Brake Disc Rotor Problems of Kia Motor Sephia - part 1

I bought my 2000 kia Sephia around September of 1999. I had a new set of brakes and rotors at 2000 miles, again at 11000 miles, 20000, needless to say I have had about 6 sets of brakes and four sets of rotors. Not to mention calipers a couple of times. I tried to declare the lemon law on this piece of work but, the dealers would not listen. I did make a formal complaint prior. After all I have been thru I am so sick I have all but, given up. . . My brakes now, overheat and smell, the pedal goes all the way to the floor, if I had to actually stop without warning I wouldn't be able to . I have resorted to down shifting in sudden instances. The noise is unbearable not to mention embarrassing. I have taken it to several mechanics, and no one can seem to fix it. I don't know what else to do.

Transmission on vehicle was fixed 7 times. The transmission would slip, shift hard and at times the reverse gear would not work. Front rotors warped.

When my boy friend went to change the front brake pads on my 2000 Sephia he was told that kia didn't make pads for my car. We had to purchase new rotors because the old ones were so warped you could hardly drive the car. Kia said there was a defect in the rotors and that replacement ones were avaiable(at my expense). This ocurred in spring of 2003 then in sept 2003 my cv axles went out. My boy friend is an automotive technicianb and he is continuning his education at austin peay state university. He took my car to his professor who is a. S. E. Certified and he was told that the axles most likely went out due to the vibration of the rotors. We replaced the rotors but waited until the dealer told us that they were not covered by the warranty. Thus the damage incurred because of the rotors was Kia Motor comapnies fault. We have paid over 1200. 00 dollars on repairs in 2003 and this vechicle only has 42000 miles on it. Can you please help us?.

Defective brakes and rotors on 199 kia Sephia, have been replaced several times. Causes wear on tires and presents an unsafe condition.

The brakes on this car are terrible! I have been in and out of the shop since this car was bought. I have had numerous pad and rotor replacements. I even got into a rear-end accident 1 1/2 years ago that I could have avoided with competent brakes. I now have to replace the drums and rear shoes because they have been working overtime to compensate for the poor front brakes. Thanks a bunch kia! worst car I've ever driven.

When braking there would be vibration, and pedal felt soft. Dealer determined front rotors need replacing. They were worn so badly that they were not able to be turned.

I have had nothing but problems since I bought this car. First it was the rotors and brakes, then all the recalls. Brakes are going again, had to get a new battery after one year. Then the transmission went. The first time was on 11/16/01 and I was out of state. Didn't get a car while it was being fixed. Husband had to rent a car. Only had 24825 miles. I missed three days of work because of it. Now, it hass happened again. On 1/19/02 on my way to work. I missed work that day. Of course it is a weekend and can't get ahold of anybody. It has only been two months since last time and I was told it will never happen again, cause they have a new and improved transmission. Imagine that. Could someone please help me, I am so sick of this car. I need a car I can rely on for work. I have to go on meetings outside and this is kind of hard without a vehicle. If I can't work I can't pay my payments now can I. Cynette cheal, va.

Only 9 month old break, rotors has become too thin, needs to be replaced.

Fuel guage faulty, has been replaced 4 times, brake rotors replaced less than 5000 miles. Transmission slips.

When applying brakes at first start there is a very loud noise, and vehicle stops very hard. Once vehicle is warmed up and brakes are applied pedal goes almost to floor before there is braking action. Dealer has replaced front and rear rotors 4 times. Vehicle is scheduled to have 5th set of rotors replaced tomorrow.

The vehicles front brake pads and rotors have been replaced due to wear five times with only 13k miles on the vehicle. Nlm.

While driving about any mph vehicle will suddenly accelerate without a prior warning. Consumer will step on brakes pedal to stop acceleration, but vehicle will not stop, and concerned about fact of an accident. Transmission failed. Brakes make noise due to rotor failure. Wiper blades failed. Battery failed.

Consumer states of having problems with the brakes and rotors. Mr the consumer states that since the purchase of the vehicle, he has had to change the brakes/rotors every 4-6k miles-5 times, and still experiencing slow stopping. The consumer feels that this is a safety hazard, and the dealer states they can't help. (feels the vehicle is a lemon) scc.

Faulty brake pads and rotor caused vibration and noise. Nlm.

Brake rotors warped after approximately 15000 miles - dealer won't cover under warranty.

3rd time problem with rotors. Turned 1x,replaced 1x. Check engine light came on and they're claiming that the wiring is corroded all over the car. After taken vehicle to dealer consumer requested that pads be replaced, but tecnician told consumer that rotors had to be replaced.

Brake and rotors were squeaking. Took to dealer, and they replaced brakes. One month later, squeaking started again. Please provide any further information.

Brakes and rotors (front) have been replaced 4 times in 18,000 miles, the first time at 3300 miles. Excessive noise comes from the brakes upon stopping. The dealership noted that they would not be replacing the brakes anymore although they did indicate that they have seen problems with other Sephia brakes. Replacement so quickly is not consistent w/ normal wear and tear. . Your website indicates about 50% of the noted complaints as brake related.

At 1500 miles, brake rotors needed to be replaced due to excessive wear. Would brake, and steering wheel & brakes would vibrate. Vehicle was controllable. Brakes felt like they were pulsating & they were not abs brakes. Will be taking vehicle to dealership to check.

Vehicle stalls at any speed. Consumer had brakes/rotors and idle control valve replaced.

While driving on highway travelling 15mph in a heavy snow storm, driver's side windshield wipers just stopped working. Had brakes and rotors replaced 4 times. Dealer said that brakes were defective. Also, interior light blew out, but dealer replaced it with a dimmer light.

Kia motors needs to recall the brake system on the Sephia. There are way too many people haveing problems with thier brakes. My rotors should not be worn out at 29,000 miles, none the less have to be replaced agian at 36,000. Please contact kia about this annoying and dangerous problem.
