Catalytic converter kept getting hot, was at dealership for a recall on engine in may 2022, light kept coming on and off. October 3, 2022 broke down on freeway for the catalytic took to mechanic spent $1200 for repair on catalytic converter, oil and spark plugs, within a day kept burning oil, by Sunday, October 23, 2022 broke down on freeway again and engine fried and burned piston #2 - I have many receipts for oil changes every 3k miles, always keep car maintained and have a notebook for everything I have repaired. The headlights and brake lights went out a month ago and never did get the brake bar light replaced. The passenger window motor is shot and the airbag light is on. Currently, it's at the dealership parked and I am waiting for corporate to give a go ahead to say it's a go to fix it, and I'm missing work and will loose my job without having a car. So I am asking why is my car not on the recall list if I am having the same issues as the recalled 2016 kia Souls are having. I haven't had the car very long and I had a 2009 kia sportage lx that is still going over 330k miles it's way better than these Souls. They all need to be sent back to the dealership and destroyed. Shame on kia corporation for allowing these 2016 cars on the market and shame on the dealership to sell me this car back in August 2019. People are out here struggling and only shows the corporations stay strong and the little guys loose. What kind of crap is that? why isn't my car on the VIN recall list? please tell me? I'm just lucky the car didn't start fire, because it burned piston #2.

Upon my last service at the dealership they told me my oil was low. This was the first time ever having to add oil. I continued to monitor the issue. Last week we drove the car approx 50 miles home. The next morning the car would not start at all. We had it towed to the dealer and they told me the engine is gone. The car has 97,000 miles and has been maintained myself for the last 6 years using synthetic oil.

Vehicle will just randomly not start. Get in car turn on key and nothing, lights, radio, ect all work, but car will not start. So far if you wait a short time and try again it starts and all is fine. I thought that it was the battery so I replaced it and all was good for about 6 months, and then about 2 weeks ago it did the same thing, would not start. Went about my business in another car, came home about 1 hour later, got into car and it started right up and has been fine since. I have gone online and have seen this is a common problem, but there does not appear to be anything that the dealer can do. They replace different parts, but it occurs again. Lots on money being spent and no results to be had. Very frustrating . This has happen about 15 times in the last year, but it does start if you wait awhile. At least my has, but I note that others have not.

Car would not start when start button depressed. Lights on dash and radio come on but car will not start by pushing on button either with finger or Smart key. In the past, the car has eventually started but not today. Dealership has checked car twice with no correctve action even suggested. They say the have no idea for repairs because car always starts at the shop. They suggest having the car towed to the shop when failure occurs and hope the car will not start when it gets to shop. The battery is new. Car was at the dealership for routine maintainence Tuesday, it is Thursday and the car will not start after many attempts. On two occasions I sat the Smart key in the cup holder after a failed attempt and the car started without me pushing the start button or having my foot on the brake pedal. It seems there are several postings about this issue on the internet with no resolution forthcoming. It is quite frustrating!.

Car would not start, it was found that the wire covers and wires were disinigrated. It was taken to shop and repaired. Then two weeks later happened again, then again on 5/10/18 the car would not start again. Vehicle was towed to shop and mechanic had advised that it was the same issue but different location, this time was worse and was told that if the vehicle would have started that it would have possibly caught on fire and endangering the safety to myself and other occupants. Was also informed that kia uses a soy based peanut oil coating for the wires. He informed that this would attract animals. I have spent over $900 for these repairs. The mechanic advised that kia is aware of this and there are no recalls as far as he is aware of.
Battery replaced 2/18. Installed w/ rotors & brake pads by dealership after this my car would not start. It was parked in my driveway. It would not even make a noise. All the dashboard lights went on. Alarm worked (installed by dealership). I got our of car locking it & tried to start manually, still nothing. 1 of the times I tried it the radio went on. After appr. 6x's the car started but idling extremely low. Kia dealership got the car that day, they had car for 9 days & could not replicate issue. I got car back 3 wks later same issue. Clock had been behind 20ish min that wk. I thought it was odd. 3/18/18 (same wk car time was off), I tried starting many x's. Everything was the same, I noticedi when dashboard lights on,I don't have. Radio would go on & off. I called kia,car was not starting, I was having it towed to them. Made video of trying to start car. The car is at the dealership again. They mentioned replacing ignition. If you google kia Soul starting issues, there are pages of them. All with same description. Dealership could not replicate issue. There is something wrong electrically in some of the Souls. It didn't appear to be limited to any particular year. Dealerships know about this issue, don't know what to do and randomly replace things. Didn't fix issue. People online stated they got so frustrated and traded in vehicle. I hope it does not come to that with me. There should be a recall or remedy for this situation. If you google it you will get so many pages on this issue with kia Soul, all years. So the problem is unknown, could potentially cause harm. I have a very clear short video 1min 30 sec.
Dashboard lights came on and car wouldn't start. Had car towed to kia of bowie MD. , who did a diagnostic and replaced electrical panel which cost estimated $200. 00 dollars including diagnostic. Kia of bowie never called and when I finally contacted someone a week later, they stated the steering column was out and would cost approximate $2000. 00 and that's the part. Car has only 70. 000 miles.
