The sliding door on the passenger side would not latch via power control. It would close manually to the point where it was difficult to re-open again (required excessive force to pull the door open), however overhead lights remained on and the car was beeping. While driving the car door slid open 2x, both while making a left turn, slowly, on a side road. After the second time the door opened I engaged the child lock function which seemed to help. I was not comfortable driving on the highway and was able to get the vehicle home driving slowly on side streets. I called roadside assistance and arranged a tow to the dealer for this weekend. I called kia consumer affairs and was notified my car had previously been fixed for a hood latch recall but that there were no recalls for a passenger door latch.

The van's sliding side doors no longer open due to plastic clips in the tracks breaking. The doors cannot be opened from the inside or the outside. Both doors broke the same day. My son is in a wheelchair and we use the side sliding door with a ramp to get him in his wheelchair into the vehicle. He is five and was trapped in the vehicle. We had to open the back hatch and fold down the rear seats in order to get him in his wheelchair out. This is not a safe situation. I can no longer ride him or any passengers in the rear of the vehicle because it's an entrapment issue if I was to be in an accident. I note that this same issue has been addressed with a recall on later year models than mine, but has yet to be recalled on the 2008.

The side door does not close all the way and makes a loud noise. We brought it in for this before about 3 monthis ago and it started doing the same thing again. I have read many complaints about this. The door is not over used. Now the vehicle has 43000 miles on it and it is out of warranty. We have 4 children and are afraid for their saftey with a door that does not close all the way. I feel if it was fixed right the first time there wouldn't be a reoccurring issue. Thank you.

Before starting the car. The sliding drivers side door continuously will make a grinding sound when closing and then not latch. After this the only way to open the door is with the button on the ceiling. I am not able to open the door manually. It now happens everytime I close the door. I can submit a video.
Getting on freeway I just left the entrance ramp increasing my speed im at around 45 50 mph. All of sudden with no warning whatsoever the hood just flies up and crushes my windshield. I slam on my brakes trying to see around the hood and coasted over to the brim of the road making sure I was safely off the road. I get out of the car and try to pull the hood back down . I tried with great difficulty to get the hood back down and secured. And proceeded to get off the freeway and head back home. Please note I have only owned this vehicle a couple of months prior to this and was not aware of any safety issues.
Vehicle's paint has been peeling off or delaminating specifically near all the window glasses. The worse affected area which has started getting rust spots. Below and above the sliding door glasses have started peeling off and starting to show primer or under layer as well as below the back door window. I have only gotten quotes for temporary solution which would be to paint current affected areas. But after researching many articles online, this seems to me a common issue people have been complaining not only on these areas my vehicle has. So I am thinking this might happen to other areas of the vehicle which would require a full repaint job.
Turn lights and stick signals most the time do not work appropriately I turn on to the left and the right side come on some times nothing happens some times I try to use to DE left and the fourth way hazard come on. I really scare to have a crash because I send the wrong signal or get a ticket.

The sliding door motor does not close the door properly. This is not a warranty issue only a safety issue not covered by kia. The proper closing of the side door is not their concern.
Sometimes, the driver side sliding door will not shut all the way. It makes a grinding / clicking sound and then opens back up automatically. This happens when the vehicle is stationary in park.

The door actuator went out. The door worked fine when we went to the store. On the drive home the sliding door flew open. The door latch is stuck in the locked position and will not unlock. I have my doors bungee corded together.
The back frame of my 2006 kia Sedona is all corroded. Cannot drive the car any more. I bought the car in Nov-2006 and in December 2011 I had to change the front frame due to corrosion. In March 2014, I had to change the front suspension due to corrosion and now the back frame is all corroded. I would like that someone really check on kiia's materials. Is incredibly that after 5 years I had to change the front frame. And up today's day. I have the same corrosion issue. I leave in new jersey and I know that in the winter, there is lots of salt on the streets but I have never seen a problem like this on any other brand. This issue goes directly to the safety of the car.

Sliding doors get stuck shut, and unable to open them even unlocking them manually does not help, having to pull handles several times to get them to open.
18v338000 recall / manufacturer recall numbersc175 NHTSA recall number19v109 door will not automatically open back up, has shut on my children. Front passenger airbag has electrical problem.
The side sliding doors will not lock. This creates a safety hazard for my children. The locks will not lock by the automatic actuator when the car is placed in motion . And they will not lock with the power button on the control panel, nor will they lock with the electronic key fob. They will however, lock manually.

Sliding passenger side door of the van will not latch shut. We have tried this with the power door option, and also manually. The door opens unexpectedly while driving, because of the faulty latch. The latch fails, and the door opens, while stationary and while in motion, with varying speeds, and while turning.
While driving at highway speed the hood popped open and bent the hood and smashed the windshield. I already had the recall on the hood latch repaired in 2017 at a kia dealer. I brought it back to the dealer and they they cant help me and said to report it to kia corporate. The hood now wont close due to damage. The impact also broke the rear-view mirror and inside light console. It seems that hood latch problem has not been rectified. I have filed a complaint with kia and a claim with my insurance provider.

I own a 2016 kia Sedona lx. Vehicle is stationary. I began having problems with the driver's side sliding door not latching when closing a few months ago. The thing is, I rarely ever use that side for loading or unloading. More times than not I use the passenger side (curb side) door. When the door is attempting to latch, it makes a very weird sound like it is groaning. It closes, but does not latch properly. According to the dashboard, the door is still open. I took it to the original dealer and they said I need to replace the motor and cable at a cost of over $700. I've also had a fuel injector go bad $580. These situations make me wonder about your "reliability" statements. I found a technical service bulletin (sa-210) relating to Sedonas, 2015~2016 model years, group bod, number 116, dated November, 2015. It describes what to do to correct "a vehicle which may exhibit an inoperative power sliding door. " my van, according to the VIN, falls within the dates that are mentioned in the bulletin (1/6/15 - 7/6/15). To me, this seems like the bulletin pertains to my vehicle. The psd is definitely not operating correctly. Since it is not operating correctly in total, I submit therefore, that the latch is inoperable.
When driving down the road the right side sliding door comes open at times. I have reset the main fuse that it listed in the book, and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt.
The size door makes a grinding noise and will not open sometimes. It does the same when I try to close it. On average it is about 50/50 and I am concerned that #1 it will not shut one day when we need to drive it, and #2 since the door does not open and close properly what if it does not stop if someone is in the way of it? this of course happens when the van is stationary. This happens often and I noticed it first at about 40k miles. The dealership told me this is not covered under warranty.

Rear sliding doors do not fully close and make loud grinding noise. The only way to shut them is to manually push it closed.
Tl- the contact owns a 2012 kia Sedona. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle both the driver side and passenger side door would erroneously open. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. Also, while driving smoke was present inside the cabin of the vehicle. After stopping the vehicle the driver extinguished the flames coming from the blower motor wire harness located under the glove box. Also the front low beam head lights had failed on multiple occasion and had to be replaced and the backup camera was inoperable. The cause of the failures were not yet determined. The local dealer a@b kia(100 marshall st. Benwood, wva) was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 130,000. Jft.
The side doors on my 2008 kia Sedona van open unexpectedly as I am driving the van on the highway. It has done this many times in the last 4 months. I have a 2 and 3 year old in the backseat in childseats.
Rear passenger-side doors do not operate properly. Will not open with "key fob", but sometimes will manually. If open, may or may not close with fob, and extremely difficult to close manually. Also, will open themselves even when the vehicle is locked. In this particular experience, vehicle was parked at home. Doors had been locked and checked by visual inspection due to having this happen previously many times. Concern is that doors could open while driving, exposing passengers to possible danger.
Sliding doors have been malfunctioning and opening while the car is in drive and moving the driver side back door does not stop if there is something there. Sliding doors failed to close.
During very cold weather, the passenger side power door would not close.
On the morning of the incident I drove to work (approx 25 miles) at speeds in excess of 60 mph with no incident. After parking I entered my workplace. During lunch I got in the vehice and began to travel to a nearby reastaurant. I was driving at approximately 45 mph when the vheicle's hood became unlatched and opened. The hood opened with such force that the hood lift strut supports broke, allowing the hood to open, over extend, obstruct my vision, and strike the windshield. Upon striking the windshield the glass shattered. I slowly pulled to a nearby parking lot, took a picture with my phone, and closed the hood. I later called kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542 and reported the incident. I was given a case number of 13015302. I was advised to proceed to an authorized kia dealearship and be seen for NHTSA recall number 16v-389. If the latch was faulty, I was told that kia would cover the costs of repairs. When the dealership was called, I was assured that there were not recalls on my vehicle, when to the contrary, I was sent a recall document sc134 from kia case worker, billy wells. I was finally able to schedule an appointment. I dropped the vehicle off for the appointment. After approximately 4 hrs the local kia dealership serviced the vehicle and produced paper work stating that there was no problem with the equipment.
The contact owns a 2017 kia Sedona. The contact stated that the driver's side sliding door failed to open. There was an abnormal clicking noise detected. The left turn signal failed to work intermittently. Additionally, the left signal would turn on randomly to the right turn signal. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the door motor needed to be replaced. The aftermarket hitch was causing the failure for the turn signal. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to another dealer. The failure mileage was 32,000.
The clear coat is pealing from the hood and rear of vehicle. I have seen this on many of these gold colored kia Sedona's including mine thus I thought I should report.
My 2016 kia Sedona lx is having issues with the sliding doors not closing all the way. The driver side sliding door was worked on when we bought it but it has reverted to not locking once closed every time we close it. The passenger sliding door is still random. It's only when we have them opening/closing with the power option. When the power option is turned off and we manually open/shut the doors, they do latch and there is no issue.
After stopping at stop sign driving on a city street (speed limit 30), I, made a right turn and the left (driver) side, rear sliding door unlatched and slid wide open. My dog almost slid out but had his leash on and I managed to grab it before he went out the door. I got out and slammed the door manually, took off and made another right turn when again the same door slid wide open again. Parked safely and tried closing door but it would not stay shut every time I tried to close the door it would open on its own at least 6 inches remaining loose in its track (so while driving it would slide back and forward. I then tied it closed/shut but it was clearly very dangerous so I contacted my local kia the next morning and took it in. Kia completed 2 other recalls but those did not fix the issue. Kia reported that they traced the issue back to the rear door controller which was not part of the recalls but was causing the problem so they re-tied the door (similar to how I had) using my strap. I declined to pay to have this fixed as kia has already issued a technical service bulletin on this so it is happening frequently - had a passenger been in that seat on the highway they could have literally blown out the door onto the highway. I think this is extremely dangerous and a recall should be issued. My kia door has not been repaired yet and is available to be looked at in detail as needed. At the very least other kia owners need to be made aware of this so that children (and anyone sitting in the rear seat) are not harmed or killed. I do hope that kia does issue a recall on this very dangerous issue.
Tl- the contact owns a 2016 kia Sedona. The contact stated that the passenger side sliding door does not latch when trying to lock the door. The contact stated mentioned that while driving at 40 mph, the door ajar warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to king kia 953 n frederick Ave, gaithersburg, MD 20879(301) 948-3333 where the contact was informed that the door latch was not binding and the sliding door was reprogrammed. The contact stated that after the repair the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 39,000. Dr.
The power sliding door fails to lock properly at the rear of the door. This means that the door is not secured effectively. There are no warning signs on the dashboard that the door is not secure. The only sign is that a grinding/rubbing noise is made during the closing process and that it can be seen that the door is visibly not closed when viewed from outside the vehicle.
Neither of the rear sliding doors will fully close when engaged or activated by using the automatic door closures. You have to physically press the rear of the doors in order for them to engage the locking mechanisms.
Tl-the contact owns a 2016 kia Sedona. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer dutch miller kia of charleston 335 mccorkle avenue sw, south charleston, wv 25303 for repairs under NHTSA recall number: 18v338000 ( structure, electrical system ), while at the dealer and after repairs were performed, the power sliding door did not auto-reverse crushing the contact upper arm. The following day the contact went to urgent care. Treated and released. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 54,000. VIN was not available. Bp.
