Starter Problems of Kia Motor Soul

I am reporting the problem with the starters used in the kia Soul. My starter went out with no warning. My vehicle had less than 25,000 mi. This occurrence happened 1 yr ago. January of 2023. The temp outside was a blistering 13°below 0. I was stumped by this occurrence. After searching the web for answers- I found myself viewing utube videos for the problem I was experiencing. I found several about the symptoms, sounds and the behavior of the dash lights that verified the fact that my starter has gone out. Upon arrival at dealership garage, I was told "the manufacturer is aware of the problems with these specific starters but are not willing to do anything about it because of cost" I feel this is a true safety issue. Being January in mn winter, the temperature can be very devastating. I contacted roadside assistance (their headquarters being in florida) stated I needed to stay with my vehicle for assistance. Finally after 2 days- a tow truck showed up and towed it the whole 2 miles to the nearest dealership garage. I can't imagine what could have occurred if I had been further from home with my vulnerable mother or very young grandkids. This did take place last year, but with further a due I was encouraged to file a complaint about this experience. Hoping enough complaints will inspire an investigation, so others will not have to experience this problem or have this unsafe occurance happen to them or their loved ones.

The contact owns a 2018 kia Soul. The contact stated that the engine was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil. The contact had to add one quart of oil per week. The battery was replaced on three occasions. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to exceed 57 mph while driving. There was an abnormal creaking sound coming from the vehicle. The contact also stated that there was no oil in the oil pan, but there was no indication of a leak. The oil light was illuminated. The contact stated that the engine was limp, and the starter was becoming inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the engine was becoming inoperable, and an engine replacement was recommended. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to another local dealer, kia of naples (3325 westview dr, naples, FL 34104) for an oil consumption and rod bearing test. The manufacturer was contacted and extended the warranty to 150,000 and declined to replace the engine due to missing maintenance records. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

Car consistently won't start as if the battery is dead. Will start once battery is jumped. Battery, starter, and alternator tests come back fine.

The contact owns a 2016 kia Soul. The contact stated that while his wife was in a parking lot with the vehicle idling, the vehicle stalled without warning. An independent mechanic inspected the vehicle and informed the contact that the battery and starter functioned as designed. The local dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was 112,000.

Car is in p as rk. Car is not moving. Car is not already started. Often the car won't start. Interior lights come on when key is placed in ignition, but wont turn over. You have to wiggle the shifter or turn the steering wheel. It will eventually start. Car gurus has over 150 identical complaints. It appears it's a coil of some type. Multiple vehicles various years. He dealerships often just recommend replacing starter or battery. But the issue remains. It's a product defect. Should be a recall.

My vehicle is having issues starting. The starter and battery have all been replaced already. I had the battery replaced and soon as I drove away it stalled and I was stranded. I have read numerious complaints from other vehicle owners of the same vehicle. I need help.

While driving my vehicle, there was a knock sound under my hood. The vehicle started to slow down and started to smoke. I pulled the vehicle over and cut the engine. I then tried to restart the vehicle and it did not respond. I then had the vehicle towed to the nearest repair shop, where they told me that the rod had pierced through the engine block causing all of the oil to leak from the engine and breaking the starter.

My car was not starting. I do not drive it everyday and began to think it was the battery. I had it tested at the auto zone and thery said it was great no problems. Said it could be the starter but thought that odd with as few miles as on it. I also notice the recall for the steering issue I will schedule an appt for. I also have a light in my dash that stays on all the time.

Tl the contact owns a 2015 kia Soul. The contact stated that the vehicle would not start. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was towed to hatfield kia (1455 auto mall dr, columbus, OH 43228, (855) 226-5444) where the contact was informed that the starter failed. The contact mentioned that the failure occurred twice. During the second occurrence, the vehicle was taken to the same dealer and the contact was informed that the battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired both times. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was 30,400.
