Noticed that I had a brake light out on the passenger side, replaced it with proper bulb 1157. A double filament bulb. It appears that is also the tail light? checked light and it worked but later realized that when I pressed the brake pedal the brake light was out. The next day noticed the driver tail light was out and replaced it but later realized the brake light didnt work,as well as my cruise control stopped working at the same time. Went to an auto care store they replaced both of the lightsand again tail lights worked but when I pressed brake pedal no lights. Checked and replaced the fuse just to be sure and at this point I got on the internet and seen 285 complaints with the same problem and the majority of them said there cruise control had stopped working as well as the sportage model and the kia soul. Most suggestions said replace the brake switch. I also checked for faulty wiring and that has not appeared to be the problem and mechanics 90 % of the time were unable to resolve the issue. Why has there not been a recall or some solution to this problem researched by kia mechanics? im still waiting for the answer and I suspect many other people are too!!!!!!thank you very much and ihope you will be able to solve this or issue a recall on the brake switch? or the cruise control sensor maybe idk.

Low beam headlights, and tail lights, burning out frequently, and at the same time! this happens at least once per year, and both headlights go out at the same time, leaving my family and I driving in the dark. This seems to happen when you start the vehicle. It's been an ongoing issue for 3+ years. It's very scary and a significant safety issue, rendering the vehicle useless until repaired. I see online that there are thousands of others who have this same issue. Kia customer service will not acknowledge that this is a known issue (even though the local dealership did) and both kia and the dealership agree that this problem is not covered under warranty because there has not been a recall. This is a life or death situation and kia needs to take ownership of it before someone gets hurt. Cars need functioning headlights and break lights.

I bought my 2016 kia Sorento in 2019 since I purchased it the motor has went out in it which had to be replaced which I had to pay the warranty fee plus other cost not included in the warrenty, I have had to change my back tail light at least once a month because it keeps going out and I don't know why the transmission seems to stall when I try to accelerate it makes a noise that sounds like open air the car jumps slightly sometimes and at times it won't accelerate here recently on 2 occasions the accelerator still accelerated after I removed my foot from the pedal this scared me mainly because my kids were in the car and it seemed like it was accelerating to full capacity after tapping the pedal with my foot multiple times if finally released.

I am having an issue with my low beam headlights. The bulb has to be replaced at least every three months. When I turn the lights off sometimes they do not come back on so because of this issue I am forced to leave headlights on at all times and they still go out after a couple months. Owning the car for 2 years I have already replaced tail lights twice and headlights 7 times. There is something very wrong here, no car from 2014 should have replaced headlights 7 times much less 7 times since 2018!! on July 22, 2020 while driving home from work at night, both headlights burnt out at the same time and I was forced to drive home with my high beams on.
The right rear tail light is inoperable intermittently. I changed the tail light bulbs twice and it is still inoperable intermittently. There is no corrosion or burn marks on the socket. It was first brought to my attention when I was pulled over for a traffic stop due to the tail light being out. The police officer told me it is a safety issue as others cannot see me. When I got back home and asked my spouse to come out and look at it it was working again (15 minute span of time). It is not a fuse as all other items on this circuit are operable. It will be out and 30 minutes later it is working.
The passenger headlight and tail light bulbs burn out quickly. The connector to the low beam headlight has melted and been replaced many times, even by the dealership. There is likely too much amperage and or power going to the passenger side of the vehicle, causing the issue and possibly due to a faulty wiring design.
While the vehicle is in motion, on both city streets and interstates, and at both low or higher speeds the vehicle's headlights, tail lights and other lighting will turn off on their own. This is extremely dangerous specifically after sunset when it is completely dark. I took the vehicle for repair at my local kia dealer for service and they said there is an "open circuit in ipm (fuse block). " I think this should be a mandatory recall to rectify the situation and make all the vehicles safe for my family, myself and for other drivers and passengers on the road who could end up in an accident due to this issue.
I have a 2014 lx with nothing special other than heated front seats. Regular ignition, 6cyl with almost 148k miles. Issue 1- at approx 100k my dash started lighting up with abs, e-brake, trac, and tps lights. Ebrake and tps were intermittent and only came on after it rained it seemed. After plugging it up and getting no codes I took it to the dealer June 2017 and they informed me it was no big deal but it was part of a recall for a sensor. However, kia had not provided them with the necessary tools to fix it. It's now August 2018 and I am still waiting. Issue 2- at approx 130k miles my steering controls for bluetooth and radio stopped working. The radio itself works, but when attempting to seek or adjust volume with steering controls the voice command pops up. Issue 3- at approx 145k cruise control stopped working. I can turn it on and set speed, but in less than a mile it disengages. I have found if I turn off the eco it works as it should. Issue 4 I found today. After getting a message from a random stranger through my advertised business on the back window I was informed that I have no brake lights except for the one on top (third). I just replaced them in July after a random stranger told me that they were out. When I got the message (after making my 60 mile commute to work) I grabbed a coworker to come out and troubleshoot with me. We checked fuses and they are fine. Third light works, tail lights work, turn signals and backup lights work. We took apart the tail light assembly and pulled the bulbs to check them and the bulbs are still intact (filament still completely intact) but the bulbs are charred black and the harness socket appears to have gotten extremely hot. Also the bottom of the bulb is glossy like it melted.
The passenger tail light went dim (while braking) and then stopped working (only when braking). Replacing the bulb does not fix the problem. Kia dealer says they will have to put on a machine and they think its an internal computer issue. I have noticed many other Sorento's with the exact same tail light out when braking.

The headlights and tail lights continuously blow the bulbs and the brake light housing looks to be brown like it overheated on the drivers side. Also the steering wheel controls have a mind of there own, you push say the volume down key and the voice recognition comes on none of the buttons on the driver side seem to do what they are supposed to do on the steering wheel.
One of my tail lights went out. Right after I changed it, my driver side head light went out. I changed the bulb and it worked for a short time. I did this 2 more times in 2 months. Then I had a repair shop change the bulb and they said the connector was melted and it was unsafe. They installed a new connector and bulb. Within 2 weeks the passenger side went out. The connector was also melted on that side. This went on with the tail lights and headlights for months. I finally had to get a new headlight assembly on the driver side. Within 2 weeks the passenger side went out again, and is still out at this time because the connector is melted and no one wants to fix it since it's a fire hazard.
The contact owns a 2014 kia Sorento. While the contact's son was driving, the vehicle started to make a knocking noise. The contact's son noticed smoke coming from the rear of the vehicle and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. On several occasions, the headlights and tail lights failed without warning. The contact stated that he previously replaced the lights several times, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to a kia and Hyundai dealer at 601-914-4200 where it was diagnosed that the engine had burned oil and needed to be replaced. The headlight and tail light failures could not be duplicated and would be repaired at the owner's expense. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided case number: 12391217. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 17v224000 (engine and engine cooling). The failure mileage was 70,000.
I purchased this vehicle used from a local dealership back in 2013. It had 53000 miles on it I bought the extended warranty and have been unable to use it due to when the issues developed. Within three months I had to replace the passenger side then driver side low beam lights and the front and rear tail lights. This has occurred while driving. I had to do this about once a year. I recently June 2016 changed the passenger side bulb low beam again. Now I have noticed I have no tag lights. I ordered replacement bulbs from the dealership and had them installed and they still do not work. Yet no fuses are blown and there is no smell of burning wires or melted wires anywhere.

Since the day I purchased this vehicle I have had to replace the headlights or tail lights almost every other month. I believe there is something wrong with the electrical system. Lately the lights and the fan will not shut off on the car. I had to pull out the battery just to get it to go off. The ac and heater switch back and forth constantly. One day you can only use the heater then the next week you can only use the ac. I have replace switches over and over and it only temporarily fixes these problems. Gas mileage is absolutely terrible.
Just driving down the road in the neighborhood. Made a turn on to a street and heard a loud noise and engine cut off and power steering had quit working. If I was going fast would have been a wreck. I got it stopped and had to have it towed home. My husband looked under hood and a belt was loose and the crankshaft bolt was laying there broke off. Called kia and they said it is not under warranty for that. I have 92,500 on my SUV and the powertrain is for 100,000 miles but they say a bolt is not covered. I have read online - this has happened to several people. Now hundreds of dollars to have it fixed. Should be a recall before someone gets killed. . . Also they should recall about the head and tail lights - they have to have a bulb replaced at least once a month and the interior light does not work. Has been this way since I bought the vehicle.
I purchased this car in new in 2006 I have replace four tail lights and as of today when the head light went out this will be the fifth headlight, I am afraid for my daughter to park in the garage in case it should set the house on fire, there is obviously a short in the electrical system.
Help!! I am constantly replacing head lights, tail lights, brake lights, fog lights. Every single month it's one light or another in a continuous cycle. I see many complaints for this same issue. I love my kia sorrento other than this problem. I feel that this is a safety issue as much as it is a nuisance not to mention an expense!!! kia, do the right thing!! please. Summary: update to below problem I bought my Sorento in 2004, new. I replaced the coolant reservoir at 61000 miles due to overheating, replaced the low beam headlight bulbs on 4 occasions, tail lights on 2 occasions. My vehicle, 5 speed manual transmission, started to have a roaring noise approx. 6 months ago and the u-joints were replaced. It still roars. It quit running on 2-16-12 while I was driving, but restarted. It finally quit again and would not restart on 2-17-12. Check engine light indicate a fuel pressure sensor problem, but mechanic says this should not cause the problem I presently have. It has been in the shop since 2-18-12. The mechanic said it started for him. I insisted he let it run for a while and see what happens. Sure enough, it quit. Kia mechanic told me it may be a crank or cam sensor issue. Other problems--front dome light off and on at will, rear one works, clock on and off at will, vehicle hums loudly when driving for a while. It has been a reliable vehicle for the most part, but when there is an issue, it is hard to detect. Above work was completed at a cost of 1126,00. But now crankshaft bolt broke while driving costing damage to engine heads. Vehicle went back into shop and is still waiting repairs. Kia owes it customers better service and must pay repair cost and take responsibility for the faulty crankshaft bolts they provide to the mechanics .

2006 Sorento ex was bought in 2009, with 56,000 miles. Currently has 103,000 miles and is a constant electrical battle. Have replaced numerous headlights and tail lights. The interior dome light only works when manually switched "on," and the "a/c" setting control dial only lights up after you fiddle with it. The driver's seat motor has partially died so that the seat reclines back but will not go straight up again. The front two window motors seem to be on their last legs. The front passenger door lock actuator mechanism died last year and would make an awful, loud buzzing sound whenever the door lock button would be pressed. The interior dash lights are starting to intermittently go out. It's quite scary to be driving along at night and everything on the panel goes black. Have replaced battery once since buying it when it died with absolutely no warning.
I constantly have to change tail lights and head lights on my vehicle. Every 4/5 months they are going out. Also the interior light above in the back seating area does not come on when the doors are open, only if manually pressed on and off. The light behind the panel controlling the heat/air temperatures is no longer functional. No one else seems to change their lights as frequently as I do, if at all since they've had their cars. It seems to be an issue with the electrical system.
There has been multiple times of me changing both headlights and taillights. Now my brake lights are out at the same time along with one headlight. The lights are not even 2 weeks old. It really is scary to know that my lights can go out at any time. (which has happened, thankfully not when it was completely dark) and today, I almost got into a wreck because I wasn't aware that my 2 week old tail lights are out. My dash board lights and my dome light flickers and I have to hit the top of the dashboard for them to come back on. This has been going on for about 2 years and I have seen alot of the same complaints with this make and year. Kia really needs to do something about this.
The head and tail lights have to be replaced on a regular basis. I have replaced all 4 lights at least 6 - 10 times each, since buying the 2006 Sorento brand new. And it is my understanding from numerous others that this is a norm with this make and model car. You can replace one light and it will be okay for awhile, but then another one will go out, I have asked the mechanic if this is normal, seeing I have not replaced the lights in my 1996 chevy a fraction of the times I have the Sorento. The replay was, no this is not normal that their must be an electrical problem somewhere in the system. I also have problems with the cruise control feature. It will not resume, or accelerate. The other two buttons work as designed.
2004 kia Sorento. The rear tail lights and front fog lights burn out frequently. This leaves me unknowingly driving at night without proper lighting. I usually find out when other drivers tell me my lights are out. There is either an electrical or fuzebox problem with the kia Sorento from 2003-06. So far, kia has refused to acknowledge the problem. . Read more...
Headlights (low beam), tail lights keep burning out every two to three months consistently. Always have to replace which is not only expensive but a danger to myself and other drivers. Car is a 2006 kia Sorento ex.
I have a 2005 kia Sorento that constantly has headlights, tail lights, fog lights & brake lights that constantly go out. I normally have to replace one of these lights at least once a month. . . . . . I've started keeping my receipts because hopefully kia will stand by their vehicles and finally do a recall on this. I look online and several people are complaining about the same issue, but it looks as if kia isn't standing by their vehicle. I have no intention on purchasing a kia again. I have called their service department quite a few times to see if their has been a recall issued yet, but the servicemen seem to blow the issue off.
Headlights replaced with xenon headlights. They blew, both at the same time, about 60 days after installation. Then I replaced them again with the same lights, again, one blew about 3 months later. Replaced them with regular headlights. Drivers side blew, replaced it, both blew again about 4 months later. Last week, drivers side went, replaced it, and the passenger side blew the very next day. With the amount of complaints I have seen online, kia should be doing something about this. I have also had to change side markers, tail lights (twice) and a directional (twice). I have only owned the vehicle since 10/2010.
This car is a safety hazard. Headlights/tail lights/dashboard lights burn out within months of replacements. Just burned through 5 fuses for the dashboard in one day. Dealership will not fix as there has been no recall. Google the make and model and you will see many electrical issues and angry owners. Have a teen driver in the family and we are afraid to let her even drive this car. Please recall this model and make kia own up to their responsibilities!!!!.
This 2006 kia Sorento has other electrical issues other than just the brake switch. We are constantly replacing the bulbs in the headlights, tail lights, brake lights and parking lights. This is become a complete pain in the neck. I feel it is a safety issue since how my lights go out for no apparent reason. We have also noticed that during the day when we are not using the dash lights that when we apply the brakes the dash lights come on and so do the parking lights. The fact that I drive around without knowing when my lights are blown or not can create a terrible accident. Please look into this further.
My sister purchased this vehicle new and has had nothing but problems with it and problems with dealership/kia honoring their 10 year/100,000 mile warranty. She purchased this vehicle believing she would be driving a quality vehicle (advertising 10 year/100,000 mile warranty she assumed it must be of high quality because who would offer that kind of warranty if it was junk. . . . Wrong!) she has had nothing but stress, financial expense, lost work time, and a battle of her life trying to seek consumer justice. . . Dealership, Kia Motors, lemon law requires a part to fail four times, attorney generals office, conciliation court, writing to ruukivina, oberstar, and most recently amy klobuchar. . . All failed. No one has said that they will investigate kia and protect the consumers from this fraudulent automobile manufacturer. Why? the problems she has had with her vehicle consist of rust on the tailgate and rear doors just a few months after purchasing, all kinds of electrical problems from headlights and tail lights burning out numerous times, the digital dash for radio and heater going black, the heater not work, a relay switch for fan failed, foam between windshield and frame coming out tapping on the window, a problem with the coolant reservoir, the rear driveshaft failed, the transmission had to be replaced and most recently the transfer case. Safety issues and concerns would be with tail lights and headlights burning out prematurely and frequently and the crankshaft bolt broke causing to loose all ability to steer the vehicle. There are probably other problems she has had with the vehicle but I do not recall at this time.
Headlights both sides will go out on regular basis without warning -dash lights go out on regular basis-a/c unit will short out causing burn smell -window switches and tail lights will stop working on regular basis I have found many complaints about these problems.
The day after we purchased this vehicle I had to change the right brake light, sinse then I've had to change the headlights both at least twice, assorted tail lights each side at least three times, the front dome light will not come on when you open the doors but can be swiched on, now dash lights are going off one at a time some can be wiggled and come on for a few seconds. This has gone from annoying to a safety issue, and I read a lot of people on line with 06 Sorentos have the same problem and have been told by the deeler that it will cost them a lot of money to fix. I feel like all the others this should be kia's responibility to fix.
I have had to replace at least a head light and/or tail light about once every three months since I bought my vehicle. It seems like there is a short somewhere but none to be found; please help!.
I have replaced well over 10 headlight bulbs in my kia Sorento. I'm a fanatic about making sure my car is in the best of order. Once a bulb is out it is replaced the same day. At first I thought, "yeah bulbs burn out," but come on already. I have every receipt showing how many I have bought and replaced. What gives? dome lights, tail lights and such have been replaced too however there have been way more low-beam light bulbs replaced then I believe is normal.
