37 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2013

On the 2009 Jeep Wrangler (lhd) dashboard, the airbag warning light flashes on every other minute with a chime, an indication that there is something malfunctioning or interfering with the vehicle's airbags. This has been a recurring issue and concern for many 2009 Jeep Wrangler (lhd) owners, including myself, and has been shown time and time again to be caused by a faulty clockspring within the vehicle's steering wheel. This faulty clockspring is the culprit for potential airbag failure in the 2009 Jeep Wrangler (lhd) during an accident or premature deployment when simply driving around. Daimler Chrysler has refused to address the safety concern of their faulty clockspring that can cause failure of the vehicle's airbags from properly deploying.

The contact owns a 2009 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic who stated that the clock spring had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was 71,691. The VIN was not available.

41 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 12/08/2012

On the 2009 Jeep Wrangler 4-dr 4x4 (lhd) dashboard, the airbag warning light flashes on every other minute with a chime, an indication that there is something malfunctioning or interfering with the vehicle's airbags. The abs esp and bas lights come on when going over a bump, having a car wash or going around a corner. This has been a recurring issue and concern for many 2009 Jeep Wrangler 4-dr 4x4 (lhd) owners, including myself, and has been shown time and time again to be caused by a faulty clockspring within the vehicle's steering wheel. It's all over the web on various online Jeep forums. This faulty clockspring is the culprit for potential airbag failure in the 2009 Jeep Wrangler 4-dr 4x4 (lhd) during an accident or premature deployment when simply driving around. Daimler Chrysler has refused to address the safety concern of their faulty clockspring that can cause failure of the vehicle's airbags from properly deploying. I have spent over $1000 replacing parts and getting the Jeep Chrysler certified technicians to diagnose the issue and resolve it but to date they have not and the lights are still on.

42 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 10/20/2012

While driving off road on a washboard type surface at about 5 - 10 mph when my dashboard lights started to flicker and my airbag warning light came on. (it's still comes on and off). When we stopped the battery was hot and had to be disconnected and replaced, also with the airbag light problem the horn hardly makes a sound. My mech says the clockspring needs to be replaced. And it's a "rubicon" :(.

43 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 09/04/2012

My airbag warning light turned on. It would intermittently turn on and off after that until I had it fixed. It would turn on and off with a frequency of about one every other minute sounding off a warning chime. I did some research and learned that this symptom is a common problem with my model year of vehicle and has been a problem with model years 2007 and up. The problem is with the clockspring mechanism in the steering column that has something to do with the air bag. It apparently has something to do with the function of the airbag and is already the subject of recalls on other model years as well as a recall on the 2009 rhd version of the Wrangler. They clearly are using the same part on these models and should be a recall on all models that have this part. I brought it to the dealer to get fixed and Jeep determined that it was a faulty clockspring mechanism and I had it replaced as it obviously is a safety risk. Please investigate this and have them recall all models with the same clockspring mechanism before someone gets hurt or killed. I am currently negotiating with Chrysler corporation regarding this repair but I paid for the entire repair myself.

44 Warning Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/29/2011

Two days ago, the air bag warning light on the dash started intermittently illuminating along with an audible chime sounding when ever I turned the steering wheel. Driving straight ahead the light would go out. As of today, the light stays on continuously. After checking with posts on jk-forum. Com (forum related to 2007+ Jeep Wranglers) I found that there is on going issue with the clockspring in the steering wheel area. Multiple people are having the same issue with the same symptoms that my vehicle has exhibited. This is obviously a safety concern on a part/design that Chrysler has been having issues with for years. I have seen posts that people have paid upwards of $500 to have this issue fixed. I believe that this should be a TSB and repaired free of charge, or even a recall since it involves the airbag safety system. My vehicle is a Jeep Wrangler, 2 door, 4x4, left hand drive.
