While applying the brake pedal at 35 mph the pedal went down to the floor and would not return. This caused the vehicle to rear end another vehicle in front of them. Upon impact, neither frontal air bag deployed. Passenger sustained neck and back injuries, and refused medical assistance.

While driving at any speed and when braking the brakes felt very mushy. Consumer depressed the brakes and pedal went to the floor. Also, there was extended stopping distance before vehicle stopped. Consumer claimed that new brakes were installed last year.
The brake pedal went all the way down to the floor. Speed was undetermined, causing the vehicle to collide with a guardrail. There were no injuries to report at this time, the victim went to the hospital for observation.
While driving vehicle, went to stop & had no brakes. Pulled up on the emergency brake, looked in rearview mirror and noticed smoke all over. Pulled over & got out quickly. Opened paseinger door to get belongings & noticed flames coming from underneath. Called 911. Car was burning tremendously. A total loss. My daughter was driving, and got out safely. This happened for no apparent reason. What a traumatic experience, especially for a 17 yr. Old.
Brakes are defective. When applying brakes pedal goes all the way down to the floor. Dealership is aware of problem.

When applying brakes at any given speed they would continue to squeak. Dealer notified and repairs were made.
While driving experienced brakes malfuntioning. Had taken vehicle to dealer seven times, and they had found out that rotors had worn out.
Consumer was traveling at approximately 30 mph and approaching a stop light. When she attempted to apply brakes, brake pedal had no resistance behind it, and went directly to floor when pressed. Consumer took vehicle out of gear and coasted through light. After this incident, brakes worked properly. Dealership was in possession of vehicle, and was repairing an unknown component in vehicle.
I bought my kia Sephia in 1998. Since then I have had the brakes fixed 2 times and tay replaced once. I have had the transmission replaced also. Recently my car has been riding very sluggish. When I press on the gas it makes a very loud sound. When I tr to accelerate the car does not seem to want to change into gears. It also constantly makes a loud humming sound when I am at about 40-50mph. This car has given me nothing but trouble and $$$. I am tryin to figure out if there has been a whole bunch of recalls I did not know about or if there is something that I may be able to do here to save money. I still owe 9,000 and feel like I am constantly inconvininced bringing the car in for constant repair. Help!.
When brakes locked rear-ended another car. As soon as car was out of the body shop took it straight to the dealer and they said the back brakes weren't functioning properly. Now 2 wks later I am taking it to the dealer again.
When attempting to make an emergency stop in traffic that came to a sudden holt, anti-lock brakes did not respond. Pedal was applied, and vehicle just began sliding, hitting another vehicle in rear. Air bags did not deploy, and seat belts did not restrain. Kia has been contacted.

I have turned this car into service two times and they state that there is nothing wrong with this vehicle. But I still have the problems and they want do anything about it. Also the vehicle was stolen from the dealership serv. Dept. On 3/6/00 and located in another state with physical damage and there are no id #'s on car any longer. I feel like this dealership should have to replace or the lemon law needs to be in effect for this car. No safety defect listed within summary.
Kia motors needs to recall the brake system on the Sephia. There are way too many people haveing problems with thier brakes. My rotors should not be worn out at 29,000 miles, none the less have to be replaced agian at 36,000. Please contact kia about this annoying and dangerous problem.
While driving at very windy conditions on dry road. Brakes went out while consumer was going 75mph on highway and tried to pass another vehicle. Had to pump brakes continuously to stop vehicle. The vehicle was sent to the dealer, and the consumer did want it fix because it almost killed his family.
Complete brakes system and rotor keep prematurely failing every 9,000 miles, causing a wheel vibration. Vehicle was sent to dealer several times for replacement of brake system and rotors, but dealer could not determine cause of failure.
