Failure Date: 09/27/2024

1. Both driver and passenger front seat latches that allow seat to fold forward to access rear seats have broken at approximately 70,000 miles. This will be the second time for the driver side to be repaired. It was repaired back in 2018 under warranty when brand new and has now failed. Currently the cost to repair is approximately $500. The replacement parts are made of flimsy plastic that will break again. 2. Head unit for radio display and climate controls failed at approximately 60,000 miles. Not covered by warranty. Paid over $1,500 to replace.

3 Seats problem of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler

The contact owns a 2021 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the front passenger's side seat failed to lock into position and was sliding back and forth. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The contact related the failure to technical service bulletin: 23-021-22 (front seat will not unfold and lock into position); however, the vehicle was not covered under the technical service bulletin. The failure mileage was approximately 16,000.

5 Seats problem of the 2011 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 10/27/2023

(1) since October, I have had airbag failure in my Wrangler rubicon. The failure is the 2nd time for the same defective parts. Jeep has failed to repair/replace the parts. I've been waiting for two months. I cannot drive with no airbags. It's a death sentence and suicide to drive without airbags. There is a recall on this same defect issue, yet Jeep has continued to ignore this issue. (2) Jeep repaired a recall on my sidemirror defrosters a few years ago. After their repair, the defroster never worked again. (3) my heated seats failed to work, due to known defects. I've been without the deated seats for more than 2 years now! Jeep refuses to fix their defects.

6 Seats problem of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 04/10/2023

The driver and passenger seats handle to move seats folding forward and back constantly break. Both have been replaced/repaired at least 2-3 times each for the time I have owned the Jeep (2 years).

7 Seats problem of the 2019 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 02/06/2023

My pulled passenger seat forward to get access to rear seat. When I tried to return the seat to secure position it would not latch in place and plastic and metal parts including a spring fell out onto floor. Now the seat just slides back and forth. If that would have broke with a passenger in the seat they would have been severely injured. My Jeep only has 24747 miles on it. It is out of warranty and the dealer wants $716. 34 plus tax to repair it. This is outrageous and very dangerous. This vehicle is designed for of road usage. The seats should be much more durable.

8 Seats problem of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 01/01/2023

I have already had this replaced, at a direct expense to me, due to the concern. Jeep has a technical service bulletin (s2023000009) about the passenger seat. It began as a popping/knocking noise in the butt/inside of the seat. My dealer had to replace the lower seat frame/track completely, based on the concern and the bulletin. Before replacement, the seat was audibly broken, with great concern for the safety of the passenger in the event of a crash. Can this be looked into and why it is not a recall? if a recall, I assume I can be reimbursed for my out of pocket expense. I did not want to wait for a recall, as I was concerned for my passengers' safety, as the inside frame of the seat was broken. The dealer told me since it was just a TSB, and not a recall, it was not covered by Jeep.

9 Seats problem of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 09/29/2022

Passenger seat came unlocked from track and moved freely back and forth in track to stops. When passenger exited vehicle seat back folded forward and would not fold back upright making the seat unusable. The drivers' seat has same mechanical operation as the passenger seat. If this same problem were to occur with the drivers seat this would lead to possible loss of control and or accident. This seat system has weak plastic parts that have been known to fail for some time now without being addressed by the manufacturer.

10 Seats problem of the 2021 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 09/02/2022

The plastic seat position return broke on both sides. The passenger seat is now locked in a forward position and the drivers seat leans backwards. This was addressed TSB 23-020-19 for previous models but the problem continues. This creates a very unsafe condition for the driver and passengers leaving them stranded and harmed if it reclines while driving.

11 Seats problem of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 07/04/2022

While driving over the summer in 2021 the rear seat latch came seat and seat was thrown forward. One of the kids threw it back in place and didn’t think much of it. Over the next couple of the times the seats were placed down it clasp wouldn’t go down. Then one day a couple months ago the seat was attempted to be put back in place, we noticed that the thin plastic retainer for the pin was broken. Depending how the seat is pushed back in place it locks sometimes and other times does not. This poses a potentially safety hazard. I originally purchased the part to replace it, however since this is a safety lock I reached out to Jeep. Jeep indicated there was no recalls on the part, even though I have seen others will the same complaint. There are several concerns with the latching seat mechanism and if you do not know its broken and the seat gets thrown forward it can be a real painful experience. The Jeep was in for service for the top ripping multiple times and being fixed under warranty. There is anyone that could have broken the latch without telling or knowingincluding us or the dealer. Ultimately it is a ver poor design and a true safety hazard. We believe this matter needs further investigation.

12 Seats problem of the 2021 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 07/01/2022

While driving on the highway in heavy traffic, the whole highway came to a dead stop which meant I had to slam on my brakes and when I did the rear bench seat flipped forward and threw one of my dogs onto the floor. After getting home I checked the seat and realized that there is no latch to hold the seat in place.

13 Seats problem of the 2021 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 06/30/2022

The piece that holds the front seats in place (that slides them back and forth) is cheap plastic that breaks very easily. I have a brand new Jeep I cannot drive because the seat slides back and forth without locking into place, the plastic piece that locks it is very thin plastic.

14 Seats problem of the 2017 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 06/01/2022

Driver seatbelt will not lock into buckle. Major oil leak from ofa.

15 Seats problem of the 2012 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 05/23/2022

Both the front drivers side and front passenger side seat belts no longer retract fully. The mechanism and surrounding areas seems to be free of debris. Additionally the airbag light comes on and off when anyone sits in the front passenger seat. I travel in the vehicle alone mostly. The fact that the seat belts and airbag systems are not working properly caused me to call a local dealership about repair and they told me the could not assist for more than a month.

16 Seats problem of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 05/23/2022

The back seat in my vehicle came off it's mounting points and partially exited the back window during a rear end accident. The seat was folded forward at the time so no one could have been sitting in it in that configuration but: - I don't have confidence that in the regular position it would have held in place with passengers , and - if I had the top off the rear seat would have left the vehicle, possibly injuring others around the crash.

17 Seats problem of the 2019 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 05/01/2022

The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while he was cleaning the vehicle, the front driver’s seat failed to recline. The contact also found an unknown plastic part on the floor in the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the front driver’s side seat frame to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 6,661.

18 Seats problem of the 2019 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 01/25/2022

Drivers seat became stuck folded forward making the vehicle undrivable. Needed to have the vehicle towed to the dealership for repair. Luckily this failure happened when we were in a safe location with cell coverage. The problem occured without warning after folding the driver's seat forward to access the rear seat. This is similar to Jeep's TSB 23-020-19 - "front seat will not unfold and lock into position / June 20, 2019". However the dealer tells me that the problem is not the same as the TSB and the seat frame needs to be replaced. This is the second time we have experienced this failure. The previous time I was able to return the seat to the normal position after much difficulty. In that case I was able to drive the vehicle to the dealer for repair. That instance was apparently what is described in the TSB. Based on the owners forums this is a very common problem. It is obviously a major safety issue as it can occur without warning and strand the occupants.

19 Seats problem of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 01/05/2022

Both side seat release levers to let passengers in and out of the back seat keep breaking. Fast google search online shows it is a wide spread two door issue. This is a major safety issue as it make egress hard making passengers need to climb over center console. In case of a fire this could cause much harm.

20 Seats problem of the 2020 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 09/15/2021

As I moved the passenger seat forward to allow access to the backseat I heard plastic break. The seat will not go back in it's up right and locked position. The seat could move freely forward when breaking and backwards when accelerating. The vehicle is under warranty and I took it to the dealership and they told me they have to order the seat bracket in order to fix it and that would take 4 to 5 weeks at the earliest. This vehicle is unsafe to drive in this condition and others should be warned of these defective plastic parts used in the seat. I cannot utilize my vehicle to transport anybody because of it being a safety risk to any passenger as well as myself do to the seat not being able to perform accurate side airbag protection. This same problem has been reported by other people on Jeep forms. I just spoke to Jeep parts manager to find out when my part will be available and she said there is a backlog of over 85 customers with Jeeps with the identical problem and the parts are not currently available so this is not an isolated issue and is not being remedied quickly to preclude a serious injury.

21 Seats problem of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 08/09/2021

The seat adjustment latch in the driver side. The quick release latch and the cabling associated with it locked up causing the seat to become unlatched and recline fully while vehicle was in motion. Seat also slid forward and back along the roll track unable to lock into position.

22 Seats problem of the 2021 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 06/17/2021

Brand new, 3 month old 2 door Jeep jl Wrangler 2021. Jeep purchased in March 2021. . . Problem: front passenger side seat will not go back into upright position. It is on an angle & won't straighten up. Returned to service/dealership - they had to order a part to connect to the actual seat frame. Have to wait for part. Cannot have front passenger until repaired.

23 Seats problem of the 2020 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 05/28/2021

Seat folding mechanism is a single wire attached to a plastic lever. This has failed on both front seats at different times leading to the seats getting pushed into full forward tilt which is a potentially deadly failure.

24 Seats problem of the 2011 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 12/18/2020

Heated seats not working properly. Overheating on occasion with smell of "burning" plastic, and not heating on other occasions.

25 Seats problem of the 2020 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 11/07/2020

As I moved the passenger seat forward to allow access to the backseat I heard plastic break. The seat will not go back in it's up right and locked position. The seat moves freely forward when breaking and backwards when accelerating. The vehicle is under warranty and I took it to the dealership and they told me they have to order the seat bracket in order to fix it. I cannot utilize my vehicle to transport anybody because of it being a safety risk to any passenger as well as myself do to the seat not being able to perform accurate side airbag protection.

26 Seats problem of the 2019 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 08/15/2020

Any time the upper seat reclining handle is used to recline or fold the seat forward, something in the cable mechanism breaks and the seat will no longer latch in any kind of locked position, causing the driver or passenger seat to not be stable easy to fling forward or backward.

27 Seats problem of the 2019 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 08/23/2019

Steering wobbles and drifts violently at speeds over 60 mph on the highway. There has also been a water leak under the drivers side steering column that twice now the dealer has not been able to fix, all wiring under the steering wheel is wet after a rain as well as puddles of water on floor mat. This car is a lemon.

28 Seats problem of the 2013 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 01/01/2019

No heat on drivers side only causing visibility issues as defrost on drivers side is blowing cold air. Shop has done colant flush 2x in 1 year plus changed the thermostat which have all only been temporary fixes. Issue always returns. Heated seats fail to function as colder the outside temp is and when engaged doesnt feel as hot as they should. Jeep engine stalls out in reverse, worse when cold outside, will also dies occasionally when putting into drive. Dealer fail to find the cause as no warning lights are ever on as this did not happen in their presence and no codes come up although this happens almost every morning during winter when attempting to back out of my driveway. Occasionally if engine is stalling upon reverse it will also stall in the street again when shifting from reverse into drive. This stalling issue will happen no matter if I warm the engine before attempting to drive or not it makes no difference but it is more often in winter. Don't remember having this issue during summer but I've only owned it 1 year. Jeep also occasionally shakes terribly when I hit 60mph. So badly, I have to slow down or pull over as I feel like its going to lose control. My entire front end starts shaking, stealing wheel bouncing its awful. This 1st happened shortly after purchasing and I took it back to the dealer. Was told the front passenger caliper was falling off, they replaced that and 1 wk later that same caliper was again hanging on by jist 1 bolt. Shaking is again happening starting at exactly 60mph but calipers are in tact so I don't believe this was the real issue either. This $26k Jeep is turning out to be a money pit. One thing after another. I keep reading about Jeep owners all with my same problems so why are none of these issues being recalled???.

29 Seats problem of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 07/14/2018

The driver's seat emits a terrible squeaking noise. I took it to one dealer who didn't fix it. Then to a second. I'm still waiting on a part and it's been two weeks. It will be five weeks with this problem before they even attempt to resolve it. I've owned the car for three months.

30 Seats problem of the 2011 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 04/27/2018

I was driving down the road going 55 mph and a huge gust of white smoke came thru the dash vent system so I pulled over and got out of my Jeep sahara and noticed a big mass of white smoke coming out from under the hood. . . 2 minutes later, fire started and within a couple minutes my whole front part of the Jeeps engine was engulfed in flames. Than from there it burned up the rest of the Jeep. . This vehicle was completely destroyed in a matter of 10-15 minutes. . I was driving on a paved road in the country . .

31 Seats problem of the 2012 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 11/01/2017

Jeep Wrangler sahara 2012 heated seats malfunctioned. The passenger side heated seat button works well. The driver side does not work when dashboard button is pressed down. The driver side heated seat indicator button turns off after 5 seconds and does not work. There are numerous blogs and troubleshooting online sites where customers complain of this issue with no permanent resolve. Many Jeep owners with this issue share their experiences of going to the dealer to get this heated sit malfunction fixed. . . . Sadly to only have the issue reoccurr weeks later. Again to be clear, the driver side heated seats do not heat up at all. Furthermore, the driver side heated seat button light goes off after 5 seconds. The feature does not work therefore resulting in a loss in resale value and existing comfort from the cold. Chrysler has not done anything to date to issue a recall to fix this issue. Most Jeep owners are loyal return customers so it's sad that the heated seat issue has not been deemed important enough to issue a recall.

34 Seats problem of the 2015 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 09/08/2017

I was driving on the 91 freeway eastbound in California. Somebody wave me to stop. The car got on fire while driving. As soon as we got out we saw the flames, it got on fire so bad that only the fire department was able to extinguish it. Some truck drivers tried to extinguish but they couldn't. It only had 24000 miles on it because I only use it on the weekends. I took really good care of it. Needless to say it was the scariest and saddest moment of my life. I'm still wondering what happened.
