Wiper Problems of Kia Motor Telluride - part 2

I parked in a covered parking garage for about two hours. When I came out there was a crack about a foot long on my passenger side windshield. The crack quickly spread over the next couple of hours while driving almost double the size. There was not a rock that hit my car and it looks like tiny hold in my windshield very strange looking and then spread quickly. I believe my windshield is defective.

My 2025 kia teulluride that I bought on 10/21/2024 was sitting in my garage over night on 11/20/2024. The next morning 11/21/2024 I went to leave for work and notice a huge crack in the windshield. Goes from the driver side to about half way to the middle of the windshield.

The rear panoramic sunroof shattered without reason. It left about a golf ball-size hole in the middle and shattered the rest into small pieces that remained intact in the sunroof. The shade was open. The vehicle was parked and not disturbed when the incident occurred. If the vehicle were moving when this happened, the glass almost definitely would have shattered into the vehicle and landed on the passengers in the 2nd row. Kia dealership personnel inspected it and suggested a rock must have hit it but there is no evidence to suggest this happened.

Driving vehicle at 45 mph on secondary road. Small object impacted near the top of the windshield driver side - presumably from passing car. Within 5-10 minutes a small (4") crack appeared. Within 1 hour the crack was about 6". Within 2. 5 hours the crack had extended to about 18". Forty eight hours afterwards the crack has extended to ~24" horizontally at mid-windshield on the driver's side. Weather conditions were sunny, clear with temperatures in the low 70s.

I bought my kia Telluride on 10/25/2024. The windshield already has a long crack in the bottom going upwards. A chip will not normally extend the crack this quick after a purchase of a vehicle. Several others have reported the same from earlier Telluride models. This poses a driving risk especially at night with glare.

I was driving on the highway, heard a pop noise, assume a rock hit windshield but did not see anything, I got off on my exit, went into a store and came back out a few mins later and saw windshield had a long crack from the top down approx 14 inches.

Glass side window and windshield cracked I do not recall anything striking the window and noticed both after the car had been sitting for multiple hours. Manufacture claims impact, but it is the smallest of pin tip looking and hardly noticeable unless you run a tiny item across.

Continues to have issues with dealership to remedy/correct recalls. Have waited for 60+ days since recall remedy was initiated in August 2024 headlights continue to be a hazzard and due to this we had unfortunate incident of a deer running out and inability to see in the dusk of 6am due to lack of head lights. This has caused immense hardship regarding finances and maintaining a job as we are down one car and kia has not offered and:or received all parts for any repairs of the recall. Advised if we attempted to fix one recall (power seat) then our “ticket will be closed and you will need to pay out of pocket for the headlights”. However this is not consistent or within the regulations of recalls and good faith attempts. I have already contacted an attorney to pursue legal counsel. I feel kia will need to apologize and really earn trust from all consumers as Telluride has been an issue to this day, even newer models. Attached is allstate claim of the incident on 10/18/24 and attachments reflecting recall announcements via postal and several follow up appointments since remedy was offered, however no action nor diligence made to correct recalls or follow up as appropriately with us to keep us updated about parts etc. .

Windshield cracked.

Track for sunroof broke and will not properly open or close. I was able to close it back but will not touch until the part can be repaired/replaced.

When trying to open the sunroof, the wind deflector broke and knocked the sunroof off its track. I had to remove the sunroof and get it back on the tracks to get it to close and prevent water from entering the vehicle from rain.

A small rock hit my windshield on my way to work but did not initially appear to cause damage. Upon arriving at work I made no notice of any visible cracks or damage. Went in to the office, worked 8 hours, proceeding to get in my Telluride, removed my sunshade and noticed about an 18" to 24" long crack in my winshield running right down the middle. It was mindblowing how bad the crack was after a day that was not extremely hot or cold.

Our Telluride was less than a week after purchase and driving down the street when my wife heard a crack and a small crack appeared in lower driver side of the windshield. Before reaching home within the hour, the crack has spread across half the windshield. I dont believe there was a point of impact to cause the crack. It just happened spontaneously.

Windshield cracked all the way across from a tiny rock. So small that I didn’t even see it when it happened.

While driving at low speed through neighborhood streets, the front sunroof exploded out of nowhere. Safety was put at risk because of tempered glass falling on driver and passengers. Luckily the shade was closed. Has not yet been inspected by anyone. No warnings of the failure. Kia said they would not cover under warranty.

While driving in heavy rain with both windshield wipers operating properly, the right-hand windshield wiper suddenly stopped wiping, parked in normally stowed position. This incident could have been disastrous if this had been the driver’s side wiper since forward visibility would have been lost instantly, putting my safety and the safety of others at risk of major collision.

Front glass has cracked beyond repair twice in 18 months! the first replacement occurred on 04/2023 and the second incident occurred this week on 7/22/2024. The vehicle was bought new in 12/2022 and has had needed two replacements due to weak glass!.

Infotainment screen is blank most of the time. Backup camera works intermittently. Dealer confirmed head unit failure and stated software updates cannot be performed. Quoted approximately $7,500 for full replacement. Issue has been occurring for over two years, beginning while vehicle was still relatively new. Creates unsafe reversing conditions due to unreliable federally required backup camera display. Dealer classified as infotainment module failure. No recall issued despite widespread owner reports of similar failures.

I bought a kia Telluride on July 17, 2024. I drove it to michigan on July 18. During the trip, a highway pebble kicked up from the tire of a truck in front of me and hit the windshield. The chip from the rock cracked the windshield from the passenger side to the driver side of the vehicle in a matter of minutes. I researched this kia Telluride windshield incident via the internet, and there is evidence that it is due to manufacturer negligence. The windshield is defective, and a class action lawsuit has been filed. In 2020, kia even sent letters to owners offering to correct the problem. The windshield failed and it is available for inspection. The crack in the windshield is a visual impairment for the driver. The problem hasn't been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or mechanic. The vehicle component hasn't been inspected by the manufacturer or others. There were no warning lights or messages.

Came outside and windshield had spontaneously cracked. No chip. No spider web. The windshield had just had several huge cracks in the middle of the windshield in front of the driver. The glass just fractured. Spontaneously. In my driveway. Not sure if due to temperature -- I had driven for an hour with the ac keeping the car comfortable at 70 degrees and parked, in my driveway, in the sun, and yes, it is 98 degrees outside. But whatever the reason, windshield just cracked! kia dis-owning the problem. Despite many people here complaining of same problem.

The windshield on my 2024 kia Telluride developed a small crack while driving on an highway. There was no construction vehicles in front of us or any construction happening on the road and were driving with significant distance from the vehicle in front. The windshield cracked by itself and upon inspecting the crack it’s clear that the crack was more within the glass instead of an external element. This could be potentially related to the known issue with kia’s defective windshields for model years till 2023. I believe 2024 model year also exhibits the same issue. I request kia to look into 2024 model years and initiate a recall to replace the defective windshields.

Was driving on highway. Did hear a pebble/rock impact the right side of my windshield. No visible signs of a chip or damage. Finished trip. Hours later, took a short trip, still no visible signs of damage. 2 hours later, returned to car to find a crack had appeared that went from bottom right corner of windshield to about 1/3 of the way across. Don’t believe the impact should have been significant to crack the windshield.

Windshield cracked under normal driving conditions. The crack was not caused by a strike or impact of any kind.

Windshield got cracked and need replacement within a year.

Tried to open sunroof and it tore itself apart and tore itself off of the tracks and now I can not close the sunroof.

Cracked windshield, no impact.

The side mirrors don’t fully retract, when the doors are locked or unlocked via the key fob nor depressing the lock/unlock button on the driver door. The side mirrors also stopped working as the driver walks near the vehicle with the key fob. This is a safety issue because when the side mirrors don’t fully release outwards, the driver cannot see vehicles approaching or passing.

Windshield cracking with minor damage. Vehicle has 7,500 miles.

One morning when I went to get into my car I noticed a large crack approximately 12in in length across my windshield. There had been no noticeable chips in the windshield prior and there was no sign of being hit of any kind. I took the car to be looked at by a family member in glass and he said the issue is a manufacturing issue and the glass is thin and unsafe. The dealer said they won’t replace because it isn’t in the date range involved in the class action lawsuit. Since this I have had several more chips and the crack now runs all the way across the glass and extends up and down.

Purchased new vehicle (kia Telluride) 4/27/24 and on 5/1/24 the windshield has a crack on the passenger side. Not even a week in or 100 miles and already a problem, how is this not covered under any warranty. 3rd time driving the car. Awful quality.

Windshield crack developed from the lower left driver side, up and across to the middle of the glass right in the field of view of the driver. There was no chip, no strike of any kind. Simply pulled the car out of the garage where it is kept daily and went 1 mile to the mail box. The crack appeared on my return and is getting larger. Did my research and found out about the class action lawsuit. I've seen where it is very much a known issue. I will contact kia customer care next and then the dealership.

There was a small impact on windshield and huge crack appeared on it.

Driving down a road. No other vehicles on the road ahead of me nor coming from the opposite direction. There were no trees or structures overhead. The road had some dips, but nothing overly rough or upsetting. A crack appeared on the right side of the windshield and started to spread. There were no chips or other visible damage on the windshield previous to this incident. The crack as since spread and will have to be replaced.

Second day we owned this brand new vehicle we had a small rock hit the windshield at highway speed. The impact created an immediate chip and small star in the glass. Within 2 hours it had cracked over 6 inches. I have never had a windshield crack so fast and large after a rock impact. The size of the chip would not lead you to believe the windshield would crack. I have read multiple complaints of this exact same issue.

My windshield has cracked spontaneously and now I have a crack that is the length of a quarter of the windshield.
