About a week or two ago while going up a hill I noticed the car trying to stall out. It has begun to do more frequently now while driving and while in idle and/or park also. You cannot hear the car knock but it's as if you can feel it trying too. One instance I was in a turning lane and the car literarily tried to cut off in the middle of traffic. The rpm's dropped and car just felt real shaky and jumpy. Total episodes approximately in about 2 weeeks I would say are close to maybe 10? the engine light came in at first instance when I was going up a hill and has never gone off. But the proble has not been corrected but seems to have gotten worse.

I was pulling out onto a main road. My car completely lost power and almost stalled. The car barely moved forward and tbe rpms were erratic. I almost got hit by a tractor trailer. When I finally sputtered into work, the rpms in park were jumping between 1000 and 2000 rpms. I do not feel safe in this car. . It only has 8,700 miles. . .

I was driving my kia Forte 2016 in a regular street when it started jerking before it stalled. Luckily I pulled up quickly enough to avoid being stuck in the middle of the road. I waited few minutes then I started it again and I drove off. I did not have this issue with this vehicle, but I started looking into it online when I realized other kia models were recalled for the same issue.

On Saturday March 30, 2019, I was driving along the 110 north highway ( California) with my only son , my mother and my boyfriend , I was getting signaled to pull over by other drivers at that very moment my car stalled and heavy dark smoke started to come out of air vent , my boyfriend shouted for us to get out of the car quick , my mother is disabled and uses a walker to walk we had to make sure she got out first , as we started to run from the car I turned around and noticed a fire under my car ( I was driving like that , unknowingly) my car went into flames within minutes and it was a total loss. I have provided pictures for you review, I was very afraid for not only my life but my families life, it crossed my mind that I was going to die, if these doors don't open .
I was driving home like usual not even a week after my regular oil change and as I was pulling up a small hill close to my apartment my engine sputtered, backfired and stalled. I lost all power steering and brakes at this point. I put the car in neutral and coasted to a stop. After some troubleshooting I finally got the car to turn over and the engine immediately started knocking very loudly. It is clearly unsafe to drive at this point and an obvious manufacturers defect. The car is at 62,000 miles and the warranty is good to 100,000 miles. I have seen dozens of complaints about this model of car worth the same issue and hundreds of complaints with other models using the same engine. It is quite an issue to take care of monetarily for the customers of kia and should be investigated further.

Vehicle was in motion, smelled something "off", within seconds engine burst into flames. Entire vehicle gutted. Kia literally just installed a new engine, starter, battery, and intake 2 days prior due to engine locking up - with 22000 miles.
I picked up my car from the kia service department in downtown los angeles after being there for an engine replacement 4 months. I was driving it home and it started smelling funny in the fwy. I pulled over and everything seemed fine I drove 10 miles more then all this smoke started coming out and the car stalled in the middle of the fwy. It didn't turn on anymore and it started jerking off . I added water and it just leaked through the bottom. I had to push it out of the fwy and call a tow truck again.

Took my kia Forte 2014 in for an inspection, and instead received an ecu upgrade due to some kia campaign sc150. After the upgrade, my vehicle began to have issues. The very same day after leaving dealership, my car began to stall and blow a lot of white smoke from exhaust. I was pulled over by a stranger who informed me of that the white smoke exhausting blinded his view. Kia has been disregarding this safety concern.
The contact owns a 2016 kia Forte. While the vehicle was parked, the mats on the floor began to smoke because the vehicle was parked in the sun. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled frequently regardless of the speed she was traveling. The contact also had concerns with the transmission because the vehicle transferred gears on its own. The air bag indicator illuminated after the failure. Kia of greenville (2424 laurens rd, greenville, SC 29607) was notified of the failure. The vehicle was diagnosed, but the cause of the failure was undetermined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 2,865.
On 10/13/17, my son was driving home on the FL turnpike from college when his engine seized. Lucky he was not seriously injured or killed. Had car towed to the nearest kia orlando w dealer, found out the engine rod was blown through top and bottom of block. Engine was replaced with a short block and reused parts. During test drive car stalled due to a timing chain failing. Replaced timing chain, then the ignition coil went and had to be replaced. Next, the car began to misfire and they replace all 4 fuel injectors. Then told cylinder 2 failed the compression test which means the new motor failed. Kia sent new heads to a machine shop after several weeks we were told they were bad and had to order new ones. Now waiting on new heads to arrive be sent back to the machine shop the replaced on existing block. Still with out a car nearly 2 months later. I see kia had several recalls but not on the Forte. . . The kia Forte contains theta ii 2. 4-liter engine. Currently, the same engine in the Hyundai sonota which was manufactured by the same company was recalled in the 2013 - 2014 cars. Very frustrated with kia's process the fact that when we ask for documentation they will not provide. Sent us a preliminary invoice with a majority of the information missing. We do have documentation of proof. Our son has been without a car at college for 2 months.
The contact owns a 2013 kia Forte. While driving 60 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed with a blown bearing in the engine, and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact found an upcoming recall online, but the vehicle was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 91,000.
I took the car in to have a coolant line recall installed. The service manager and later a mechanic remarked that the engine had a serious "knock" and both mentioned that the engine either needed to be rebuilt or replaced. It only has 81k miles. Subsequently, when I asked about possible trade in value I was informed they would only give me $500. Now I see there are recalls in motion from both Hyundai and kia for this exact problem which could eventually cause the vehicle to stall during operation. There was no mention of the recall affecting the Forte version, but it does have the 2. 0 liter engine which is included in an upcoming recall.
My wife and I were passing another vehicle going about 75mph on a highway in southeast kansaswhen my car essentially turned off. Luckily there was a shoulder to pull onto. Tried jumping it with no luck. We had it towed to a nearby town to a body shop who kept it over the weekend to try and replicate the issue. This was a Friday and we returned that following Monday to pick up the car. Bodyshop stated they could not get the car to repicate what had happend and nothing flashed on the computer. We drove it in the town a little bit with no issues and proceeded home. We were out of the town about 10 minutes when we heard a small knocking that continued to get worse. We pulled over. We continued down the road to the next town which was about 5 miles away to a body shop. We just got into town when the car died again as if I turned the car off. I muscled the car to a parking lot. Tried turning the car on again and engine started smoking. Got it towed back home to a local body shop who looked at it the next day to inform me I needed a new engine, main wire harness, and starter. I contacted kia, eventhough I was only 11k miles over warranty, to see what could be done. Got it towed to a local kia dealership who looked it over and found lots a metal in the oil. They put a claim in with kia which they denied. I called customer service who then sent it to the district manager and he denied any help. It then got escalated to a higher department and they denied any help either. Prior to this I had no issues or problems with the car. During the time I had my car I had proper oil changes and maintenance. The car is only 5 years old with only 71,462 miles on it and now needs a whole new engine. Thankfully the times it stalled, which no warning light ever came on nor was there ever a noise of any kind indicating anyting was wrong, my wife and I were not in a crash.

My car light came on indicating I need oil in my 2015 kia Forte. After putting on in my car it began to stall. I was in the process of driving it home and the car comes to a screeching stop on breckenridge ln, in louisville ky. I started the car back up and began to drive some more the car did it again. I was very lucky that no one ran into the back of me as the car stopped all of the sudden as if someone had pushed on the brakes. As I started the car again and began to drive a few yards down the road the car cut off and I was lucky that I drifted into a abandoned gas station only to have the car no start back up.
My 2011 kia Forte stalls randomly while I drive it. This has happened multiple times in multiple driving situations. Two incidents happened while I was in rush hour traffic on highway 805 south in san diego California. Another incident happened while I was crossing railroad tracks leaving the marriott hotel in downtown san diego (in this instance, I had to coast the car off of the tracks -fortunately no train was coming at that time). In describing my experiences in one of these incidents, I offer the following description: on June 6, 2016, while in rush hour traffic on highway 805 in san diego California, the car just stalled. When pressing the accelerator, the motor would rev but there was no response. I had to shut the car off and restart it. Fortunately, I was able to get it started and drive to safety. Please note that I have repeatedly brought the car to the local kia dealership in an attempt to solve the problem. They have been unable to solve the problem (yet they have charged me for services rendered). I filed my complaint with kia corporate consumer assistance. They have asked me to bring the car into the dealership for "escalated services" three different times. Each time I think the car is repaired, then I experience another incident. The latest incident happened two weeks after my latest visit to the dealership. My wife was driving the car in downtown san diego on the night of July 8 2016. The car stalled again! my family and I feel like we are in constant danger driving this car. Yet, we need this car in conducting our family affairs. Kia corporate cannot solve this problem and we do not know how best to proceed. We feel that our safety is at stake and we are hoping that this situation can be resolved before any harm come to our family or to others experiencing similar problems. I can obtain repair documents, but I do not have them at this moment.
Back in April 2016 the hose that transfers transmission fluild was recalled I brought my car in to have it fixed. On 05/16/2017 my car started shifting weird and then (while I was driving on a city street with my two month old daughter) is now leaking transmission fluid and the hose is broke that was supposed to be fixed and is not safe to drive due to the fluid and broken hose it shifts out of control and stalls.
Tl- the contact owns a 2014 kia Forte. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled with smoke detected coming from under the hood with the air bag warning light illuminated. The contact mentioned that the smoke came inside the vehicle. The vehicle was restarted. The vehicle was taken to wagner kia of shrewsbury 730 boston turnpike, shrewsbury, MA 01545 (508) 581-5700 where the contact was informed that the failure could not be determined unless it happened when it was being test driven and the vehicle was not covered under warranty. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer for the failure 6 times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where an unknown part was repaired but the failure occurred again. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 105000. Dr.
Our 2010 kia Forte ex lost 90% of power repeatedly (rpms drop to idle, regardless of throttle position) at speeds from 0-35mph. This is not the first occurrence, but I think it is the same problem. This is very dangerous if you are making a left turn and you lose acceleration, you can be in the way of oncoming traffic by losing power. About 2 years ago (25,000 miles or so) the tps (throttle position sensor) went out. Kia could not diagnose it until it threw a code (lame). Now we get the same issue, the vehicle is stalling, or "stumbling" when the speed should be constant or accelerating, but there is no engine code for the code reader to pickup yet, so the mechanics can't figure out what to do. Apparently this is a problem on many models of kia/Hyundai and the mechanics don't recognize it so they can't fix it, and you are stuck with a dangerous condition. I think there should be a recall of these faulty tps sensors. Kia/Hyundai should at least issue a safety TSB (technical service bulletin) to clue in their mechanics as to what the problem is. . The contact vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 10,000. Second incident of stalling while operating a 2010 kia Forte ex w/ auto tran and the "fuel economy" package. In both instances I had come to a stop -- the first time (about 2 mos. Ago) was upon executing a hard stop, but today I had slowed gradually and then stopped for a red light. Both times, the dashboard lights and radio remained on but the engine simply cut out. Car was in "drive" and in both instances was traveling at approximately 35 mph prior to stopping. The steering did not lock. I was able to restart the car without difficulty after putting it in "park. " I was unable to recreate the problem once I had a chance to safely try doing so. The first time it happened, there were only about 5,000 miles on the car. I called the dealership and they said that I could bring the car in but that if they couldn't recreate the problem, they couldn't diagnose/fix it. They did not seem to have any idea what could have caused the vehicle to stall. Today's incident occurred after the dealership had closed but I will call them in the morning to report it. This time I intend to take the vehicle in for diagnostic testing as I have a long daily commute with a small child and am now concerned about the safety of the car.
