This involves the mdps steering wheel coupler. Spoke with kia care center 12/20/23 amy said notice was sent to owners in 2019 I never recieved any notice about extended warranty. I have a very lound clunking noise in my steering wheel and afraid to drive vehicle I have owed this vehicle since 2016. Just purchased another vehicle in October 2023 because of the kia problems. Kia is not going to fix the problem!! and I have another recall on the car so it is parked at my neighbors house for fear of it catching on fire!! I am paying for full coverage insurance on a vehicle I can't drive or sell!!.

The engine is making a ticking noise and the steering wheel is clicking when I turned the steering wheel also had 3 open recalls. Took it to all star kia in san bernardino for 3 recalls and they refused to work on the vehicle because they said they were not comfortable working on the car, they also stated that the ticking sound was not related to the recall even though I told them I saw on the NHTSA website that due to catalytic coverter overheating it could cause rod knock. I even told them the recall was sc176.

Driving down the highway went to make a turn and the steering wheel came loose. I almost lost control and crashed. There's a loud clicking noise when you turn the steering wheel.

When driving or in park steering makes loud clicking noise if turned left or right. This happens at all speeds and in all driving conditions. It is steadily getting louder and worse. The noise is coming from the steering column area. Steering does not feel stable. There is a 2014 kia Soul recall that seems to be for same problem. This recall should be expanded to cover the 2013 models.

Last year I took my vehicle to billion auto in iowa city (2 hours from where I live) to get my recall serviced. At this time my vehicle was losing power. When I took it to the dealership they had it in and out in 15-20 minutes and they said only had to do an update. Which was irritating, considering I had asked them to check my catalytic converter and they didn't. Because prior to that a mechanic in my town thought something could have been wrong with it. Well here I am in 2020, and I went back to this dealership (this is the only kia in my area). Last year in may there was a recall for the mdps coupling. The letter also stated that they extended the warranty to 100,000 miles- I'm right around 96,500 miles so I am still covered. I called the dealership and asked to get it fixed since I was experiencing noises in my steering wheel turning left or right/ and when vehicle is stopped. They said yes, I spoke with the service advisor and he told me that I would be covered. So I took my car up there Thursday the 28th to get this serviced. Another worker told me in person my coupling wasn't that bad, and I could always come back in the future to get it repaired. He then further told me that my power-steering rack was making a little noise too, but that wouldn't need to be repaired for another 5-10 years. Then he charged me $65 dollars for a diagnostic fee, which is completely wrong. I called kia cooperate, spoke with numerous of folks. I was told on Thursday by cooperate that they called the dealership and told them my complaint. But there was nothing they could do. So I called cooperate back demanding to talk to my case worker, victoria. Which she hasn't called me back. I feel like they aren't taking me serious. I've had two past recalls on this vehicle, and wasn't handled appropriately. I also shouldn't of been charged a diagnostic fee. I want a refund as well.

Upon researching online what it could be I have discovered complaints all over the web of the same issue. People being told by mechanics if not fixed it may cause accidents due to steering failure, but that kia refuses to correct the problem or recall these vehicles despite being aware of the issue for years now.

The vehicle present a grinding noise while steering on any direction. While getting it checked at the local kia dealership they diagnosed the issue on the steering which was apparently part of a recall from kia, a few days later the issue on the steering was present again and the local kia dealership is now charging me around 1,900 dollars for the repair even though it all started trough a manufacturer recall. .

The contact stated that the dealership stated they will repair the vehicle under a repair as a goodwill relating to the recall campaign. The recall was not identified by the dealer as of yet. The vehicle had been not repaired as of yet. The manufacturer was not made aware of gyhe failure. The approximate failure mileage was 105,000. Gl.

Loud bumping noise in the steering.

I took in because steering to right, there is a clucking noise coming from steering wheel, my mechanic checked on found nothing stated was a dealer recall but there is one for kia 2012 Soul however many complaints about it. There is a recall on other vehicles.

The contact had to force the steering wheel in order to complete the turn. The contact also stated that the failure began approximately one month ago and occurred even when the vehicle was not being driven. I feel that this is a very dangerous problem with the 2012 kia Soul and have noticed upon researching online that the kia optima has a similar problem which was eventually recalled for repair.

As I was driving to work one morning, the steering wheel locked up on me while I was changing lanes. It was only for 5-10 seconds but it scared me. It was a dangerous situation. Despite the fixed recall of the steering coupler, this vehicle makes a steering cluck noise when turning which can be felt in the steering wheel. This especially occurs when first driving the vehicle. While under warranty the dealership reported either the sound was normal or they could not reproduce it. Now that it is out of warranty, the dealership says that the steering column needs to be replaced at my expense. A quick search shows that even after the steering coupling recall, this is a very common problem which can cause accidents.
