I was leaving my house and had just driven a short distance when the check engine light and the esc off came on as the car slowed to almost a stop. I pressed on the accelerator and nothing happened. I got out of the car and raised the hood and the engine was idling roughly. I turned the car off and on several times but nothing chaged; it wouldn't accelerate and the warning lights stayed on. The esc off light eventually went out and the check engine light stayed on but I was able to drive it again. I took it to a mechanic who lubricated a throttle cable after checking the codes. It worked for a few weeks after that but the esc off light came on again intermittently after that. I am afraid of losing power when I am in heavy traffic, at an intersection, merging, or anywhere I will be in danger if I cannot move out of the way of oncoming traffic.

Driving in mountains in southwest in October using cruise control at 60 mph. The cruise was disengaged by the driver as a turn approached. Vehicle suddenly accelerated fully. Brakes did not slow it and they became unresponsive. Driver put vehicle in neutral and engine continued to rev past 6000 rpm's. In neutral, vehicle was able to coast to a stop. After a tow to a repair shop, the mechanic found the cruise control assembly broke and the cable connected to the throttle recoiled pulling the throttle wide open. The mechanic disengaged the cruise control cable from the throttle and the vehicle could be driven normally without cruise.

Consumer received recall notice on 2003 kia Sedona's accelerator cable (05v-239). Dealer did not have the parts to correct the recall.

I have received a safety recall notice from Kia Motors America, inc dated August 29, 2005, notifying me that my 2004 kia Sedona requires immediate service at no cost to modify a protective sleeve around the throttle cable. I have contacted nationwide kia, the dealership where I purchased the vehicle (see contact information below), without a response to date. Nationwide kia 1600 york rd timonium, MD 21093 (410) 561-9000 (410) 561-1967 .
I received a factory safety recall notice in the mail today concerning my 2005 kia Sedona minivan. I purchased it in fort walton beach, florida while stationed at eglin afb, FL. I received military orders to move to minot afb, north dakota and found that there isn't a kia dealer within 286 miles or 5 1/2 hours. There is an authorized kia service location in minot, nd at don bessette motors but can only use them for emergency factory service. The factory recall condition states that in freezing conditions, which north dakota falls into that category, can cause the throttle cable to freeze during normal operation allowing the vehicle to maintain or accelerate speeds without warning and may cause a crash. I would like to have the Kia Motor company to either authorize me to have my car worked on here in minot or have my car towed to the nearest kia dealer at their expense and have it fixed. I work in transportation for the military and have never heard of such resistance from a car company to fix a mistake on one of their own cars. Thank you.
After the owner purchased the vehicle on July 2 2005, she received a recall letter on July 9 2005. The recall number was 05v329000. It was about the throttle cable sticking. The owner was upset because at the time of purchase, the dealership did not make her aware of any recalls on the vehicle. The owner believes that if a car has a serious safety problem, the car should not be sold until repaired. This should be a law. Cars should not be sold when they have outstanding recalls. The owner is concerned that some people after purchasing the vehicle, would not pay attention to these recall letters that arrive shortly after purchase and they could end up in an accident due to something that should be repaired before the car is sold.
The caller received a recall letter but can't get repair work done. Dealer said they did have the parts to fix it. Throttle cable and wheel barings faiked. Dealer said parts were on back order. Manufacturer has not been contacted yet.
I am the owner of a 2004 kia Sedona. Approximatley three months ago, we received notice of a recall on the vehicle. It was immediately taken in to have the repairs made - or so we thought. When we returned to get the vehicle we were told that it needed repair, but the manufacturer would not provide the dealer - bill jacobs - joliet, IL - with the parts necessary for the repair. As of today's date 9-7-05 the vehicle has not been repaired. I have made complaints to kia, numerous calls to the dealer and each time we are told the parts are expected on a boat the next day and amazingly they never arrive.
When the vehicle is cold the accelerator pedal will not go down. Vehicle has to warm up before the accelerator pedal will operate normally. Owner was informed that the accelerator throttle cable needed to be replaced. Dealer replaced the cable, and the vehicle was operating normally. The consumer stated that the gas pedal stuck and the vehilce reached 90 mph.
