system maybe defective and this issue is a recall matter on right drive Jeeps mine however is a left drive. Started 2/17/2016 and has been going on ever since.
On the 2009 Jeep Wrangler (lhd) dashboard (mileage 79,600), the airbag warning light flashes on every other minute with a chime, an indication that there is something malfunctioning or interfering with the vehicle's airbags. This has been a recurring issue and concern for many 2009 Jeep Wrangler (lhd) owners, including myself, and has been shown time and time again to be caused by a faulty clockspring within the vehicle's steering wheel. This faulty clockspring is the culprit for potential airbag failure in the 2009 Jeep Wrangler (lhd) during an accident or premature deployment when simply driving around. Daimler Chrysler has refused to address the safety concern of their faulty clockspring that can cause failure of the vehicle's airbags from properly deploying.
The speed control failed, shortly after that the airbag warning light illuminated. Jeep service had to replace the clock spring to fix the issues. The airbag warning light was intermittent, it would eliminate whenever the stirring wheel was turned and then reset shortly after returning to center. If any force was applied to the stirring wheel I. E. Gently pulling on it or pushing on it it would also cause the airbag warning light to illuminate. The speed control failure was complete. It would not activate at all after failure.

My airbag warning light goes on and off intermittently. This is consistent with the clock spring issue that has been occurring in many 07-12 Wranglers. This is an extremely dangerous condition should a frontal impact occur.
Airbag warning light goes on and off while driving. Have checked for loose or bad wiring connection externally - none found. Believe that this condition is due defective airbag clockspring wiring failure. Talked with dealer (of little help) - no recall notice, your problem but we can fix. Feel this is a manufacturing defect and should be corrected under warranty/recall process.
Airbag warning light intermittently goes off and on at all speeds/driving conditions. This would be attributed to the clock spring that has been recalled on right side steering models only. I hardly think there would be a difference in the defective part on left hand models either as it is the same part. It would be negligent not to recall all of these. Looking at complaints and online forums this seems to be a very common issue.

My airbag warning light illuminated for no reason. I looked this up on the Jeep sight and this was a recall in right side steering wheel Jeeps of the same age. Online numerous Jeep owners blog about a similar concern. I contacted Jeep and they indicated it was not a concern, contrary to the common concerns on Jeep forums. Soon after the recalls began to occur so I thought it prudent to express my concern.

While driving straight at approximately 35 mph the airbag warning light started to flash then went off for about a minute or two,now it comes on and stays on for same time (on solid) constantly while vehicle in motion.

Air bag warning light stays on, make a turn it goes out then comes back on and chimes in less than 60 seconds. This I found is a bad clockspring, and a very common issue. Chrysler has a recall for rhd only. They need to include lhd its a safety issue airbags. . . Will not inflate when light on.
Left hand drive 2009 Jeep Wrangler rubicon the airbag warning light and chime keeps coming on about minute goes out for about 5 minutes. Looking at several forum, edmunds, motor trend web sites, this seems to be a problem that Chrysler wont accept the problem with left hand drive vehicles, but they have issued a recall for right hand drive. They need to address this issue, its a safety concern, are they going to wait for major law suits to happen. Please please push this issue .
My airbag warning light came on and has mostly stayed on for two weeks. I took it to my mechanic who has told me that the airbag clockspring sensor in the steering column is defective and it will cost between $500-$600 to replace. This same part has been recalled on some earlier models of rh drive Wranglers and 2007 lh drive models, however, it is happening in 2008-newer lh models as well, but nothing is being done to replace these. We would like to have our model years covered by the recall/replacement as well.

2009 Jeep Wrangler left hand drive. The airbag warning light flashes on every other minute with a chime. This is an indication that there is malfunctioning or interfering in the vehicle's airbag system. After researching this on the internet, it appears to be a recurring problem. The clockspring in the steering column is faulty and needs to be replaced. The warranty was extended on the right hand drive vehicles to 150,000 miles, yet there is no effort on Chrysler's part to address the left hand drive vehicles. This has been a recurring issue and concern for many 2007 - 2012 Jeep Wrangler owners, including myself, and has been shown time and time again to be caused by a faulty clockspring in the vehicle's steering wheel. On my 2009 Jeep Wrangler (lhd) dashboard, the airbag warning light flashes every few minutes with a chime, an indication that there is something malfunctioning or interfering with the vehicle's airbags. I have my 2009 Jeep Wrangler at the dealership and they confirmed that it has a faulty clockspring within the steering wheel assembly. This has been a recurring issue and concern for many 2008, 2009 and later Jeep Wrangler (lhd) owners. This faulty clockspring is the culprit for potential airbag failure in the 2009 Jeep Wrangler (lhd) during an accident or premature deployment when simply driving around. I have called Jeep/Chrysler and they refused to address the safety concern of their faulty clockspring that can cause failure of the vehicle's airbags from properly deploying. I even pointed out to them that 2007 (lhd) Jeep Wranglers had their warranties extended to 150,000 miles or 10 years for this same issue and all 2008-2012 (rhd) have been recalled for this issue (NHTSA action number: pe11019. Recall 11v528). To support that there is an issue, when I called a Jeep dealership's parts department they told me the clockspring for my 2009 Jeep Wrangler has been superseded by 8 part numbers. That is 8 times they have worked on fixing this part, but they refuse to warranty on my 2009 Jeep Wrangler.
The air bag warning light and warning tone started coming on and turning off in approx. One minute cycles. I looked in the owners manual and it warned of a possible problem with my air bag and it needed to be returned to the dealer ASAP. The dealer checked it and said that the air bag clock spring, is broken and needs to be replaced. The dealer service consultant warned that the air bag may go off on its own when being operated normally or, not at all in the event of a crash. This Jeep is a left hand drive vehicle and not covered under warranty. In doing on line research I have found many, many complaints of this same kind. I feel that Chrysler should be required to replace it at their cost because it is a safety issue on a fairly new vehicle, also the right hand drive cars are under warranty.

Warning light for airbag system is activating every 30-50 seconds. Contacted my service department, they stated it is a "clock spring" in the steering system. Apparently, there are many claims for this from Jeep Wrangler owners.

This has been a recurring issue and concern for many 2007-2010 Jeep Wrangler (lhd) owners, including myself, and has been shown time and time again to be caused by a faulty clockspring within the vehicle's steering wheel. In conversations with my dealership as well as Chrysler, there was an extended warranty (10yr/150,000mi) issued to the 2007 model year and a recall issued for 2008 (rhd) models. For any other model years, Chrysler has refused to address the safety concern of their faulty clockspring, knowing that it can cause failure of the vehicle's airbags from properly deploying, thus putting vehicle occupants at risk. This has been going on for approx a week at this point, at varying speeds and varying road conditions. Being that I drive approx 30,000mi per year, this is a major concern!.
