In the 3 years I have had the car, the brake pads and rotors have had to be replaced 4 times and are being scheduled to be replaced again. Everytime I take it in they tell my the brake system is defective, but nothing more is done.

This vehicle has been in the shop 4 times for various brake problems and although repairs were made I do not have any confidence in the reliability of this car. And, now that transmission had to be replaced, with such low mileage, I don't want to drive the car. I find it hard to believe that kia is not aware of all the problems with their vehicles! thank you for looking out for our safety.
The dealership replaced two front brake discs, front brake pads, brake booster and the brake master cylinder.
Consumer states brakes have been worked on 5 or 6 times in less than the first 18 months, dealer states this was normal because brakes were new.

I bought the car with 7000 miles on it, it has needed 4 brake jobs (every 7k -front then rear then front then rear) in the 28k that I've owned it. The rear brakes do not engage so the front brakes wear out. I had it put on a rack and someone step on the brake pedal, the rear tires could be turned easily. With strong pressure on the pedal, the rear tires were hard to move, but still could be moved by hand. The 2x the rear brakes were serviced, the cylinders had cracked and leaked. A friend has suggested this means the hydraulic pressure is going into the cylinders but they were a 'bad casting' and the pressure isn't pushing the pistons out, but eventually causes them to crack. 09/18/00 a flexplate in the transmission needed to be replaced. Less than 6 weeks later, the car went out of gear as I pulled into an intersection. It could not be driven. It was towed to the dealership and they replaced the transmission, drive shaft, and front axle on the car.
The parking brake does not hold when the engine is off only with transmission in first or reverse, the emergency brake info was misleading in the owners manual, the consumer believes the brake cable is not strong enough, the parking brake has been adjusted several times, on one occasion the brake was set on park and the vehicle rolled and hit a garage door, front disc pads and rotors failed causing grinding noise while braking. Nlm.

Brakes need to be replaced every 5 to 8 k miles.
I would just like to say that I am very upset that the problems I have seem to be repetitive. The brakes have been done 4 maybe 5 times and kia will no longer replace them. The power steering has been malfunctioned twice. I have been through the better business bureau and have worked out the first 3 times the brakes went bad but I have since been back twice and had a power steering leak and now my car is in the shop again. As for the brakes each time they went back there was severe pulsation when breaking and shaking in the steering wheel. The power steering fluid leaked and was fixed and now leaked again and is being fixed currently.
Consumer states brake pedal goes to far to the floor when coming to a stop, dealer unable to duplicate the problem.

Brakes went out after being applied. Was traveling 30mph & was trying to stop. Brake pedal went to the floor. Rearended another vehicle in front. Upon umpact, air bags failed to deploy. Vehicle was towed home.
While driving toward a major intersection the brakes failed and the consumer had to use the emergency brake to stop the vehicle, vehicle has been to dealer 2 more time but they are unable to detect the problem. Nlm.
While driving on the beltway consumer attempted to stop vehicle on heavy traffic but the brakes failed to stop. The consumer pressed on the pedal and the pedal hit the floor without stopping. The consumer served to the side to slow the vehicle down and coast. The consumer had the brakes already replaced at 9,000. Also, brake failure caused consumer into an automobile accident. Airbags did not deploy at the time of the accident. Per dealer, manufacturer is aware of brake problem.
When applying brakes, holds slowly and pedal goes all way down to floor . Dealership is aware of problem.
While trying and put on brakes vehicle shakes hard.
Consumer has complained on several occasions that the brakes squeal, the dealer has cleaned and front and rear brakes, also the parking brake is hard to release.

Brakes overheated badly, and consumer was able to smell them. Also, brake pedal went to the floor. Even when pumping it hard, brake pedal still remained at the floor. In addition, transmission failure. When shifting gears, it caused vehicle to jerk violently. Dealer notified, and was unable to resolve the problems.
