I received a recall letter stating that my car is part of a recall involving a defect in the engine that could cause an engine compartment fire and increases the risk of injury. I took my car to the dealership to address the recall. The mechanics at the dealership stated that my vehicle would need a new engine and that the engine will fail. Kia manufacturer is refusing to replace the engine even after their mechanics have told me countless times I have brought the car in that it needs a new engine. I have had to bring my car to and from the dealership 3-4 times now in the last 3 weeks after my check engine light keeps turning on and flashing continuously and my car won't accelerate like normal and will not drive past 40 mph. I have to floor the gas pedal just to move the car. Before I received this recall letter and took my car in to get looked at, I had no issues with my car accelerating and have never had a check engine light but now all of a sudden my car doesn't drive. The dealership damaged my car and are denying any wrongdoing. This is extremely dangerous to have my car in this condition I'm not willing to risk my family's safety or my own safety because the dealership won't take responsibility and the manufacturer won't go through with the repairs that need to be done for safety reasons and replace my engine. The manufacturer is not listening to their mechanics that have told me the engine is guaranteed to fail. My vehicle is not drivable and kia will not do anything to fix the problem. I have no reliable transportation and the dealership will not give me a loaner car to drive for the time either.

I received a recall letter for my engine telling me to bring in my vehicle in to have it checked out to be inspected and if necessary, repaired or replaced at no cost. My check engine light came on shortly after receiving this letter which prompted me to bring my vehicle in to van nuys kia. Long story short my service advisor came back eventually, telling me that kia declined my claim for having too many miles and also that I would be charged for bringing in the vehicle, even though the letter explicitly said would not be. My main problem here is that another customer, with the exact same car, 2014 Forte, took his car in with over 200,000 thousand miles and got it replaced with no problem. No mention about mileage or anything but the main reason I was declined was for having 170,000 miles when the cut off was at 150,000 and I have to pay around 7,000 to have it fixed. The recall letter mentions nothing about not being allowed to bring the vehicle in after 150,000 and even if it did, does kia get to pick and choose who they help?.
My car 2014 kia Forte ex 2. 0l gdi engine was under recall. Took car to dealership for recall and dealership said nothing wrong with it. On the way home from there the car went into limp mode and check engine light came on with engine code p1326 which is due to rod bearings. (which is exactly what this recall was for! ) I want this engine replaced just as the recall states!.

My check engine light came on. Took it to the shop and was told there was something in the engine that needed a reset or update. They fixed it with no charge and told me to come back if it came on again. The check engine light came back on the next day. I took it back and was told one of my cylinders was misfiring so they fixed it and I was charged. 3-4 months later my check engine light came back on. I took it in and was told that it was an old code stored in the car. They cleared the code and told me if the light comes on again to bring it back. The check engine light came on less than 48 hours later. This is Friday August 21, 2020, I have an appointment on August 29th to check my car. When my check engine light comes on my car hesitates when I step on the gas. The check comes on and goes off. When the light is off I don't experience the hesitation in the acceleration. It may come on and stay on for a few days and then the check engine light will go off and remain off for 1 to 2 days. This will be my 4th time taking my car in for the same issue.

The vehicle was not yet taken to a dealer and was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided a case number. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

Check engine light came on. The car started to shake as well as flashing check engine light while on the highway.
The contact owns a 2014 kia Forte. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the engine vibrated abnormally. During the failure, the vehicle loss power steering assist and the steering wheel was very difficult to turn in either direction. The check engine warning light and oil light remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the engine coils however, the failure persisted. After receiving notification of NHTSA campaign number: 20v750000 (engine), the vehicle was taken to kia of greenville located at 2424 laurens rd, greenville, SC 29607 however, the vehicle was not repaired. The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced the same failure listed in the recall. The approximate failure mileage was 86,000.
While driving my check engine light came on and the car began increased vibration. The light would go off when coasting and turn back on when accelerating. By the time I got home the vibrations continued even when in park as well as not acceleraing. Engine code p0303 was read from the engine light. I have now replaced the second coil pack on a cylinder in the past 5 months.
My car engine starts to shake vigorously for no reason and it happens at random. The check engine light comes on sometimes when this happens. This happens when the car is idle and driving on streets and/or highways. When this happens I have to turn the car off for about 5 minutes to see if it stopped to head back home or it doesn't stop and I have to get home as soon as possible before something happens. I took it to the dealership to get it checked out and I was advised that my coil pack was bad. I asked what can I do to prevent this and the representative told me this is just something that happens with cars. I've gotten my car fixed at a kia dealership twice and the problem came back less than a week later each time. It's happening again and I have to go get it repaired again. This began about a year into having the car. Each time I get this repair it's about $600. I always get all maintenance on my car, it is in excellent condition, I am the first and only owner of the car and the explanation from the dealership of this is something that just happens is unacceptable when I take care of my vehicle. Thank you. I tried to take a video but it doesn't show the shaking well, I can definitely feel it though.
Went to get an oil change 5 months after purchasing this car a d there was metal shavings in the oil. Mechanic said this type of engine was notorious for this and we would need a new motor very soon. No check engine light or anything so we had no idea this was happening. The motor locked up around 74,000 miles while driving down the highway. This doesn't seem fair at all! first car loan I've ever taken and can't even drive the car or afford a new motor, yet still making my payments on the loan. . .

Tl-the contact owns a 2017 kia Forte s. The contact stated that their vehicle lost power in traffic. The vehicle would not accelerate properly and this happened after a scheduled oil change. The check engine light did illuminate. The vehicle was taken to huntsville kia 6519 university dr NW, huntsville, al 35806 (256) 217-1700 where the vehicle was diagnosed and a new engine spring and ignition cord needed to be installed. The vehicle was repaired. Later on the repair failed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage 90,000. Jw.
2010 kia Forte; 113,000 miles. Check engine light came on. Code read 3rd engine bank sensors. dealership diagnosed the problem as knocking rods coming apart inside the engine. the dealership currently has two kia Fortes in the shop with the same mileage and problem. Seems like a pattern.

Knocking in engine noticed white starting and driving. Check engine light illuminated leaving oil change at 86k miles (12/27/2018). Moments later, vehicle wouldn't go above 60mph entering highway. All lights illuminated on the dash, pulled over on ramp and turn vehicle off. Vehicle wouldn't start and was towed to mechanic. Mechanic got vehicle to start and heard knocking. Identified coming from the engine and vehicle was turned off. Mechanic advised vehicle to be towed to dealer due to recent engine recalls. Vehicle was towed to the dealer and is pending diagnostic. I am not the original owner and the "10 year/100,000 mile" warranty does not apply to me. Hopefully they are honest and honor the repair/replacement.
2017 kia Forte I buy this car brand new back in December 22, 2017 and last month the car start to shake while I'm driving then it start to jerk as if its getting ready to turn off. 3 days a go the check engine light came on I only drive this car to work church no long distance trips or anything I have been getting my oil change and everything that to help with up keep of my car so was thinking my car is a lemon.
I heard a knock coming from the engine and suddenly the car died while driving in the city the check engine light came on and would not start up again but the power was still on for lights, etc. I had to have it towed to the repair shop. I was told the engine is shot. After researching the kia Forte I found a lot of reviews complaining of the same thing on the 2012 Forte. Now with the recalls for the other kia engines with the same or similar engine types, this make and model needs to be included!!!.
At approximately 63,000 miles I began hearing a knock in the engine and noticed hesitancy as the engine shifted gears. About 4 days later the check engine light came on. I took the car to the dealership and was told there was sludge in the engine. The service rep at the dealership indicated that the would contact kia to determine if the engine repair would be covered under the warranty. Yesterday I was told it may be an engine rod. It has been over a week without any resolution. I mentioned that kia had recalled kia optima for similar engine and was rudely advised that the Forte and optima had different engines.
On the way to a scheduled appointment with kia for a check engine light the car stalled on a city street. It started rough after and then stalled again 2 miles after that on a curved city intersection. The car would not turn over after the second stall and had to be towed to the kia dealership. Metal shavings were discovered in the engine and oil. The engine also showed damage to the cylinder head and timing chain from the metal shavings. The car needs the engine replaced, but a new or used engine is not available and I was advised that a new engine needs to be built at a minimum of $10,000. The car has 103,000 miles on it and only worth $3,400 in good condition. There is a class action lawsuit for this problem with other kia and hyundia vehicles but my model is not included. Case no. 8:16-cv-01033.
Hello, I am currently having issues with my 2010 kia Forte. The vehicle has been struggling to accelerate and soon eventually began to feel as if it were going to stall out all together every time I stepped on the gas. The check engine light came on and after diagnosing the code, it read p0336 (crankshaft position sensor a circuit range/performance). After some research I found that apparently there is a recall on these engines for what appears to be the same issue I am currently having. I looked up my vehicles VIN on this website and was notified that there is not currently an open recall even though I had just read that hundreds of thousands of vehicles of the same make and engine type (theta 2) were being recalled for crankshaft issues. Would like to have my car checked out via recall measures. The safety of my family is in question due to these known issues.
2014 kia Forte experienced an unexplained catastrophic engine fire while driving down the road at a steady 40mph in 40 deg. F. Weather. All suspension components showed no obvious damage, and the owner did not perform any recent service work. No symptoms such as engine lights or sounds were observed until the car began losing power and caught fire about 60 seconds later. The check engine light illuminated after smoke was observed by the driver who was stopping the car.
Upon entering a highway, a knock occurred and as rpm dropped the knocking subsided. Next day and check engine light turned on and while while in motion on a city street, vehicle stalled and rpm drop to zero. Car would not turn on an engine would not turn over. Mechanic stated that the engine "locked up".
When driving at any speed, and often times when coming to a stop and then starting to accelerate again, the vehicle loses power and turns off. At this point the check engine light, battery light, oil light and others come on. The vehicle then needs to be put in park, and turned off, and restarts with no issue. The fuel pump has been replaced but has failed to resolve the issue. Fucillo kia is also refusing to honor the warranty and continue working on the vehicle until the issue is identified. A flight recorder box was put in the vehicle to record the issue if it were to happen again on one of the occasions they gave me back the vehicle stating they were unable to duplicate the problem. The issue did occur again with flight recorder box in place but they said it did not send any signal stating there was an issue with the vehicle. The vehicle has been to them 6 times and at this point they will no longer work on the vehicle despite it being well within the 100,000 mile/10 year warranty. The issue started at 15085 miles and now at 19,000 miles the problem persists.
The contact owns a 2010 kia Forte. While driving at approximately 35mph, the check engine warning light illuminated. The steering wheel then locked and the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and the vehicle resumed normal operation. The dealer did a test drive but was unable to duplicate the failure. A diagnostic test was performed but did not produce any failure codes. There were no repairs. The failure and current mileage was 1,246.
2010 kia Forte purchased brand new on 10/17/09. 1st time taken in to dealership for check engine light being on (10/27/09) dealership stated that it was code po304--misfire #4 they stated that there was a glitch in the system and updated the computer. Diagnostic being cleared. 2nd time taken in on 11/11/09 for the check engine light being on once again and the same code coming up po304. Also 8 different recalls on the car including gas cap, cruise control, transmission, computer system and others of the same nature. Also the car is accelerating by it self. They are going back and forth with kia corporate head quarters and they still do not know how to fix any of the problems. Kia agreed to put me in a rental car and that is what I am remaining to drive at the present time.
