I always use cruise control whenever I drive because this would always makes me put on a safety automatic brake whenever I get close to the car next to me. But it seems like my automatic emergency brake is defective which Lexus dealership denies on the inspection when I complain. A lot of times the automatic emergency brake does not work when I use it even when im backing up it suppose to stop but a lot of times im almost at thr brink of hitting something so I have to manually brake. I also texted this to my Lexus assistant manager in Lexus glendale California branch and had it inspected by them but they’ve sit my car in the dealership and at the end of the day told me that its normal. Is it normal to hit a car next to you when youre expecting your car to stop automatically and it does not stop? why do I have this feature and it doesnt work? I hope you can help me becaus ethis car is very expensive and yet it does not guarantee safety!.

8 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2012 Lexus ES350

Failure Date: 10/16/2015

Was moving slowly in traffic heading toward an intersection (around 15 miles per hour). When I tried to accelerate when two cars in front of me went through the intersection, my car zoomed to around 60 miles per hour (felt like the accelerator went limp). I pumped the power brakes and they would not hold (per Lexus because the car was going to fast for the air brakes). I went through an intersection and swerved around a car and was heading too fast in the lane of traffic that I was going to hit the car in front of me. I turned quickly into a parking lot looking for a place to crash the car because I could not stop it. A car approached me coming in the other end of the parking lot, and I slammed on the brake. When I did that the zoom went out of the car, and the brake held. There were 2 adults and 2 children in that car. (weather conditions were good during this driving period).

While driving on the interstate with the radar cruise engaged, we were approaching a slower car , another car was in the inside lane adjacent to us and before we could disengage the cruise our Lexus Es350 braked forcefully and the car following had to brake to avoid a collision. . . This is first hand information with no documentation. . . . We had just purchased the vehicle and were on our way home. . . . There are 3 distance settings for the radar cruise and I am not sure which one was active since I had no experience with it. . . . This radar cruise system is the default system which can be deactivated each time the cruise is turned on . . . . It is a package with the pre collision system which was recalled on Nov 3 2015 for sudden braking. . . .

11 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2014 Lexus ES350

Failure Date: 11/27/2014

I purchased my 2015 Lexus Es350 on Tuesday, November 25th, 2014. On November 27th, I was turning right into a parking space and the vehicle accelerated aggressively on its own causing the car to run over the concrete parking spot stopper and propel 200-300 feet until I hit a palm tree, stopping the car from entering a nearby lake. This caused significant damage to the car. My wife and I were in complete shock as I was unable to stop / control the car - I attempted to pump the brakes multiple times (leaving tire tracks) but the car continued accelerating until we hit the tree. We filed a report w/ the florida sheriff's department. Additionally, the day before (Nov 26th), I noticed the side mirrors on the car did not tilt properly when in reverse - the left mirror tilted down, the right mirror tilted up. This may be a result of the 'mirror switch block' but together with a few other mechanical issues, this leads me to believe the 2-day old car had some significant and dangerous mechanical / electronic issues. I have attached more information about the car and a picture of the parking spot where the acceleration occurred. Please contact me about appropriate next steps related to this significant defect.

12 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2009 Lexus ES350

Failure Date: 11/11/2014

I put the car on d to drive. I stopped at a red light, I brake the car to stop. When the light turned green, I pressed on the gas pedal to drive forward, but the car reversed without me putting on r. The reverse go was slow. When it reversed, I tried to stop the car car by pressing on the brake pedal, but I could not stop the car that way. I had to turn off the car to stop the reverse. The car reversed like that both times sporadically on two consecutive days - on 11. 11. 2014 and on the morning of 11. 12. 2014. My car was under warranty. I brought it to the service of Lexus at longo on the evening of 11. 12. 2014, which is where the vehicle was bought. They found no problem with the car, charge me money, and gave the car back to me the next day. I believe that the car needs more investigation. I am afraid of the sporadic reversal of the car while it is on d. I am further afraid that at high freeway speed, the problem it could cause is even more dangerous.

14 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2008 Lexus ES350

Failure Date: 06/10/2014

We currently have allstate for insurance and they have this item called the drivewise. This device fits in the obd ii port under the steering column. This device created multiple communications errors within the computers for the car. After reading up on this, it seems that many people are having this issue in many makes/models. The vehicle shifted funny into another gear on its own. The instrument cluster was not working and would not light up. The radio would not work at all and the sunroof was making a funny noise. The speakers were making a crackling sound and the a/c wasn't working. The heated and cooled seats were not working. After bringing the vehicle into the Lexus dealer they could see that the vehicle was having multiple communications issues between the computer systems. This device is a safety concern and we will not continue using it. Everything is back to normal now that the device has been removed. Had we not been proactive about this, the device could have caused an accident. Potentially harming someone. This is a very serious concern we have and I feel that someone should do more research on the product.

25 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2007 Lexus ES350

Failure Date: 10/12/2010

The car acceleration is out of control. This has been going on for 4 years now. My car was 2 years old when it started. I have taken the car to several Lexus dealerships and they played as if I was crazy or if I was imagining the problem. My daughter and I was almost ejected from the car while I was traveling at a high rate of speed. The car caused us to hit our heads against the windshield. I'm terrified of driving the car but I have no other means of transportation. The head mechanic at an alexandria Lexus told me that this has happened repeated on my make and model of car. He said, at one point Lexus was fixing the car but have since stopped. I told him this was not fair to me. I feel my life and my families life is in danger. I paid lots of money for what is suppose to be a quality vehicle and its totally unsafe. After speaking with the supervisor I begin to research my problem more. I'm not the only one with this problem. Does someone have to die before this problem is resolved? I'm sharing this information with my family. If anything happens to me in this vehicle, I want Lexus held responsible. I have called the corporate office and the young lady on the phone was rude and nasty. She told me she was Lexus and she was not going to help me at all. The rpm on the vehicle swing all the way to the right and the vehicle does not move. When the vehicle moves, it shots like its being fired out of a cannon. This is dangerous. I'm afraid!!! but I have no other car to get to work. I purchased a new transmission thinking this was the problem and I've purchased other parts. Nothing has worked. This is serious and someone needs to do something. I paid over $40k for a danger to myself and my family. I have two teens about to drive. I want my car fixed or replaced.

26 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2008 Lexus ES350

Failure Date: 06/24/2010

I own a 2008 Lexus ES-350 - it had a recall for acceleration problems which they adjusted the gas pedal. About 3 weeks ago I pulled up to the office at my apt complex, had my foot on the brake and car continued to go forward, went over the curb and knocked down the leasing sign. I put the car in reverse still with my foot on the brake and car continued to go backwards, then put car in neutral and finally car stopped. Lexus customer service and my insurance company examined the car and said there was nothing wrong with the car. If that is true why did the car continue to go forward with my foot on the brake.

30 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2007 Lexus ES350

Failure Date: 03/04/2010

I had two recalls done on my auto on March 4, 2010. These recalls dealt with the acceleration pedal and an oil line. Since the recall of the acceleration pedal was done my car on occasion has stalled when the pedal is depressed. It will hesitate while I depress the pedal up to an inch or so. Finally it will start to creep and then finally start moving. This has happened twice when I was entering an interstate highway and again as I pulled away from the curb of my house. Additionally, the transmission shifting is very erratic at times. Once again all of this started after I had the recall done. Before this my auto ran perfectly with no issues other than an occasional hard down shift when coming to a stop. I have been to the Lexus dealership in frederick, CO twice. They are unable to address these problems in a satisfactory manner. The acceleration delay is a safety issue and needs to be addressed by Toyota.
