2 Transmission Failure problem of the 2016 Kia Motor Sorento

Failure Date: 08/27/2018

My transmission failed while driving, stopping and picking up became unsafe. I took it into a kia dealership since it became dangerous to drive. I was then told that there was a TSB sa292 patch that was intended to prevent this exact issue. Kia is only willing to cover part of the cost. I feel this issue should be a recall since it makes the vehicle dangerous to drive.

3 Transmission Failure problem of the 2011 Kia Motor Sorento

Failure Date: 07/29/2018

My 2011 kia Sorento has been trouble from day one. A week after I bought it, the wiring harness had to be replaced which took over a month to get the part from kia. Then at 90,000 miles the transmission started failing and it took me forever to get kia to replace that. Then the replacement transmission went bad less than a year later and they replaced that. Now, at 120,000 miles (out of warranty) the motor has died. Grindstaff kia in johnson city, TN tells me it is a internal failure of the motor, it could be a rod or cam, but they would not know unless they took the motor apart. Kia's product is terrible and a safety hazard. When the motor stopped my husband was in 65 mile an hour traffic and could have been injured when it started to loose power and then the starter stuck and wires started smoking which could have caused a fire. My motor was a 4 cylinder 2. 4 liter engine that needs to be recalled by kia for failures. They want to chage me $5500 plus tax to put another engine in the junk, which to me is adding good money to bad product. I also still owe a bank $$ for this car which is going to be negative equity I'm sure. Kia should stand behind it's product and recall this engine which is junk. I will not buy kia again, that is for sure!.

Transmission failed on a 2011 kia Sorento with 22k miles on it. We were pulling out into an intersection when it completely lost power. The only warning that I have seen in reference to a possible transmission issue is that the car idles high (at about 3500 rpm) in the morning. 7 Transmission Failure problem of the 2011 Kia Motor Sorento

Failure Date: 03/09/2011

I was traveling from columbus ohio to toledo ohio on a business trip. The trip started out normally, but when I arrived in toledo and pulled off at an I-75 exit, my transmission failed as I was exiting. Did not have any forward motion at the exit and heard only grinding sounds coming from the transmission when I tried to move. Ended up having it towed to the nearest kia dealership. The dealership replaced the transmission, but I'm hearing a strange whine coming from the replacement transmission. This could have caused an accident if I had been traveling at 70 mph on the interstate. This issue needs a recall from kia.

2011 kia Sorento; rental vehicle from national rental. Cruising at 65 mph and car began to violently jerk causing partial loss of control. Made popping sounds, and smoke came out rear of vehicle. Car barely moved and had to be towed from scene. During incident, vehicle was very hard to keep under control and in designated traffic lane. National rental sent a tow truck and a replacement vehicle. This kia had 62 miles on it at time of failure. Tow driver thought it was a transmission failure. This incident nearly caused me to totally loose control of vehicle and crash. I consider myself very lucky to get car stopped before having an accident. All I have is last digits of VIN taken from rental paperwork.
