Exterior Lighting Problems of Kia Motor Soul - part 2

The contact owns a 2011 kia Soul. The contact stated while driving 65 mph, the cruise control failed to operate as designed. The contact stated that the esc warning light was illuminated. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA campaign number: 13v114000 (exterior lighting) however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not under recall. The failure mileage was approximately 270,000.

In the past year from Feb last year till today I have bought 2 set of lightbulbs. The 1st set lasted a year the 2nd set I bought 2/1/21 and it just burnt out again. I am not buying cheap bulbs either.

The vehicle had a strange smell ever since we got it a few years back. Earlier in the month, the headlight and dashlight would flicker with the turn signal. We looked it up and set up an apppointment with a local kia dealership for recall on this issue. Then this week, the engine suddenly quit while the car was parked. The vehicle wouldn't start at all. Kia was notified and they said that there was another recall on engine sc200 on this vehicle that was just announced earlier this year. Online lookup also revealed that the smell issue can be from burning oil or a leak into catalytic converter. Other kia cars from the same years have also said to have had these issues. Then an obd ii check showed the codes 7e8 and 7e9 which has been noted online by other customers as engine problem recall for which kia has replaced their engine free of charge.

Seat belts do not lock in place when braking, but randomly lock in place while cruising. Severe electric discharge from vehicle, as well as power surges causing lights to burn out repeatedly.

My vehicle has the speaker lights package. . . For the past few months, I have noticed that when im driving my speaker lights will sometimes flash even with the switch set to off. Other times it will cycle through the mood setting. . . Again while the switch is off. Some times it will do both. . . Mood lighting and flashing to beat of the music. . . While swtiched to off. On 2/6/2021, I brought my car in for servicing. I mentioned the issue to my service advisor. Told me they would look at it. . . Cool. I'm okay with that. I leave, then come back to check the status of my car. Tells me they can't reproduce the issue. Ha! I have a video. . . I show it to the service advisor who tells me to go wait in the lobby and he'll be right back. About 30 minutes pass, my car is done. He tells me that they still can't make it do what I showed him. I'm guessing a video isn't real proof there is a real electrical issue going on. The service advisor tells me to "swing by" when it happens. Mind you I live about an hour away, I only went to friendly kia because I was told they were good. Apparently not! anyway, there is an issue kia is refusing to address. I'm guessing no one there knows what would happen if a kia vehicle were to catch fire due to a short in the system just days after having it in due to an issue with the speaker lights having a short. That would not look good being told all over the media, then in court when that person sues you for damages due to an issue you refused to correct with video proof. . . About 20 seconds of proof that there is an issue!.

January 2021 starting burning engine oil. Have been to the kia dealership numerous times complaining. Negative results regarding the situation. Engine spits - hisses - hiccups and dies. Car hopped forward and rolled backwards into traffic on the highway. Car burned through three quarts of oil within a three week time period. Check engine light is on again. The contact owns a 2014 kia Soul. The contact stated that while driving at night, the front passenger’s side low-beam headlight failed to illuminate as needed. The contact stated that while activating the high-beam headlights, the driver’s side high-beam headlight failed to illuminate as needed. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who determined that the driver’s and passenger’s side headlight assemblies had overheated and melted. The headlight assemblies and light bulbs were replaced but the failure eventually reoccurred. The contact stated that the light bulbs and headlight assemblies were replaced on several occasions. The local dealer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 100,000.

It does this stationary and in motion lights go off and sometimes flicker when turning of turning signals.

My issue is regarding the inadequate lighting supplied by the halogen lighting in my 2020 kia Soul s. The vehicle doesn't light the road far enough ahead to give the driver time to react if need be. I find myself driving with my brights on in order to see while driving at night. I contacted the kia dealer who told me that they have had the same complaint from numerous owners but there is no fix at this time. He believes kia is working on a remedy though. I attempted to replace the stock halogen bulbs with a better quality, brighter aftermarket bulb but none were available for this vehicle as yet.

Problem: multifunctional switch issue (lights flicker while I'm driving at night and turn off randomly!) car: kia Soul 2014 no apparent recall. There should be a recall on this since this is a major consumer safety issue.

I was driving down chuckanut drive. Windy road, I came to a corner going 15 mph then it felt like the engine turned off. So I pullled over to see. When I stopped the engine was still on so I put it in park turned the car off and opened hood checked oil everything seemed fine start driving again I noticed it was very touchy on gas pedal you couldn't really accelerate. I get like 2 miles down the accelerator stopped then it just had the worst noise coming from engine and the dash light said oil was blinking ! I couldn't go any further! I sat there for a couple hours finally got a hold of cab company that brought me oil I put it in and still the worst sounding noise coming from engine. My friend came and got me and my car is still on chuckanut! as we speak I'm trying to figure out what to do next chuckanut is on highway 11 in wshington state the car was in motion and now is parked on pullout on chuckanut drive.

At acceleration suddenly bogged out. Turns out to be the 02 sensor and catalytic converter over heated, burnt out newly replaced spark plugs. This is the second set of O2 sensors replaced. Master mechanic says all due over heating from exhaust.

Headlamp shutters stopped working, resulting in failure of high beams, and reduced low beam visibility. First noticed while driving on a dark street, and when high beams were turned on, nothing happened.

While getting ready for a 160 miles trip, a friend of mine check the engine oil and for our surprise it was off stick. . No oil but the light on the dashboard never got on as a warning. I took it to walmart and yes, they made the oil change with the note on papers that it had little oil only. . . Why this happened on a kia Soul 2015 with almost 50,000 miles?. . I don't understand and what might happened if I were going into the 160 miles trip without oil?. . Very risky. . I think.

I purchased a 2020 kia Soul barely 3 weeks ago. First issue is the front lights. They are constantly foggy and with humidity. Took car to the dealer and was initially told that it would clear up once high beams are turned on for 30 minutes which is unrealistic as you can't have your high beams on when there are cars in front of you. Was then told they submitted a ticket to kia as this is the second unit they had with same issue. Second issue is the front seat headrests. They push the head to far forward and causes constant headache and neckache. This can't be adjusted.

As I was driving down the highway, "55 mph" speed limit was 60 mph my acceleration went out on my car and I couldn't go any faster then 20/25mph. My car started to sound like a weed eater and I never got a single light for something being wrong. As I pulled over to the side of the road my cars engine started to make a knocking sound. I had it towed to a shop close to were I live and they told me that the engine had pieces of metal flakes in it and that it was locked. They also said that it was 3. 5 quarts low of oil but I just had the oil change and had about 3,500 miles left before I needed my next oil change. I'm writing on here because I called kia and they told me that my 2. 0 engine didn't have a recall on it, but as I research I continue to find many people who have a 2. 0 engine having the same issue of the recall on the 1. 6 engines.

Tl-the contact owns a 2014 kia Soul. -head lamp (low beam ) went out while driving. -the switch had to be turned off/on to reset -electrical, lighting tl-the contact stated that while attempting a turn traveling approximately 20 mph the low beam head lights went out, after turning the switch on/off they came back. When driving at night time the lights have been shutting off from 5 all the way up to 30 seconds and then coming back on. While driving down any given road.

Head lights, a/c, power windows, sun roof, wipers and horn all stopped working at once. It was on a hot day. Then all just started working after car had cooled down. Same thing happened once before, sometime in late June or early July 2017. I took the car to the dealer afterward but they couldn't help.

I have a 2014 kia Soul. I am having an issue with the exterior lights. While driving, whether on highway doing 70 mph or in the city doing 10 to 45 mph. The lights go out for 30 seconds will flick back on and do this repeatedly several times. No check engine or other lights are illuminated. It happens more often when using my blinker signals. This has become dangerous. Driving with my newborn baby in car and this happened almost causing a severe accident. I have been pulled over as well due to this issue. It has gotten to the point I do not feel safe driving at night time which causes several issues. Why is there no recall on this issue? this started after taking my vehicle in to fix two recalls a few months ago and has continued.

When driving with head lights on for a while lights will go off and on then off for a while until light cool down.

I was driving along the highway when I heard a clicking noise. After the noise, my car started to lose acceleration. No matter how hard I pressed the pedal, it just wouldn't go above 5mph and began making a loud noise. Had it checked out and it was determined to be the catalytic converter.

Takata recall. . Drivers side low beam keeps going out. Previously it would be out one day then when I would start my car it would come back on. In the picture both lights are working but 5 mins before only the passenger side was working. This has been an going issue for about 2 years now. Sometimes I had to replace the bulb after it being out for over a week but the bulb was not blown.

Right side head light will not always go on ( I do not know when it is going to work) , I have had it checked by mechanic also/ there is no specific time of when my light will work or not . This is not normal.

The contact owns a 2019 kia Soul. The contact stated that the driver's and passenger’s side rear brake lights malfunctioned and were replaced on several occasions. While replacing the brake light bulbs, the contact discovered that the light bulb sockets were charred and melted. Additionally, the vehicle had experienced excessive oil consumption. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 50,000.

Rarely drive at night but had to. The exterior front lights flickered and momentarily went off twice. There was a deep ditch extended to about 1/2 a lane with the other lane closed. If the lights remained off, wouldn't have driven the car. Same night - the usb port stopped working but came on again next morning. This is beyond dangerous and further measures will be taken if it's not resolved by kia.

When headlamps are in automatic mode, they will sometimes flicker on/off, or turn off completely until headlamp controls are manipulated (by turning headlamp power switch dial back and forth or by pulling/pushing low/high beam control). This is exacerbated by driving on an unstable road (I. E. A road with potholes or bumps), when actuating signal light controls, and when stopping. This happens mostly when the vehicle is going at speeds over 40 mph, but has happened in city streets at velocities as low as 5 mph. This has happened several times over the course of the last months, beginning around August 2018.

2014 kia Soul headlamps will randomly shut off and on while driving vehicle. When driving on country roads with no street lighting at night we must stop and play with the lights to get them to function properly. It is at the point where we can't drive the vehicle safely at night to avoid accidents. This has been happening for several weeks now even though I reported it as of 07/02/2018.

My vehicle recall is to do with electrical issue that not only may have affected the air bag, but the electrical system shorting that’s burning the bulb holders that holds all of the brake and tail lights bulbs on this vehicle. These brand new bulbs consistently burn or short out within 1 to 2 weeks. This expense has grown expeditiously over the years of ownership, and because there is nothing in the information center to warn us, we are constantly due to no fault of our own, unknowingly driving with no brake light. Having to drive regularly on interstate 4, with traffic stopping warning, this is a great safety concern. Brake light are very very essential driving in sudden stopping traffic. Kia should be liable and responsible for correcting this traffic hazard. Thank you notes.

While driving our 2015 kia Soul home at night on back country roads, the lights started flashing. Then they completely shut off. It continued to do this the whole drive home. This made a very unsafe drive home for our daughter. She had to pull over and call for us to come get her.
