37 Carrier/rack problem of the 2007 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 02/26/2015

On February 26, 2015, due to unknown exhaust noise, my 2007 Jeep Wrangler was evaluated by jim at daves automotive in visalia, CA. During this eval. Jim reported both exhaust manifolds (stock) were cracked and emitting exhaust. Additionally jim reported that due to the faulty exhaust manifolds that both were missing bolts which were forced out of their location due to the faulty manifolds. After contacting the dealership lampe Dodge Jeep in visalia, CA they informed me this problem was common and the reason they kept the manifolds in stock. Additionally, in January we had the clock spring in the steering column repaired at lampe and requested they evaluate the door locking mechanism which only worked intermittently. They reported they keep the tipm module in stock to repair this problem which was common in the Jeep Wranglers and other models.

38 Carrier/rack problem of the 2013 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 02/23/2015

This incident happened February 23, 2015 around 9am . It was snowing that day and the temperature was in the 20's. I was in the vehicle and had the defroster/heater turned up all the way. About 5 minutes later of sitting, I heard a popping noise. About a few seconds later of hearing this popping noise I slowly see a crack on the bottom of the driver side windshield just over 16 inches but no more than 2 feet long. I recently just moved from san diego and my Jeep has never seen snow or had experience with the cold weather before. I went on Wranglerforum. Com (Jeep enthusiast website) and that is where I found out that I wasn't alone. More Jeeps had their windshield crack during the winter due to them turning the defroster/heater abruptly. I think there is a defect on the windshield or the insulation and needs to be addressed. Chrysler/Jeep had declined the warranty because they claim its from an external factor. And I assure you, I don't have a chip on my windshield.

39 Carrier/rack problem of the 2014 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 01/27/2015

Burning smell of oil, part was cracked. Dealership even said it is a poor design. This needs to be a recall. This could've been a fire or an engine disaster with the amount of oil coming out of the vehicle.

40 Carrier/rack problem of the 2007 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 01/13/2015

The doors will no longer lock or unlock, at times the locking of the doors is intermittent. We recently had the clock spring repaired at lampe Dodge and then the locks started malfunctioning. I took the vehicle to a repair shop and they called the dealership and were informed that I needed to replace the tipm module. I am researching this out myself due to the dealership reporting this was a common problem that Jeep is ignoring. Additionally I will be filing a report on the 2007 Wrangler exhaust system. The same repair shop was looking into the exhaust noise coming from this vehicle and informed me of two cracked exhaust manifolds. Additionally exhaust manifold 1 was missing 3 bolts and exhaust manifold 2 was missing 2 bolts. At this time the mechanic believed the bolts had been forced out of their location by faulty exhaust manifolds that warped.

41 Carrier/rack problem of the 2010 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 12/20/2014

Power window went down wouldn't go up. . Took to dealer when hooked to computer it says the control module is faulty. As a mail carrier this is a detriment to ability to do the job the vehicle was bought for. The dealer also stated that this is a known issue but there are no parts available to replace it.

42 Carrier/rack problem of the 2014 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 11/28/2014

I have a cracked oil filter housing that seems to be a common issue with this year model Jeep. The local dealer is about 920 back ordered which tells me that this is a major problem. Please look in to this! if this would have happened while driving it could have caused the engine to lock up and may have caused an accident.

43 Carrier/rack problem of the 2008 Jeep Wrangler

44 Carrier/rack problem of the 2014 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 08/04/2014

Observed oil under the vehicle. Suspected that the oil cooler was leaking based upon others with the same problem. Observed a large puddle of oil in the valley of of engine at the oil cooler. All this was observed after the second oil change (dealer). Parts manager at dealer stated this is a big problem on the 2014 models with the 3. 2 and 3. 6 engine. Depending how large the crack is on the cooler this could cause all the oil to be evacuated from the engine causing a fire with the hot exhaust or seizing the engine causing a crash. The oil filter/cooler was redesigned for the 2014 model year. At this point it seems to be affecting the 2014 model year.

45 Carrier/rack problem of the 2007 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 05/20/2014

While trying to put gas into my 2007 Jeep jk Wrangler unlimited, fuel started to pour out the underside. I took my vehicle to the mechanic and they informed me that a large crack was on the filler neck that is attached to the fuel tank. They also informed me that due to the discoloration of the plastic inlet it has been leaking for a while. Upon removing the tank, they also discovered that the spring inside the nozzle is highly defective. Apparently, the spring is supposed to push back once the fuel tank is full. As a Jeep owner for years I’m extremely angry that an inexpensive part made poorly could of cost the life of my family, friends and anything within range if a fire erupted. Chrysler should recall these defective tanks immediately. I can provide photos of the filler neck and nozzle.

46 Carrier/rack problem of the 1998 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 03/17/2014

Noticed a noise while driving home the other day thought it may have been my exhaust rattling around, so I got under vehicle to inspect the noise, and what I found was that the rear part of the frame has rusted away and the brackets for the rear trailing arms had detached from the frame allowing the arms to drop, and on this particular side the brake lines are attached to this control arm. I know that Toyota had a similar recall on the truck frames for rust perforation, and that Jeep had one on the liberty for the rear lower control arms rusting and breaking. I am an automotive technician and my personal Jeep is not the first one I have seen with this potentially dangerous condition. I also googled this problem and found that its very common in these vehicles as well.

47 Carrier/rack problem of the 2008 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 03/03/2014

We own a 2008 Jeep Wrangler sahara, noticed a crack at top of windshield when getting into the vehicle. We have been having subzero temps, also there are no signs of anything that may have hit the windshield (ex. Rock, etc). After checking it, my first thought was that it looked like a stress crack, because of the location and way the crack looked, it was about 3" long and vertical, and of course its now spreading. After checking online, there are a lot of reviews with the same problem on Jeeps. One review suggested filing a complaint on this site, so that's what im doing and going to call Chrysler in the morning. Not expecting them to do anything about it, but if there are enough complaints, maybe it will set off a recall.

48 Carrier/rack problem of the 2013 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 02/10/2014

While driving from olympia wa. To marysville wa. I turned on the vehicle defroster and my windshield cracked. There is a small rock impact toward the bottom of the windshield and the crack extends from there. The nearest dealership is trying to sell me a $650. 00 or more replacement windshield which will not crack and the chrystler corp will not return e-mails or assist over the phone. I believe they are using substandard windshields which will crack upon first impact where other vehicles will not. It poses as a safety issue limiting visibility due to not being able to run my defroster. When the defroster is run the crack expands. Being in the military I personally can not afford to replace my windshield every time something bounces off of it.

49 Carrier/rack problem of the 2010 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 06/13/2013

I have only owned my certified pre-owned Jeep Wrangler since may 7th, 2013. I bought it with 12,xxx miles on it. So I have owned it one month & six days total & is still under warranty. I was driving down a paved road when I applied my brakes to stop at a stop sign & herd a crunch noise & my front left dropped down. I pulled over to the side of the road about 5 feet & could not notice anything. I then called tri-city Dodge & they told me to get on the ground & look up under & that's when I noticed my front control arm on the left was hanging down. I was told to have it towed to them by a. C. Provos. The towing company dropped me & Jeep off at tri-city Dodge. The service man. Then came out to tell me that the part was not warrantied because it had been impacted. I explained that I had not hit anything that I was just driving down the road. He then showed me how it was all rusted but you could not see any impact. I then said that it looks like a bad rusted part & he then explained that could not be possible that it had to be impacted. Now if it was impacted, it would have taken out the tie rode which was still intact with no scratches. There were also no scratches on the bracket or anywhere else under the Jeep. I was then told to call the dealership where I got it from & that tri-city Dodge believed it to have been impacted before I bought it because the broken bracket was all rusted out & I had not owned it long enough for that kind of rust. Photos were taken by tri-city. I then called up bournival Jeep in portsmouth, nh. I explained to the service man. & I was told it was not their problem. I explained how it was all rusted & I have never been in an accident. This should be recalled for rusting out. I have looked up online & have found many complaints about others with same situation & have never been in accident before & Jeep was telling them it had to been impacted.

50 Carrier/rack problem of the 2007 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 08/25/2012

I bought a used 2007 Jeep Wrangler 4-door sahara in March of 2012. About 30 days after the purchase (which is when dealer warranty expired) the vehicle's brakes starting squeaking. I took it to the dealership and they said it was because the brakes were dirty. They "cleaned" the brakes and sent me on my way. The next day the brakes started squeaking again every time I braked. I took it back and they said there was nothing they could do because the brakes were brand new. At this time, the front passenger door also stopped locking correctly. The warranty I had purchased for $2,000 did not cover electronics! a couple months go by and I experienced the popular death wobble after getting an oil change and tire rotation. It turns out the rear trackbar bracket was cracked and eventually completely broke in half. I bought a hevy duty adjustable rear trackbar and had a new bracket welded on which seemed to fix the problem for a few days. Then the death wobble started again. I then took the Jeep to get the tires rotated and balanced and the death wobble started at just 30mph as we were leaving the shop. I took it back and they were dumbfounded as to what the problem was. So they placed the tires back where they were when I took it in and it stopped for a couple more days. Since then I have replaced the front trackbar, steering stabilizer, and shocks, which all seemed to have put it at bay. However, now I have $340-a-piece tires that have been worn out and I have been told I cannot get the allignment fixed until I replace the front ball joints! I paid about $30,000 for this vehicle out of the dealership and have had to put in around $2500 in repairs and upgrades due to poor craftsmanship of this vehicle. On top of that I cannot even drive it with my family for fear of our safety. I have seen many online forums with people having the same exact problem. The dealership won't help me. The manufacturer won't help. Something must be done before a serious injury or death occurs.

Failure Date: 08/18/2011

2008 rhd Jeep Wrangler air bag light is on meaning airbag will not deploy if an accident occurs. Clock spring/corrosion issue causing horn not to work which is a safety hazard. Many mail carriers are having the exact same problems with these vehicles. Vehicle will not always start. This whole vehicle should be recalled as it has major electrical issues. The motor went out on mine at 52,000 miles. The warranty is only for 36,000 miles. The motor was rebuilt by a Jeep dealer and I was told it had a spun bearing. The air blower controller also does not work half of the time. These rhd Jeeps are all lemons and pose safety hazards to mail carriers who spend most of their day out on the road. The horn issue is a threat to the public as you cannot warn an unsuspecting driver or pedestrian of your precese. The airbag issue is a threat to the driver. You spend $25,000 on a vehicle, you expect better.
