1 Transmission Noise problem of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 12/18/2020

My Jeep Wrangler has had a sticky transmission since I initially purchased it and the dealership has been giving me the run around since. The transmission hesitates to transition between gears while accelerating and even makes a loud high idling noise while accelerating as if it doesn't want to accelerate. I've been to the dealership 4 times to be serviced for the same issue and they havent fixed it and now keeps saying there's nothing wrong. I rented the same model Jeep for two weeks before buying this one so I know exactly how it should drive. Please help me and investigate. I paid too much for my Jeep to have my experience ruined by a bad transmission.

2 Transmission Noise problem of the 2009 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 09/08/2016

At 1030 am 08 September 2016, my Jeep Wrangler caught fire and was determined a total loss. I dropped my Jeep off for a noise in the transmission on 06 September 2016, I then received a phone on the 8th that my Jeep had caught fire because the transmission had overheated. The dealership was in possession of my vehicle through this process and stated that I would need to file a claim through my insurance company.

3 Transmission Noise problem of the 2014 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 05/06/2016

On 5/6/16 I went to start my 2014 Jeep Wrangler unlimited rubicon and the engine did not make a noise but the dash lit up like a christmas tree. The windows had power and radio worked but the door lock or alarm did not work. I towed it to the dealer and was advised that it was a common problem and was called the "tipm module" which is basically the entire fuse box and part of the computer. I was stuck there in north carolina from maryland for four exra days. Now after getting back home to maryland on 6/5/16 I go to try and accelorate onto the highway from a ramp and the transmission revs to 5,500 rpm but the Jeep will not accelerate. I have to ease off the gas and let it accelerate very slowly. Thank god no trucks were coming or it could have beed and extremely dangerous situation considering it was interstate 95 by 175 where semi trucks go to the ta truck stop.

4 Transmission Noise problem of the 2015 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 05/30/2015

My vehicle would make a moaning noise when going into drive and reverse. It took Chrysler over a year to listen to me and replace the transmission. Once it was replaced, I have not heard the noise so far. This noise would occur when the vehicle was stationary but also would occur if I was stopped and started moving again.

7 Transmission Noise problem of the 2013 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 02/05/2014

This is complaint related to safety recall notice n28/NHTSA 13v-234 (transmission oil cooler tube). Last year I had received a safety recall notice n28/NHTSA 13v-234 from Chrysler. As instructed in recall notice I scheduled an appointment with dealer- magnussens Dodge Chrysler Jeep, located at 1901 grass valley hwy, auburn, CA 95603, ph (530)885-2900. On 02/05/2014, I brought my vehicle in to get safety recall repairs done. Mr. Brian evans #1028, who is a service advisor with magnussen, stated they did not have a required part. I found this situation rather strange. Two weeks before my appointment I was reassured that part would be there. Since I was already there with my vehicle I brought to his attention unrelated to safety recall notice mechanical issue (possible squeaking belt noise). After inspection of my 2013 Jeep with 10k on odometer, they told me that it needs a new water pump? they replaced, free of charge, a water pump (invoice 189828). They hold my Jeep in their shop for two days. Communications with service advisor/department were horrible. I have to spend significant amount of time just to locate and contact their service manager in order to know when my vehicle will be ready for pick up. When I finally picked my Jeep up on 02/07/2014 mr. Evans told me again that required transmission oil cooler tube would be there soon. He promised this replacement part ¿¿will be reserved for my vehicle¿ and he will contact me as soon as he gets it¿. Here we are in the beginning of month may¿. I am still waiting to hear from magnussen¿¿s Dodge Chrysler Jeep. All my attempts to contact said service advisor went nowhere. Moreover, thanks to magnussens I am driving this unsafe Jeep every day. As of today no part replacement mandated by Chrysler recall was done. Now what?.

8 Transmission Noise problem of the 2010 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 04/16/2011

On April 16th, 2011 several of us decided to do a mild 4-wheel drive trip to a local waterfall. I was driving a 2010 Jeep Wrangler rubicon in 4x4 low on a dirt road. We reached our destination and the vehicle in front of us stopped and everyone got out and started to gather their stuff from the rear of their Jeep. I stopped roughly 10 ft behind the first vehicle on a slight incline (10% angle) downwards towards the first vehicle, put my Jeep (auto transmission) into park, and took out the key. We exited my Jeep and started walking towards the first Jeep as I approached my front tire, the Jeep started to move forward and it made a ratcheting noise from the transmission. The type of noise that is made when one would put a moving vehicle into park. My Jeep crashed into the tailgate of the first Jeep almost crushing my friend. Fortunately my Jeep hit the tailgate of the first Jeep at a 90 degree angle and the door withheld the force of my Jeep crashing into his Jeep. Took the Jeep to the dealership and they said they could not replicate the problem and they would not attempt to fix the Jeep. I drove the Jeep home and was able to replicate the problem in about 5 minutes, and was able to reproduce it consistently in another 45 minutes to an hour. . I created a video of the transmission failing and sent it to the Jeep dealership. I was able to replicate the failure by stopping on a hill with a pretty good angle and cycle through these actions: put foot on brake, put Jeep in drive, drive 2 inches, put foot on brake, put Jeep in park, and release brake. At this time the dealership has sent the video to corporate and awaiting direction. No corrective action has been performed.

9 Transmission Noise problem of the 2010 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 03/11/2011

Unidentified noise from transmission. Dealer found broken spring on clutch plate. Chrysler refuses to acknowledge problem. Only indicating that the clutch is a "wearble part". Dealership indicates could have caused catastophic failure of transmission resulting in loss of control of vehicle. Checked with 7 other dealerships and no one has seen this same problem in their shops.

10 Transmission Noise problem of the 2009 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 05/09/2010

2009 Jeep Wrangler 2 door 6-speed manual transmission - pops out of 1st gear randomly. Happens when starting from a stop - loud banging noise. Brought to dealership 2 times already and because they can't replicate the issue can't do anything about it. Major safety concern. Car has 14000 miles but jog started at approx 1,000 miles. Jeep needs to be accountable for this. Researching on internet shows numerous complaints on same problem with little help from Jeep or Chrysler. Are we Jeeps "Toyota" victims?.

11 Transmission Noise problem of the 2008 Jeep Wrangler

The contact owns a 2008 Jeep wranger. The contact referenced recall 09v436000 (power train:automatic transmission) and stated that the repair was performed. 12 Transmission Noise problem of the 2008 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 05/15/2008

I have a 2008 Jeep Wrangler x, manual transmission. The vehicle keeps popping our of gear on its own which often results in a sudden and unpredictable stop in the middle of the road. This occurs when the vehicle is accelerated after a complete stop, the problem also displays anytime while driving on 1st , 2nd or 3rd gear. Sometimes, after having stop for a red light or a stop sign, I put the car on 1st gear to drive away but the car would move a few feet but then it pops out right back to neutral. As a result, my vehicle would stop completely and the driver behind me often almost hits my vehicle from the back. The same thing happens when I am turning a curve. I must add that the vehicle makes a loud noise when it pops out of gear causing me, as the driver, to loose some control and concentration. I believe, because of this problem, my car is an accident waiting to happen. I have reported the problems to the manufacturer and the dealer at least five times but they keep saying they do not know what the problem is and are not able to fix it. I am fearful for my safety and that of other drivers because of this problem with my car. I would strongly urge your organization to immediately investigate this matter.

13 Transmission Noise problem of the 2001 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 02/18/2004

The transmission makes a rattle/chattering sound while in neutral (clutch must be left out too). It only does this as the engine gets warm. Vehicle has been looked at on multiple occasions at various dealerships. I have expressed my concern that the transmission may fail once out of warranty if this is not remedied. Dealers all say this is normal, but new venture gear (transmission manufacturer) when contacted says it was not designed to make this noise. Only some vehicles with this transmission have this problem, which leads me to believe there were a series of faulty transmissions made. This is a potentially expensive repair and I don't want my warranty to expire before it finally breaks. I feel that other owners and I are being given the run around due to the high cost to dealerships if they admit this is a problem. . It also has popped out of reverse when parked causing the Jeep to roll.

15 Transmission Noise problem of the 2000 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 01/27/2004

Jeep Wrangler nv3550 manual five speed transmission noise. At 20,000 miles the transmission made irregular noises that Chrysler claims are normal. Now, just as the warranty is running out they claim these same noises are a failing transmission that needs repair at the cost of $2000.

16 Transmission Noise problem of the 2002 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 07/15/2003

The automatic transmission has very harsh engagement and produces a loud clicking noise. Over the past several weeks I have had my 2002 Jeep Wrangler in the service department and the repairs have not been performed satisfactorily. I am told Chrysler will not authorize the repairs or the replacement of the defective parts. The vehicle is still under full factory warranty, the transmission should be replaced if it can not be repaired.

17 Transmission Noise problem of the 2001 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 12/01/2001

The manual transmission makes an unsual noise when the clutch is released and the vehicle is in neutral. Dealership claims this is normal. I do not want warranty to run out before manufactuer corrects this problem.

18 Transmission Noise problem of the 2001 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 09/19/2001

Manual transmission makes a loud rattle when in neutral and clutch is left out. Rattle is even louder when shutting off the engine. Both the selling dealer and another Jeep dealer claim this is a normal noise for this transmission and refuse to correct the problem. I am concerned that transmission will fail. This is a serious defect that the manufacturer and dealers refuse to recognize.

19 Transmission Noise problem of the 2000 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 08/01/2000

Transmission pops out of 1st and 2nd gear. Transmission very noisy while idling in neurtral. Noise stops when clutch is depressed. Noise is worse when transmission is hot. Dealer replaced transmission which corrected popping out of gear problem but new tranny is still noisy when idling in neurtral.

20 Transmission Noise problem of the 2000 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 07/21/2000

A rattling/grinding noise comes from the transmission when in neutral. When brought to the dealer, they replaced the throw-out bearing. Noise reoccured 2 days later and was brought back to the dealer. The dealership claimed they spoke to the engineers at the daimler Chrysler manufacturer and the engineers stated that the noise was due to a manufacturing design change of the transmission in the 2000 Jeep Wranglers and that they used a new transmission oil which is thinner and when the car warms up the oil becomes even thinner and causes the rattling. The dealership also stated that the noise is normal.

21 Transmission Noise problem of the 2000 Jeep Wrangler

Failure Date: 05/05/2000

Transmission kicks out of first gear when begining to accelerate. Also, makes noise when in nuetral.

22 Transmission Noise problem of the 2000 Jeep Wrangler

Tranmission sticks in 2nd gear when engine is hot. Also transmission makes a rattiling noise in neutral. This is a brand new car and has had this problem since I purchased it. The dealer(not the one I purchased it from) says it has no knowledge of any problems.
