Accelerator Pedal Problems of Kia Motor Sedona

2009 kia Sedona. Consumer states vehicle has an intermittent safety problem, gas pedal disconnect the consumer stated the problems began within a few days after the dealer performed a service upgrade to the vehicle's computer. Since November 29, 2010, the problem typically occurred at very low speeds when starting off or speeding up slightly. When the accelerator pedal was applied there was no response from the engine for 3-5 seconds. The dealer replaced the throttle body and throttle position sensor. Updated 05/10/11.

The contact owns a 2008 kia Sedona. The contact was driving 70 mph on the highway. When the accelerator pedal was engaged there was no response. Since the engine remained on the contact was able to drive the vehicle to the emergency lane. The vehicle was able to resume in operation. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who stated that the failure was contributed to the accelerator pedal position (aap) sensor. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 29,800. 2002 kia Sedona. Consumer states unintended acceleration was the cause of an accident. The vehicle took off at an accelerated speed and would not stop despite the brakes being applied. The consumers husband hit another vehicle and subsequently hit a tree. The consumer stated the accelerator was stuck.

The accelerator on my minivan would get stuck and not release. I had to throw the gearshift into neutral once to disengage it. I took the car to the dealership, they looked at it and said they could not find anything wrong with it. Similar episodes happened at least three other times. The lase time was as I was driving up my driveway into the garage with my one year old daughter in the van. The accelerator would not release and we crashed into the interior wall of my house. We, fortunately, were not hurt but there was extensive damage to my house and the van.

The contact owns a 2007 kia Sedona. While driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle accelerated and became stuck at approximately 60 mph. The contact placed both feet on the brake pedal in an attempt to stop the vehicle, but nothing happened. She then proceeded to kick the side of the accelerator pedal for approximately one minute before the pedal released. There was no crash. The dealer was notified and confirmed that the pedal sticks and will replace the accelerator pedal. The pedal is currently on order. The current mileage was 3,434 and failure mileage was 3,300. I have had numerous problems with my kia Sedona. Within a few months of ownership the head gasket blew and it was towed in and replaced. Then the windshield broke during the night in the garage with no weather extremes. I replaced that. In 2 years I've had 2 blowouts to the front driver's tire. The only 2 in my whole 30+ years of driving. Dealer says its not the car. The front wheel bearings were replaced. In Dec 2004 the engine was replaced, the lumbar support was broken and fixed, the driver's doorhandle broke and was fixed by kia. Jan18 it was back in because the hood release was not working. It was fixed and we picked up the vehicle 1/19. On 1/21 the gas pedal stuck, I brought it in and they fixed it immediately. " the cover had fallen down and they tied it back up. " obviously not a good job because it stuck again on the way home at 65mph. I was finally able to stop the car and had it towed back in. I think it is a death trap!.

While driving accelerator became inoperable between 2000, and 3000 rpms. Contacted the dealer, and was told there was plastic coating which broke in several parts. However, there was something shredding the coating.

2003 kia Sedona ex, 29 Apr 2004 sudden acceleration. While driving my kia Sedona, I was coming onto the on-ramp on I-95, exit 130 (fredericksburg, va). I was accelerating slowly onto the highway and had gained speed of about 40 mph, when the pedal suddenly dropped to the floorboard. The engine went to full-throttle, and we began to accelerate uncontrollably. I applied the brakes fully, but the engine continued to rev higher. We continued to accelerate. The cruise control was not on, and I was unable to slow the vehicle down by applying brakes. I then put the van in neutral, and pressed the brakes with a great amount of force, until we slowly decelerated. I shut the engine off, and we coasted into the side of the road, nearly hitting an oncoming bus that was entering behind us on the highway. We were able to make it home, but on 30 Apr 2004, the next morning, I attempted to start up the van to take it to the dealership, and while in park, the van went to full-throttle again, so I called a tow-truck. The kia dealership in fredericksburg, va (540)891-7400 now has the vehicle, and they have not reported to me any damages.

While my wife was going to work February 27,2003 the kia Sedona's gas pedal continued to jam which resulted in it to speed uncontrollable. When I found her on the side of the road she didn't want to drive it, so I drove to the dealer, its been there ever since unable to repair it.
