Vehicle was parked overnight in garage. Though not noticed immediately, sometime during the morning I noticed my dashboard vinyl around the passenger side airbag looked swollen , and upon examination, it showed a split in the vinyl also. I took it to a reputable auto repair shop and was told it would cost thousands to fix, but that a dealership might be able to help. So I went to the local Toyota deal who said some vehicles had recalls but mine did not. As time goes on, the vinyl seems to have pressure building behind it, and the split is more obvious. I am afraid to allow passengers to sit in that seat. I am afraid if the airbag burst out while I am driving, I may overreact and wreck. This is not safe at all. Please help.

Takata recall; I have major concern relevant to not only the pass/side air bag, but to the driver side air bag also. I request both sides be replaced, unless you can provide data that will confirm there is no issue with drivers side air bag. Dealer/sewell advised my work would be done in sept 17. They have yet to set up an appt for my repairs. Pls help. Thanks.

Still no remedy for the passenger side airbag. This is ridiculous that it would take almost a year and still nothing yet! they seem to have enough airbags for the new cars they are making. Lets fix the bad airbags first before anyone else gets killed! come on NHTSA lets get on Toyota and make them get this done.

Takata recall. We received a recall notice via mail last week regarding the passenger side airbag. Nhtsa recall no. 16v-340. In the "important update" included with the recall notice were several questions and answers. Question 8 "my vehicle is involved in this safety recall but the remedy is not yet available. Will Lexus provide a loner vehicle until the remedy is available". The answer provides that "[t]o minimize risk, Lexus recommends that no passengers sit in the front passenger seat. If this recommendation is not feasible for the customer's personal or business needs, alternative transportation made be made available. " since receiving the recall notice, I have communicated with our local dealer, herrin-gear Lexus to advise that this recommendation is not feasible and for alternate transportation. The dealer referred me to the manufacturer. The telephone number provided for the manufacturer is not being answered and all other means attempted to communicate in this regard have not been successful. Request is made for assistance communicating with the manufacturer and that your agency require that the recall occur immediately and without delay or alternatively that the manufacturer be compelled to provide alternate transportation.

There is a crack on the passenger side airbag of my car. It is protruding around the area of the airbag. I took my car to the Lexus dealership on July 14, 2014, for this problem. Only to be told that I would need to replace my dash board and it would cost me over 2,500 dollar. I have never experience anything like this before ever. This is truly a very stressful and uncertainty wondering everytime I get into my car, afraid and hoping that the airbag does not exploded. Based on the recall of my car model, make I need to be contacted on the next action that needs to be taken. I would appreciate your response back. Thank you kindly.
In an accident in 2012, a car impacted this Lexus from right side and the Lexus shifted over the curb and hit the road side light post. The front driver side airbag exploded but instead of protecting people from injury, it damaged my wife's right knee badly. The knee bone was fractured and she had three surgeries in hospital. She had been on bed for half year before recovery. Now she still can't walk normally and feel pain from her knee.
My wife entered an intersection and was struck by another vehicle in the drivers side door, by another vehicle traveling at 30 mph. The driver's door window exploded on impact and she was hit with flying glass in the face. The driver's door was bent inward approximately 12 inches from the force. We believe she hit her head on the b pillar, because she suffered a concussion and a jagged cut above her left eye. She also suffered a broken left rib in the accident. The vehicle was repaired following the accident. The mechanic who performed the repair noted that there was intrusion on the drivers door, that the lower rocker had been pushed in, and that due to pressure on the b pillar the rear door did not open properly after the accident. This vehicle is equipped with side curtain airs bags which did not deploy during the accident. The owner's manual of the vehicle shows airbag sensors in all four doors of the car. Given the direct hit on the drivers door and the resulting explosion of the drivers window, we feel the side airbags should have deployed, which would have lessened or eliminated the injuries my wife suffered. I informed Toyota motor sales that I was unhappy with the airbag's failure to deploy, and was informed that since "the impact forces were not directed towards the b-pillar, deployment was not warranted". To me this indicates that there are not sensors in the doors as shown in the owner's manual. Additionally, there were forces exerted to the b-pillar in the accident, as noted by the mechanical inspection.
