After 5 years of having my car, while keeping up with all required maintenance, I am constantly having issues with the lights. To start, the license plate lights burn out and I have to replace about every 3-4 months. The led strip over the headlight is a rip off, $700 to replace because you can't change the bulb you have to change the whole fixture?! why would any company approve of that design? so I have a missing led strip, but the other one no issue after 5 years. I just recently had the top brake light go out, another led fixture $150 to replace a 5 strip. Rip off!! a few weeks ago one of my fog lights went out, come to find out the bulb fell out. How does that even happen?! however the most problematic of them all is the driver side brake light! I've had the passenger brake light replaced one, but the driver side brake light is replaced at least every 6 months or so. Some I have paid for, some complimentary but super inconvenient to say the least. On top of that, I've had the harness replaced, tension pin repairs, and now I am having to replace the harness again for the 2nd time in 2 years. And I constantly see other kias, mainly Sorentos, with the driver brake light out. I have been pulled over several times regarding lights and one time even had guns drawn on me (when both of my license plate lights blew out). This is just ridiculous that I am always paranoid about lights. In addition this can cause an accident if someone can not see me, or possibly get me harmed if cops can't see my license plate. Kia needs to do a recall and upgrade the lighting to last for a normal amount of time and/or replace harnesses. Led lighting should be replaced for free for making it so difficult to replace the bulb. Or upgrade to lighting where we are able to replace the bulb without having to replace the whole fixture. I know I am not the only one and its not fair to consumers.

Noticed tonight driving in the dark that my low beam headlights were not working. The little small led lights above the lights work and my high beams work also. I find it hard that both low beams would burn out at the same time. All three green light indicators on my dash show that my lights are on or working along with my lower fog lights.
The headlights on my car are dangerously dim. I have resorted to having to run my fog lights just to get enough light on the road. I've tried numerous types of after market lights and nothing makes them brighter. I believe this is a safety hazard that kia somehow missed.

Issue #1: the lf headlight assembly on my vehicle even after being repaired and then replaced continues to stop working. In August 2017, my lf headlight started intermittently going out and by September 2017 failed permanently. I checked the light bulb which wasn't the issue and found that the connector to the bulb was burnt out with one of the prongs melted. I cut off the end and replaced it with a new socket (a h8/h11 headlight wiring harness socket - dorman# 84783). After replacing the socket, I drove my vehicle a couple days and lf headlight failed once again. First shutting off intermittently and then completely. I then took the vehicle to my local dealership, darcars lanham kia, 9020 lanham severn rd, lanham, MD 20706. The dealership said the headlight assemble had a short and had to be replaced. I drove the vehicle home, ordered a new headlight, installed it and then drove my vehicle for a couple more days. Once again, the headlight started to fail intermittently, so I took the vehicle back to the dealership again. The new headlight failed completely while at the dealership. The dealership is now asking me to buy another headlight assembly while they reach our to kia to identify any other possible causes for the failure. Issue #2: in September 2017, both the lf and rf fog lights started also failing intermittently. At the dealership, they say that pieces of the housings for both fog lights have fallen into the lighting area and are hitting the light bulbs causing them to intermittently go out. And, of course my expense extended warranty doesn't cover the lf headlight nor the fog lights! my vehicle has about 85,000 miles and the premium warranty which last up to 100,000 miles is completely useless. So now, my vehicle now only has one working headlight and its a relatively new vehicle!.

The wipers and headlights would randomly come in and out of working conditions. You don't know when wipers are working until it starts raining so it was very dangerous. We had to pull over and either wait for the rain to stop or wait until the wipers started working again. The backup camera also comes in and out. You can see the screen warning you to be careful but the camera itself is absent. The door handle fell off onto the floor with no prior warning. No one hit it or anything. We opened the backseat in front of our home then drove to the airport and tried to open it again and it fell off onto the ground. The top of the door handle and parts inside that make the handle work. And now most recently our ac is not working properly coming in and out of proper function, nor are our headlights working again. You don't know when headlights are working until you need them so we used fog lights instead as evening just set and we couldn't wait for the sun to come out to continue driving. For a brand new car there are many issues with this car, otherwise we love it and the way it drives and brakes so well.
Tl- the contact owns a 2011 kia Sorento. The contact stated that the passenger side fog light failed to illuminate and was replaced. Shortly after the first failure with the lighting, the drivers side head light failed to illuminate as well. The contact was uncertain as to what was causing the internal electrical failure affecting the head lamp assembly. The vehicle was inspected by an independent mechanic who diagnosed that there was an internal short within the head light assembly unit, the vehicle needed to be taken to a dealer to receive a remedy to repair the vehicle. The dealer kia fargo (3901 2nd Ave s, fargo, nd 58103, 888-569-7621) was contacted and the contact was waiting to determine when they may schedule an appointment to diagnose the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, indicated that the vehicle was out of the 5 yr 60,000 warranty and to have a dealer diagnose and repair the vehicle. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000. Dyd.

I am having a constant issue with my headlights mainly on the passenger side. All three lights (high beam, low beam and fog light) on the passenger side are dim. When I disconnect the low beam bulb the the other two bulbs light up fully. When I connect the low beam bulb back there is a humming sound that starts and all passenger side bulbs go dim again. My kia Sorento has had this problem for going on six years now. Usually we could cut the car off and back on and the lights would turn back bright. The past couple of time we have had to change the bulbs. Now nothing seems to help. When changing the bulbs they all stay dim unless I disconnect the low beam bulb which I can't do for safety reasons. And to avoid getting a ticket I have to drive with the passenger side dim. Next step is to try and replace the head light wiring harness or take it to the kia service deapartment.

Own a 2005 kia Sorento. We have a continuous problem with the lights burning out. This includes the headlights, brake lights, park lights, and fog lights. These lights burn out about every 3 to 4 months. Now the power seat has stopped moving forward or back. The driver's side power seat will not move forward or backward. A shorter person that my wife moved her car and she adjusted the seats. When my wife got into the car she was unable to put the seat in the original position. I have tried to jockey the switch back and forth and up and down and the seat will not move.

I have had to replace the bulbs in this vehicle every few months. Brake lights, head lights, fog lights, blinkers etc. This is insane. I keep getting tickets, and now 2 days ago the officer recognized me from pulling me over for the same thing 6 months ago.
Headlights/fog lights need to be replaced every 3-4 months. I bought my car new so I know it is not the fault of anyone else, other than the manufacturer. Each bulb costs approximately $19. 00 [depending on brand and type of bulb}. I know I have spent hundreds of dollars on bulbs since 2003; it is now 2009.
