The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, the message "battery charge, switch to park" displayed and the vehicle lost motive power and stalled. The contact stated that moments later, the vehicle was restarted and operated normally. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer was contacted, and an appointment was scheduled. The contact stated that the vehicle had previously experienced random jerking forward while coming to a stop. Additionally, the rear passenger’s side seat belt malfunctioned and needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the check warning engine light remained illuminated while driving. The fuel cap was replaced, and the failure was fixed. The failure mileage was 5,000.
Normal driving results in a change in the shifting action of the automatic electronic transmission. If the vehicle is warm the electronic buzz lengthens and prevents the shifting from one gear position to the next. The transmission rumbles and skips before changing to the next gear for a second or more. The gears clearly are not engaging in a timely manner and prevents ready movement after shifting to a new gear position. After long drives this is noticeable during normal unhurried parking maneuvers. This action was initially observed at about 384 miles on odometer and brought to the attention of the dealer. The second problems has occurred on 5 or more occasions where the idle speed does not go to normal after removing pressure from the accelerator. Was first noticed on hills in city of san francisco and has been noticed in traffic on several other occasions. The engine noise is quite audible when this occurs and idles above 1000 and carries vehicle at 10 plus mph on flat surfaces. The vehicle also surges after short drives and is noticeable in parking lots or garage parking. There have been three "dangerous" instances while in traffic. This will occur in both reverse and forward drives. The drive train also has a loud resonating sound which sounds as though the rotating is not uniform at low speeds. The dealer says this is a normal sound. All of these concerns were observed after about 300 miles and brought to the attention of the dealer. The dealer does not acknowledge hearing the gear sounds, said the idle would adjust after 3600 miles and has not addressed the surging.

The fuel tank sending unit malfunctioned causing an incorrect fuel level on the instrument panel. The gauge would read 1/4 or 1/2 when the tank was actually empty. A recall (94v106000) was issued for this problem but the consumer's vehicle was not included due to VIN (safety recall 755 - fuel tank sending unit).

Fuel line failed. Gasoline was pouring from car. Lucky to have avoided explosion and escaped alive. Dealer had the nerve to tell me the repair was not covered under warranty.

After tolerating both problems for some time (poor starting and leaking power steering fluid), I took it in for repair estimates. My mechanic told me what the problems were and, that in his opinion, neither should be happening at the low miles I have on the vehicle. I am currently trying to get Chrysler to put more than a minimal portion into the repairs. No safety defect listed.
The seat belt won't retract therefore the belt gets caught in the door latch. The belt becomes frayed as a result of the damage. This is the second failure. After 4 visits to the dealer, the part was replaced on 9/9/1998 at 46,889 mi.
In a 16 month period, I have experienced 3 fuel pump failures. #1 3/3/98 at 34,622 mi. #2 7/9/98 at 43,705 mi. #3 7/3/99 at 67864 mi. This failure has occurred without warning and has left the vehicle inoperable. Chrysler customer assistance has been contacted and they claim there are no known issues with the fuel pump. Dealer claims otherwise. I feel vehicle is unsafe and unreliable.
Dealer said no warrenty coverage for manifold due to mileage and age. Called Chrysler help line and told maybe cold water or rain got on it and agreed I should have bought extended warrenty. Why isn't the manifold covered under the emission control warrenty. What is more important then getting the exhaust gas to the converter? instead it goes to the air and creates a safety problem if it gets in the passenger compartment. I see your data bank has other manifold failures alredy and service notices of head bolt maifold issues. Looks like a mfg. Defect since these vehicles are so young. The fuel pump was fixed under warrenty, the car would't start right. The power steering unit continues to leak slowly and the dealer suggest a seal leaking but I have to pay to fix. Great car!.
Left fuel line was broke near the throttle body. Claim number 46-0271-088.

Contacted Chrysler concerning my problems, and they stated that they cannot do anything for me. When I called about my airbags the first time, I was told I would be sent arbitration paperwork and never was. When I called back, I was told that an inspector should have gone out to look at my car before it was repaired and that it was "too late now" to do anything. I was never told that an inspector or anyone else could be involved when I first contacted Chrysler. I am furious and frustrated and need help with this serious issue.
