Equipment Problems of Kia Motor Sedona - part 2

Driving and van started decelerating while still pressing gas. Got off road. Turned off van. Smelled something burning. Called tow truck. Tried to re-start and won’t turn over. Mechanic said the fuel rails too low code and cylinder misfire. Engine is now damaged due hydraulic lock. Kia recalled 2011-2012 vans for defective fuel rail and possible fire. Will not assist as we are 2nd owners and don’t fall under warranty. It def could have caught on fire based on what I researched. Please advise.

The door locks on passenger sliding doors,do not keep doors shut,they remain open on both sides and have to use a screw driver to rotate the mechanism.

Passenger side back, sliding door will not close securely. The risk is mainly because my grandchildren ride in those seats and the door not securing and subsequent lack of auto door locks when gear shift is moved from park is not safe. When we use that door, the indicator light on the dash is lit and the dinging bells alerts us it is not secure. We have to push in on the back of the door to, hear the click, get it secured. Otherwise the indicator light stays lit and the doors will not lock automatically as they should.

Side sliding doors do not shut completely, the doors malfunction and will not open correctly as well.

Driver-side rear powered sliding door will not latch properly. Door slid completely open during turn. Power to sliding door off at that time. Also intermittent problems with passenger side rear sliding door.

The rear passenger sliding door will open and close on it's own while moving and the only way to close completely is to close from the outside while pushing it closed. When using the button in the back it will close then open right up again and make a loud noise. The button above the windshield in from will cause it to close then open back up too while making a loud noise. It has to be closed from the outside by pushing on the door. There is nothing obstructing the door either. This VIN number was not part of the recall according to the NHTSA website. This has been ongoing for years, so there is no specific dates.

The contact owns a 2006kia Sedona. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked in a parking lot, the vehicle erupted in flames without warning. Fire marshals were called and extinguished the fire. No one was injured and a report was taken. The vehicle was towed to the the contacts residence. The manufacturer was informed of failure and is awaiting a response. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.

The contact owns a 2017 kia Sedona. The contact stated while using the original jack that came with the vehicle, when one side of the jack bented and caused the vehicle collapsed. The contact stated he pulled his back and did seek medical attention at a walk-in clinic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure.

Our kia Sedona van was stolen on the overnight hours of 10/18/2021 from our driveway. This has been a rampant issue in our area because, it seems, certain model year kia vehicles have a vulnerability that makes it easy to steal in just a few minutes. Because of this theft, we were without a secondary vehicle until 11/8/2021 and we had to pay out of pocket for a rental during much of that time (once we realized we couldn't get by with just one vehicle). In order to minimize our losses, we purchased a used vehicle with similar mileage and year, but we were still out over $1500 and many hours of our time to deal with all of the issues that arose because of this. These particular vehicles need to be recalled and retrofitted with some sort of security, as thousands of families have had to deal with similar issues as us.

(1) the right passenger door came ajar while driving on the hwy. The vehicle is available for inspection. (2) I was traveling for work & my equipment & supplies went flying onto the road causing other drivers 2 swerve & break to avoid having an accident. (3) a licensed mechanic looked at my car & concluded the latch that holds/keeps the door closed broke. (4) I called the kia dealership & was told the part needed isn't in stock, they're unsure when the part will be available & they're waiting list is already into the month of November (11/17/21). I'll be reporting this issue to my insurance company in the morning. (5) the door ajar warning lamp indicator signal didn't come on until after the door flung open.

Everything appears normal driving down road bout 45 to 50 mph. Slowed down for car n front was turning when I noticed smoke coming from under hood around headlights both sides. Then we pulled into a storage unit place. When even more smoke . I got out popped hood it was all on fire. I turned off van and a friend and I got a couple cups and dipped in water puddle and put fire out , while we were watching to make sure it restarted 2 more times. After half hour goes by and no more smoke . Closed van up found a ride home after contacting insurance company.

The passenger door will not open from the inside by pulling on the handle or pushing the door open button. Pulling on the outside door handle will not open the door as well. The remote wont open them as well. This is a safety issue as passengers can't get out of car in case of accident. I have brought it to a kia dealer and they said it works fine for them and if the problem doesn't occur when they have it they can't fix it. I have an extended warranty letter from kia that there is a problem with the rear sliding doors. I am mystified as to why I can't get this problem fixed.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? it looks like the ecu communication to my key fob failed and the engine was shutdown while I was driving the car on the highway. Then the anti-theft system called immobilizer kicked in and prevented me to start the car again. It looks like the memory of my key fob id was erased or something as my car seemed to complain that the fob was not present when it in fact it was right next to me in the center console. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? I was driving with my three young kids and wife and we and to shoulder the car in the highway. I was forced to shoulder the car because the engine shutdown in the middle of driving. This was highly unexpected behavior and my immediate thought was to pull to the side of the highway and take a look a the issue in a safer spot but parking at the side of a highway while other cars are driving past at 75mph is not the safest idea. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? the car was towed to a nearby kia dealership and they have yet to take a look at it. It has been four days since the incident. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? I filed a complaint with kia on Sunday and called today, they said they are escalating the issue but we have not heard any changes. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? there were no warnings prior to the incident, the dashboard lights turned off and an indicator light showed the immobilizer mode was on.

Hi my van started smell a lot to fuel so I looked for leaks and I found a big leak on the fuel rail rack dripping a lot of fuel on the side of engine when engine is running and the car is unsafe to drive and I’m very worried about this problem. This happened after my car stalled on the street and it never wanted to start again and when I make it start again it started smell gas.

The mud flaps on both front wheels they are starting to pop out and they rub against the tire I hear it really loud when I turn.

Vehicle is easily stolen, and is a safety risk for others. Kia's are getting stolen at an alarming rate and should be recalled! not only are they getting stolen but they pose a major safety risk because the people stealing them are crashing them, running from police, etc. Damage to my own property as well as others (mine had mysterious damage but I have no idea who or what they hit). Something must be done!.

This event occurred on June 3, 2021. The passenger sliding door sunshade (in use) began to rip from the top edge due to a 3. 4 year old child pulling on it from their front facing carseat on a long drive. Unknown to the driver, the sunshade fabric had ripped about 5 inches away, leaving a portion of the rod exposed. When the damage was noticed, the driver disconnected the shade and recessed it for the next duration of travel in an attempt to keep the child safe and to ensure no further damage to the shade. While continuing the drive child, the child reached over and had begun mouthing the end of the rod while recessed. The van later stopped. Driver opened automatic sliding door from outside unknowingly while rod was in toddler's mouth. As the door retracted to the rear, the exposed rod end was thrust down the toddler's throat. The child shrieked in pain and fear. Driver reached around and attempted to pull the rod forward from the toddler's throat unsuccessfully (because the door was still in backwards movement. The toddler's head was pinned. The child finally turned their head towards the door and the road sprung out from pressure. Child had bruising and slight bleeding from the back of throat and a scrape along the inside of the cheek where the rod drug on its way out of the mouth. Child was removed from carseat and checked for severe injuries. There was no significant bleeding, the airway was unaffected, and photographs could not be taken due to the location of the injury and the age of the child. The child was held and consoled. The child and parents were extremely traumatized and it took nearly an hour to continue the drive to the destination. Child had instantly become fearful of the carseat. The sunshade was manually removed entirely from the rod and the fabric recessed itself into the opening. The rod is intact and in possession. We will not be repairing it due to fear of a repeated injury. This event could easily occur again.

Reported as far back as and paid for repair of both sliding doors staring in 2015-2021 doors at first would not open on button press no matter which button used key fob or inside vehicle had to force pull the handles to open and eventually to close. Just a week ago April 2021 while taking my elderly mother to store while parked after leaving the store, the passenger side sliding door stuck in the open position and no amount of force nor button push would close it. In March of 2021 I received notification from kia of limited warranty extension (wty018) which specifically lists power sliding door lactching for 2011 to 2014 Sedona's. I reported the door not closing at all which happened on a Saturday when parts was likely closing for the day and when I finally got through to them on Monday dropped the car off to my same kia dealership that has done all of the repairs and place of purchase they looked at the vehicle and informed me they were not sure the roller was covered under the warranty and I would be charged $750 and only the the latch and motor of the door was covered (all parts of the same mechanism) I declined the repair being they wanted me to pay rented my own out of pocket rental for a week because I am an essential worker while I contacted kia corporate directly by phone with my issues and how rude they were trying to explain how parts of the door would not be covered the car is undrivable being the door remains open going into week two out of my own pocket I finally got someone from corp to acknowledge something is wrong and was told they would fix it in "good will" four days ago I am still without a car while they wait for part they needed and called back today to corp who called the dealer and somehow part came in "last night" but they can't pick up till Monday to fix again I am without my car and work for the county tax admin office.

We bought our 2015 kia Sedona earlier this year (2021) and are having issues with the left blinker, the sliding doors and the backup camera. With the blinker, it doesn't always activate when you plus the lever down. Sometimes you have to push it real hard. Other times you push the lever down to turn left but the right blinker comes on instead. With the doors, the rear left door doesn't always click shut all the way. It makes a grinding sound and then the back of the door unhinges. Sometimes it closes all the way only to unhinge while I am driving, sometimes 55+mph in the middle of a highway. The rear right door will not always respond to any of the automatic button commands. Once in a while it will close or open with the buttons. Other times it will partially close before reopening again. And even other times it just beeps and will not move. We have checked numerous times to make sure there are no obstructions and there aren't. With the backup camera, it is just very blurry and you cannot really tell what you are looking at other than shadows. We have wiped it down and it has done nothing to fix the issue. Kia! please help with these issues!!!!!.

Left turn signal fails to activate. Left turn signal actives right turn indicator. Left turn signal starts to activate then fails. This is very dangerous in heavy driving conditions with not being able to indicate turning intention. Vehicle in motion, all speeds. Vehicle stopped stationary. All driving conditions. Ongoing. Started 18 months ago, intermittently. Now permanent.

Manufacturer recall code sc186 repairs were completed on 7/2/20. Recall was due to fluid leaking from abs into the electrical system and could cause car to catch fire. . On 12/21/20, power steering pump replaced and 4 new tires installed. All service/repair done at dealership. On 1/14/21, driver was on morning commute and when exiting the highway, the engine made clicking noises. A few miles later on local roads, driver approached the slight incline into parking lot at work. At the bottom of the incline, the van completely stopped and stalled out. Driver pushed accelerator, car did not move forward. Driver noticed "steam" coming from under hood. Driver turned off ignition, exited vehicle to call a tow truck. Within 10 minutes, heavy smoke and flames were coming from under the hood. Fire department and police arrived to extinguish the fire. No notable weather events. Insurance company will most likely call a complete loss of vehicle. We maintainied our 2010 kia Sedona very well, with 85,000 miles. Our concern is that after the recall repairs were done, that the vehicle still caught fire.

2018nkia sadona having issues starting up after sitting over night get in try to start no start but lights on dash turn on engine no crank. After doing on and off lock unlock it tends to start . . Cannot check what's going on due to intermitting issues over long periods of time. Its not all the time some times.

Bought a van the next day my breaks were metal on metal. I found out it was flooded. The second day the key stuck in the ignition, the middle seats got stuck and will not fold up. The dealer said their mechanic went all over the van and said it was in good condition. The calipers are in very bad shape. He said they need replaced soon.

Side doors will not open unless you use the front control button sometimes the remotes work but not all the time sometimes shows on dashboard side doors are open and they are closed this was happening when previous owner had it and I'm new owner still happens.

I have handed over my car for repairing on 09-23-2020 which is still not fixed and still lying with horne kia service centre gilbert, arizona. They have messed up my car was diagnosed twice in a gap of 2 days. Horne kia wants to cover up their technician (whom they call the best in their team) they have mess my engine and sending me a second quote to change the engine. On the first week October 2020, I drove my car for 15 miles after collecting from horne kia gilbert and experienced bunch or new problems on the road. 1. The check engine light was on 2. There was heavy vibration and noise inside my car 3. My car would randomly halt in the middle of the road, while in drive mode. Since then, my car is still lying with horne kia gilbert, arizona. I have attached all the email threads sent/received to horne kia gilbert and kia consumer asst. Center. Kindly let me know if you can help me out to sort out this ongoing issue since 09-23-2020.

The power sliding doors won't latch and its mostly the driver side. It happens whether we are driving or parked.

While driving at 55mph 2 lane rual road check engine light came on then after min later esc off light came on and all the sudden I lost all throttle and rpm gas petal to floor and would only cost at 20mph and less on incline almost rear ended due to loss of throttle with no notice to traffic behind me . . Turned on emergency flashers found a place 10 miles down the road to pull off . . No cell service in rual area cranked veh back up and all lights were off started and throttled right for about a mile their was no rain snow just sunny day . . Have called kia they said they have never heard of such since we have the covid . . I went online and see alot of complaints about this issue so I have no faith that kia will fix it since all the reviews . . I had a throttle position sensor ordered it thru kia which at first they said they could not sell the sensor only but the whole throttle body. . I had to refer them to a tsa bulletin and guess what they could order one at $40 compared to $350 . . I replaced the part and it is still doing the same thing . . Frustrated with this it should be a recall since this is a ongoing issue with kia and huanda veh till date from what I have read online . . If you wish to look at my veh to see the problem you are welcome to because its unsafe for me to drive 165,000 miles.

I felt it was necessary to follow up on the open recall I have on my vehicle. I have owned the vehicle since Nov. 2019 and not once have we been contacted either by mail, verbal communication, by the NHTSA or the dealership of which the vehicle was purchased. Here we are in April 2024 and just a random click on “check recalls” button located on our vehicle insurance company website, made me aware of the open bulletin. I guess my question is, why are the insurance companies not offering the owner information on this? or even the company who has been placed as lien holder? why are we solely dependent on the usps to deliver correspondence in hopes of making it to the correct address and owner? what happens if the owner has moved and the notification of recall did not forward to the new address? too many “what if’s” in this scenario to allow unnecessary delay of repair. I’d like to see insurance companies begin notifying the owner as well. Makes sense to me. Or again, even the lien holder could attach notification to that months bill.

The driver side automatic sliding door motor seems to be failing and will not latch completely which causes the door not to close all the way.

When yesterday June 30th 2020 the brake light and the battery light came on I didn't quite understand why this was because I had never applied the emergency brake I had the battery check oil all fluids and they said that everything was good that it could have been a recall with the brake light also the abs light came on as well I do not have the brake on matter of fact I don't even know how to put it on can someone please help me it isn't doing anything weird it's just scaring me because the light will not go off and it's not just the brake light but the battery light and abs as well.
