Kia Motor Sedona owners have reported 4 problems related to tail light switch (under the exterior lighting category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Kia Motor Sedona based on all problems reported for the Sedona.
At times when driving with headlights on the driverside taillight will go out and will cause the middle and passenger brake light to stay on. If I turn the headlights off the middle and passenger taillights work only when pressing the brake peddle. I have removed the tail light and checked it for being burned out, corrosion or being loose and it is fine. I put the bulb back in and the drivers side taillight works fine and the brake lights work as normal. This happened a second time and I checked the bulb. Again nothing was wrong with it. I changed the bulb with a new one. This is actually the second new bulb in that socket. This happens while driving or standing still while headlights and tail lights are on. This started happening in December 2020. It is worrisome as you are driving with no brake lights working if you have your headlights on when it rains during the day or while driving at night and the only way you will know it's happening is if you happen to get out of your car while the headlights are turned on.

I have a 2008 kia Sedona van and have been having problems just recently with the head light bulbs burning out. I have had to replace the driver front head light bulb twice in the last 4 months. After just replacing the last bulb just a little over a month ago, my driver side brake tail light bulb is now out. Is there something wrong with a connection in the wiring with these bulbs? I have notice several kia Sedona's on the road that have blowen head light bulbs. Those bulbs are not cheap and they are also hard to find as well. This is a problem that kia should be addressing.

The contact owns a 2009 kia Sedona. The contact stated that the headlights and tail lights failed to illuminate. The dealer stated that the relay needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. In addition, while driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle suddenly decelerated and would not accelerate. The contact also stated that the brakes failed to respond and the steering wheel seized. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who diagnosed that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. On another occasion, smoke appeared under the hood when the vehicle was started. The dealer stated that the electrical harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 95,000.

The turn signals work intermittently and probably only work 15% of the time, however beginning about 2 years ago the bulbs have never both worked at the same time (meaning when you turn the switch to the left the left signal will turn on but when you then turn the switch to the right it does not work). The bulbs have been changed several times yet this never fixes the problem. The turn signal bulbs have actually only been burned out one time, proving there is some form of a short. All of the other lamps, whether it be head lamps (low or high beam), fog lights, tail lights, running lights, reverse light or tag lights, keep burning out bulbs. Every 6 weeks I'm having to replace a bulb. This is so dangerous not to mention expensive! with as many complaints as there has been posted due to this very same issue, I do not understand why kia has not found/created a solution for these issues. This really makes me not want to purchase another kia vehicle. Also, I've had intermittent problems with one of the electric sliding side doors. One door will not close on it's own. If you pull gently to get it started closing, it will then close the rest of the way by itself. There's nothing internally blocking the release pin from disengaging. This problem just started about 2 months ago.
