The contact owns a 2015 kia Optima. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 21v331000 (service brakes, hydraulic) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brakes failed to stop the vehicle immediately, causing the vehicle to crash into a curve that fractured the lower control arm and damaged the tire rims, fender, and bumper. Additionally, the vehicle later failed to start. The dealer was made aware of the failure but confirmed that parts were not yet available. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and diagnosed that either the alternator or battery was faulty. The mechanic replaced the lower control arm. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 129,403. Parts distribution disconnect.

Driving the car after multiple changes and recharging of alternator after engine recall. Over the course of 3 months, the car has stopped in the middle of the road twice after displaying all dashboard lights and then shutting down. This is the second time, I am getting the electrical system on this car serviced.

I have 63,826 miles on my 2018 kia Optima s and I drove it to the store and all my light on the dash came on when I would come to a stop and my power steering would go out and about cause me to wreck. I was told that it was my alternator but after getting a new alternator I then drove it to get dinner a few days later when the same thing started happening again and my power steering kept going out again. I have two newborn babies, a 5 year old and a 10 year old in the vehicle with me and had I wrecked when the power steering went out it could have been a bad situation.

Fourth window regulator to stop working in the past year. The window rolled down and would not roll up.
I'll start with the windows. Prior to covid my right rear passenger window motor and regulator went out. Citrus kia fixed it. Right after covid was announced my front right passenger window went out and I couldnt get my car in. 2 weeks later my front left driver window went out. When I finally got my car in they told me I was 200 miles over on my warranty to fix it. I havent had the use of either of my front windows for months. They dropped randomly going down the road. If I dont leave something wedged in the window they drop so far I have to use duct tape to adhere to it and pull up enough to grab it. Its definitely a safety issue that I cannot use my windows. And I dont know what is going on with the drive train , axle and suspension but I am eating through brand new tires every couple months. The dealership blamed it on me and seriously asked me if I was jumping curbs. I have had so many issues with this car since the motor got replaced. Not to mention my heat doesnt work unless its in defrost mode. The dealership knows about all these ongoing issues. Karen is my service advisor. I even tried to trade my car in with them and they turned it down. This car is falling apart and I am only one month away from having it for 4 years. I am the only owner it has had.
Three out of four windows have stopped working. It started with the rear passenger window about 6 months ago, then the rear driver 3 months ago, and now the front passenger about a month ago. Did some research to find it's a pretty common problem on kia's for the regulators to break. I didn't have the money at the time to fix the first one, was saving up and then second one stopped working. Definitely didn't have money for two, when third quit. Now just waiting for the last one to keel over. I don't know the exact problem, but I don't have money to fix all four windows at one time on a car that's only four years old.
My rear driver's side window started falling down all of a sudden. I had to replace the regulator and the motor. Now, just a few months later, the passenger rear window is doing the same thing. This seems like a defect. I never had to replace a window motor in my 1997 Toyota 4runner that I just traded in in July of 2018.
Tl the contact owns a 2016 kia Optima. The contact stated that all four window regulators failed. The contact was unable to get the windows to move upward and close. The contact took the vehicle to kia delray (located at 2255 s federal hwy, delray beach, FL 33483, 561-637-5500) who stated that the window regulators failed for all four windows and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided authorization to repair the rear windows. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 13306734. The approximate failure mileage was 72,000.
Car will not always start. Sometimes I have to wait 24 hours and pick up the car wherever I had to leave it cause it wouldn't start. When trying to start there's a clicking sound and all panel light start to flash. Replaced alternator and battery, still not fixed. Seen a lot of reviews complaining about the exact some problem.

Tl- the contact owns two 2016 kia altima. The contact stated while driving 60 mph, when the both rear windows started to roll down independently. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated he was unable to close the window. The vehicle was taken to local dealer rick case kia located 14500 w sunrise blvd, sunrise, FL 33323, (954) 715-7580, where it was diagnosed with needing window regulator to be replaced. The vehicle had been repaired but continued to experience the failure on October 2019. The contact stated he had experience the same failure with both vehicles. The manufacturer had not been informed of failure. The failure mileage was 37,222. Dp.
On the evening of may 17, I needed a jump after work. I went home, turned off my car but was unable to start it again so I replaced the battery. I thought I had fixed the problem until the next day when I was driving 65mph on a local interstate with my daughter in the car, all my dash lights came on, I lost navigation & radio and my power steering locked up. I went to turn on my hazards and those did not work either. I checked my mirrors to make sure no one was going to hit me and I was able to get off the highway and pull onto the shoulder. I was extremely fearful as I had minimal steering capability & was unable to notify other motorists of my disabled vehicle as my hazard lights were not functioning. I was able to get it towed to a dealership where I was told I needed a new alternator for my 3 year old car. While my mileage was at 66,500 miles, I definitely had not anticipated need to replace that part of a while. Despite that, I was more upset that I lost function of my car and was not able to warn other cars with working hazard lights.
The car had been driven for 200 miles and would not start so a new battery was purchased. While driving the vehicle on the highway it stalled, lost power and had to be pulled over. When stopping for gas the car only started after it was jumped. The vehicle has stalled multiple times while driving which is dangerous and could cause a major accident. The battery is brand new, the alternator was test and is in good condition. When the car stalls the lost of power steering makes it difficult to pull the vehicle out of the line of travel. This vehicle is being driven by a young adult that could be in danger if this continues to happen.

Tl the contact owns a 2012 kia Optima. The contact took the vehicle to don franklin somerset kia (60 highway 2227, somerset, ky 42503, (606) 679-1177) to be repaired per NHTSA campaign number: 17v224000 (engine and engine cooling). After the repair, the vehicle stalled multiple times while driving various speeds and all the instrument panel indicators illuminated. The vehicle was towed back to the same dealer where the alternator, battery fuse, and battery were replaced; however, the failures persisted. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 127,000.

I bought a 2015 kia Optima ex brand new off the lot in October 2014. Since then I have had to replace both drivers side and passenger side window regulator modules. The first one that broke (passenger) in March 2016 and was told because the window shattered its not covered under warranty. To replace the module and window it was $700. The drivers side window regulator went bad in July 2017. That was $250 to replace since the window stayed in tact. Here we are November 2018 and for the second time the passenger side regulator has gone bad. That's 3 times I have replaced the same part with kia genuine parts (purchased from kia) in 4 years. I have done extensive research and many other people have had issues with the same thing.
The contact owns a 2017 kia Optima. The contact stated that the air bag indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to weseloh kia carlsbad (located at 5331 paseo del norte, carlsbad, CA 92008 at (760) 496-3131) where it was diagnosed that the front passenger side seat belt was defective and caused the light to remain illuminated. The voltage alternator assembly needed to be repaired. The vehicle was repaired. While driving 40 mph, the vehicle inadvertently drifted to the right and left. The vehicle was then taken back to weseloh kia carlsbad, but no diagnostic codes were found and the failure could not be replicated. The vehicle was not repaired. On several occasions, while attempting to drive, the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 300.

Car was running and sat at a red light. Went to go. . . My rpms shot down to 0, battery and oil light came on and car died in the middle of the street. Everything in the car worked. Lights, windows, wipers. . . . . The car still wouldnt turn. Think its the alternator. I think you should recall them and get them fixed. Theres alot of complaints about faulty alternators on these Optimas.
First my passenger side door would not unlock (cannot get the door open at all) - my passengers have to crawl in through the window to sit in passenger seat and my 78 year old grandma can't do that so she has to sit in the back. Now 7 months later, my driver side door will not unlock with the key and when I got off the exit last night doing about 20 or 25 miles an hour, my entire car failed (lcheck engine, brake, oil, etc. Lights all came on and then my car died - total system failure). Towed the car to get checked - nothing wrong with alternator or battery per mechanic. He said kia knows they have this electrical issue and faulty locks but the cheapskates won't conduct a recall like responsible auto companies do, so he tells all his clients to never buy a kia. For me, this is a serious safety issue. I saved my money to buy my first car and I have obviously made a poor choice. What needs to be done to force kia to recall this serious safety issue? if my car goes on fire from their faulty electrical system, how do I get out of the car to save my life? where do I take my car to get repaired since I can't afford to buy a more reliable car? does anyone know how to fix this issue? I can't keep going back, so I want it fixed once and fixed right.

February 2013 started experincing electrical issues. Example: rear window brake light stopped working (had to have replaced), then trouble with turn signal light would at times not work. The air conditioner started blowing hot air: added coolant and fr( July 2013) but still isnt working right. Then then cd player had issues where it would not eject cd or fail to read the disk at all. Then the radio stopped working too. June 2014 car wouldnt start had to relpace battery but still wouldnt charge. January 2015 installed new alternator, still didnt fix the issue. Had the charging system inspected February 2015. Turned out to be a short or failure due to electrical issue has to get it fixed. Februrary 2015 electrical repairs (switch, plug, fuse). March 2015 car is making grinding noise when pressing down on the break, it is very hard to bring the car to a full stop and makes a grinding sound when making turns as well.

The contact owns a 2003 kia Optima. The contact stated that the drivers side door locked and she was unable to unlock it manually or by using the key fob. She was forced to climb into the back seat in order to exit the vehicle. When the failure recently recurred all of the doors failed to unlock. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the technician replaced the locks; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 80,000 and the current mileage was 90,000. Updated 2/11/cn the consumer stated the trunk and ignition would not unlock. The ignition and trunk lock was replaced. I brought a new 2006. 5 kia opt. At less than 3000 miles parking lights would stay on when car was off, auto lights would not turn off, dash lights would flicker. Took to dealer about 4 times and they just played with the switches and said not to worry. At about 5500 miles and a day after the first year of owner ship the car was dead and needed a tow. New battery. Two later same thing, then again 4 weeks later, replaced light switch and did wiring repairs, I now have 23500 miles on the car and have had over 12 tows or jump starts. Third battery, fuse box, alternator and other repairs. In 12/2009 with 23000 miles it dies again 4 times in 3 weeks and had to be towed, another new battery. Something unknown is draining the battery and they can't find it. Am worried that car will die out when driving it or the lighting will all go out causing me to crash.
I purchased my car in 2001 new. I had many problems since then. The alternator and axles had to be replaced in 2005. The locks are malfunctioned. They automatically lock causing us to get locked in the car. The check engine light and the air bag light has been on for a while. The car stalls, jerks when I am driving. The car failed inspection novembeer 30-emissions related. The power steering pump had to be replaced in October. I have spent so much money repairing this car. I took the car to the dealer. I purchased it from kia /bronx. My car was there for 4 days. The service mechanic refused to make the repairs and told me to pick up my car. The car was not repaired and I am still unable to get it inspected. I called the manufacturer. They are of no help. They tell me to take the car to another dealer. They also keep reminding me that the basic warranty has expired and the warranty only covers the powertrain. However, if there is a problem with the transmission, they may ask for maintenance records. The car is clearly unsafe to drive. I recently found out that there are two recalls on the 2001 kias which I was never informed about. The two recalls may be the problems my car is having. I am classifying my car as a lemon and would like help in resolving this issue.

While driving on the road at 75 mph vehicle stalled. The engine shut down. Also, electrical system shut down. Vehicle was pulled over to the curve. Then owner called dealership who was suppose to pick up vehicle up but didn't show up for about 4. 5 hours. The vehicle was towed to a garage, and was left at the shop. The next day owner called to check on the vehicle, nothing was done . The mechanic said it was the alternator. Currently, the owner was waiting for the alternator. Owner's family suffered heat exhaustion by waiting outside, and his son became ill due to heat exhaustion. The owner has not contacted kia.
2002 kia Optima lx. There is an electrical problem with the vehicle. The lights will start to flicker, and then the vehicle will lose power and shut everything down. When the temperature was around 80-90 degrees and at long distances this problem will happen. The dealership changed the battery twice, the alternator twice, the main wiring harness, and the main computer for the vehicle. This still did not fix the problem. Consumer took vehicle back to the dealership when the power wentout on 7-14-05. This caused consumer's vehicle to run a stop sign , and hit another vehicle, causing both vehicles to be totaled. The brakes went out as a result of the power outage, and could not stop the vehicle. Also, there was no steering. The vehicle was not overheating. The airbags did not deploy. Everything electrical failed with the vehicle. The fire department disconnected both batteries to prevent fire from happening. When they did this it deleted all the codes that would have told dealer what the problem was. The mechanic said that there was battery acid all over the computer, they still were unable to identify the problem. The electrical problems have been happening since purchase. Consumer has contacted the kia manufacturer at least ten times, complaint numbers for the first was 24306, on 7-18-03, and the last was on 9-13-04, complaint . 56482. When the consumer contacted the manufacture after the accident they said they wanted a copy of the police report and pictures of the vehicle after the accident.

While driving, a burning smell was detected, then the air bag light came on. After pulling into a service station the vehicle would not start. It was discovered the alternator, computer and air bag module was defective. After the repair the air bag light remained on.
This vehicles electrical system continues to fail along with nonworking lights, air conditioner, lock failure, battery and altrenator failure. Car has been worked on for same problems more than 5 times. Car has had (that I know of) 3 batteries and 2 alternators. Once the locks on the car failed and I was trapped inside vehicle for more than an hour. Locks would automatically relock faster than you could open the door.
While driving vehicle will die out due to alternator not producing enough power to charge battery, resulting in loss of power. Contacted dealer. This is a common problem with these vehicles.
Problems with battery, alternator and electrical systems. Consumer had numerous failures and repairs and the results didn't work. Once the electrical system failed, the consumer was trapped inside the vehicle for one and a half hours because the doors locks malfunctioned due to the alternator shutting down. The doors wouldn't unlock. The consumer would like a refund.
