7 Loud Engine Noise problem of the 2018 Kia Motor Forte

Failure Date: 04/10/2020

While my daughter was driving this vehicle it started making a loud noise, then the motor stopped. There was no indication, ever, of an engine issue. No lights, warnings, temperature, nothing ever alerted her. We took it to two mechanics who diagnosed as total engine failure. All fluids were low, no oil. We never saw oil spots. She had the oil changed in February. We have to purchase a new engine as her warranty ran out at 60,000 miles. How convenient for kia. She has 67,000 miles. None of the sensors alerted her to any engine issues! the mechanics noted a thick sticky covering over the bottom of the engine. We know kia has had several motor recalls on other models. This model should be included. I noticed online several other kia Forte owners with engine issues. Please advise.

8 Loud Engine Noise problem of the 2017 Kia Motor Forte

Failure Date: 01/06/2020

I purchased this vehicle Dec. 2017 with 318 miles. Vehicle began to sputter when trying to start. First time, towed in was told nothing was wrong. Went home, next morning the vehicle sputtered to start. After 3rd try & loud sounding, I popped the hood & the entire engine was shaking in its cradle. Towed in again, dealership diagnosed coils misfire & replaced. Vehicle duplicated the same problem a week later. I replaced the battery. Vehicle would not start again the next day. Third time, dealership diagnosed fuel pump but ended up replacing the entire fuel injection system because replacing the fuel pump did not fix the matter. They had my vehicle for 2 full weeks. Had the vehicle back 2 days, vehicle would not start but continued to sputter. Dealership has now had my vehicle 5 weeks, first said they couldn't get it to duplicate the problem but kept my vehicle anyway. Then said coils were bad even though they just replaced them 3 months ago something is causing the coils to misfire. I have no answers. Even with kia consumer affairs involved, no one has an answer. At one point kia consumer affairs called to ask me how the vehicle was running because the dealership told them they did not even have my vehicle anymore. I thought I was going to have to make a report to my insurance carrier. My vehicle has 30,000. I've maintained regular oil changes & other required maintenance as suggested, faithfully.

The engine is shot and will not last much longer. I sincerely hope the recall is extended to the 2011 model kia Forte koup.

12 Loud Engine Noise problem of the 2014 Kia Motor Forte

Failure Date: 08/19/2019

While driving on the freeway, engine died and then restarted. The car engine started to make a loud noise and it would no longer shift, so manually shifted and the engine temp gauge began to rise so, pulled over and shut the engine off and called aaa to tow the car to a dealer. Kia dealer advised that cylinder 3 rod bearing failure occurred which sucked all the oil into the engine (they said that is how they immediately knew what the issue was). We just bought this car 6 weeks earlier, but I could not afford the extended warranty. Wei had a tune up and oil change 2 weeks earlier and we faithfully check the oil to ensure it is as expected. The dealer advised there was no way we could have avoided the engine failure, and we needed a new engine. The costs was $5,111. 96 to replace. We cannot afford to get rid of the vehicle and I was forced to replace the engine. Now we having over $12,000 between buying it and fixing it. Failure on a freeway is unacceptable, especially during rush hour. Kia needs to do something about these engines as this should never have happened. Maybe if enough people report these issues, they will be forced to fix the problem and reimburse people like us that cannot afford these kind of problems.

14 Loud Engine Noise problem of the 2014 Kia Motor Forte

Failure Date: 05/25/2019

In June of 2019, I had to replace the engine in my 2014 kia Forte. My mechanic said it was due to complete engine failure and when he removed the old engine metal fragments and pieces were found in the oil pan where the engine was literally falling apart. This cost me a significant amount of money to replace and kia was absolutely unwilling to help cover any costs of the repairs and replacement. This is unacceptable on so many levels. I purchased the car from kia in 2014 and when I replaced the engine in 2019 it had 140,000 miles on it. When I was coming back from my son's birthday outing, the car made a really loud noise and when I hit the gas it would not go. We were able to put it in neutral and make it to the nearest pull off spot but had to call a tow truck to have it towed to mechanic shop.

16 Loud Engine Noise problem of the 2013 Kia Motor Forte

Failure Date: 02/19/2019

Forte engine began making loud noises and running very hard. Then the engine light came on. Went to get it fixed and dealer said that the engine was failing and would need to be replaced. It is a 2013 kia Forte with less than 100,000 miles on it! the engine should not be failing! after reading other reviews, it is obvious that this is a problem with this car.

17 Loud Engine Noise problem of the 2012 Kia Motor Forte

Failure Date: 01/15/2019

Takata recall. Alright I also have the same issue most people have. My engine start making horrible noise around 129000. One day , I stopped at red light literally my whole car was shaking. I thought every single person have same problem with this model.

18 Loud Engine Noise problem of the 2013 Kia Motor Forte

Failure Date: 06/26/2018

On Tuesday June 26th, 2018 I was on my way home from work on the interstate and all of a sudden without any warning, my oil pressure light came on and the engine completely shut off, I lost all power, steering and brakes but luckily I was able to use my emergency brake. Car wouldn't start back at all. I keep my oil changed every 4,000 miles and haven't ever had an issue. The engine wasn't knocking or made any loud noise when it happened. And the oil was still on the full mark. And from what I have read, the same exact engines have been recalled in different kia/Hyundai models except the Forte/forte koup 2. 4l. So now I am left without my car and having trouble finding an engine I can afford while kia/Hyundai is replacing engines that have had the same thing happen to them but mine they wont replace because my VIN doesn't call for that recall.

19 Loud Engine Noise problem of the 2010 Kia Motor Forte

Failure Date: 03/01/2018

Engine failure due to metal flakes in engine (same as recent recall on other models). No lights or indicators present, engine was making abnormal noises and took care in before a catastrophic indecent.

20 Loud Engine Noise problem of the 2013 Kia Motor Forte

Failure Date: 01/26/2018

This is the 2nd engine replacement I have had to do in a 2013 car. Driving 60mph without warning car stalled and I was forced to coax to the side of rural country road, in the middle of extreme cold weather the 2nd time. The 1st time I was driving the car abfter just getting oil changed and car made a loud noise and car stalled while driving on interstate at 70mph. Car was towed and engine was blown each time. I have contacted kia on both occasions and on both occasions car was sent to dealership and could not figure out why engine blew. Oil levels where found good. This is ridiculous that I have had two replace 2 engines in a 2013 kia which is financed and kia refuses to do anything about it. I have receipts as well as reports done on car each time this occurred. However they are in glovebox of car at garage getting a new engine!.

21 Loud Engine Noise problem of the 2015 Kia Motor Forte

Failure Date: 06/06/2017

The contact owns a 2015 kia Forte. The contact stated that there was an abnormal noise that suddenly progressed while the vehicle was being pulled into the driveway to be parked. The vehicle was not safe to drive and was towed to the dealer (world kia joliet, 2525 w jefferson st, joliet, IL 60435, (815) 725-2575). The dealer indicated that the engine was a gdi model. The manufacturer had not developed a repair solution and that there was a campaign to address the gds model types. The contact was uncertain as to why the dealer had not been able to determine a solution. The repair concerns were to be escalated but, when the contact followed up, they had not been escalated. The approximate failure mileage was 39,000.

22 Loud Engine Noise problem of the 2013 Kia Motor Forte

Failure Date: 09/30/2014

Car makes loud noise while driving down fwy sounds like engine is going to drop out from underneath it - shakes and vibrates and acts like it's going to stop any moment. Brakes will not disengage, thereby making the gas pedal unable to engage. Car loses power while driving when brake doesn't disengage because the gas pedal doesn't engage. Brakes smell of burning rubber. Car rides like all 4 tires are flat - car shakes and vibrates as well. This has happened numerous times - more than 10 - took to dealer - they told me there was nothing wrong with the car. It is extremely dangerous to drive - I had the brake system line flushed and bled and the shop told me that what was in the brake line was not brake fluid - written right on the invoice. Kia is not standing behind their cars and screwing people - especially women. Service managers would just smirk and laugh when I took it in with the complaints - like I was an idiot.
