1 Battery Cable problem of the 2006 Kia Motor Sedona

Failure Date: 05/12/2017

I had issues putting in park and then getting out of park. Disconnected battery cable to turn off vehicle. Battery seemed dead but had battery checked out it's fully good. Now my abs, battery, brake, esc lights all came on and vehicle has no power. Seems like it could be brake-tramission shift interlock problems?.

2 Battery Cable problem of the 2006 Kia Motor Sedona

Failure Date: 07/18/2009

The vehicle will lose power. The engine will continue running, but only at idol speed. This event can happen at any time. My wife was driving our kia at the time this event happened. The check engine light and the esc off light came on and the van had no power. After shutting the van off and restarting she was able to drive home with only the check engine light on. I pulled the neg. Battery cable and reset the ecm. I drove the van for 200 miles without incident. The next morning the van started normally, but within a minute both lights were on and the engine would not respond to any throttle input. The codes pulled from the computer are p1295, p2106, and p2135. After looking on google, this is a chronic problem plaguing kia and Hyundai vehicles. According to what I've read, it can happen at any time, on any model year. Nobody has been able to isolate the cause, except to replace the ecm, and replace the throttle body. It is only a matter of time until this happens to somebody in heavy traffic at highway speed.

3 Battery Cable problem of the 2004 Kia Motor Sedona

Failure Date: 07/18/2005

After parking van after a short trip of approximately 2 tenths of a mile the van was turned off and the key was out of the ignition and doors were locked, four houres later someone noticed smoke coming from the van. When the drivers side door was opened flames shot out of the van. After a fire extinguisher was used to extinguish the fire, it was noticed be me that the main wiring harness going to the fuse panel as well as the fuse panel was melted and smoldering. I also noticed that the radio was playing and the dash lights were flashing and the door buzzer was buzzing, all without the being in the ignition. I then proceeded to unhook the positive battery cable to kill power to the van. Kia moters came and got the van and took it to a local dealer. Upon inspection by the dealership they and Kia Motors concluded that it was not an warrenty issue. It was obvious that this was a wiring fire and was not caused by any freak act of nature or neglegience of me the owner. Kia says that it is not a manufacturer defect. Kia said to take pictures and mail them to them and turn in a claim to my insurance company. We have read of numerous fires just like the one that occured on my van on the internet.
