38 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2007 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 03/01/2018

I am inquiring about why there have been so many issues with the Lincoln Mkx from year 2007-2009 ignition coils connecting to the pcm or computer and it has never been an recalled issued. I called an this two months ago and made a complaint at the 8883274236 number. I was never contacted. I had no issues with my truck then about last March I was on the expressway driving and just lose power. I went to autozone and was told that I had a misfired. I have been to two different auto repair shops tto have this issue addressed and change out the coils and both have advised me that the computer is not reading the coil, which is standard in my type of truck. I am making an appointment at the dealership this week to have my air bag replaced for another recall this is the second one since I have this car. I would like to have this matter addressed and I also would like a return call or email back in return to this complaint.

39 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2013 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 01/22/2018

So far this has happened now 4 times. While driving my care at 35 mph, my car will lose all power as well as the steering wheel will lock. My car will began to go in its own direction and I have to bring the car to a complete stop in the middle of traffic, put it in park and turn it off and start it back up again. I have two children and losing not only the power of the vehicle but also the steering is very concerning. I have contacted Lincoln and they have let me know that this is a valid recall for over 83,000 vehicles made in the same year but it is not on my vehicles recall list. I am very concerned about this.

40 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2011 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 12/04/2017

The throttle valve assembly was bad. The car stopped running when the wife was driving highway 105 at 50 mph. She turned on the flashers and was able to get off to the side of the highway after a short time the car was able to be restarted and driven back to the house. The same thing happened again about two months later. This is a very dangerous situation. The engine stops with no warning.

41 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2013 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 11/20/2017

At night, while at speed (60 mph) in center lane of a crowded highway during evening commute, the engine stopped, resulting in loss of propulsion, power steering, and power brakes. Fortunately was able to coast to a stop on the right shoulder without collision. Was able to restart engine normally and proceed home (about an hour) without further incident. Next day did some low speed (5 mph) testing in a quiet area to investigate possible causes. Could not replicate with any button on remote or steering wheel. Symptoms could be replicated by pressing engine start/stop button while in motion. This button is too high to hit with driver's knee and located where accidental touch by driver's arm/hand is highly unlikely. Both driver and front seat passenger say this button was not activated during the incident. No further recurrence in normal driving on the following day. No system messages on vehicle information display. Plan to take to dealer next week for further investigation. Mileage 55100.

42 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2007 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 11/19/2017

When we purchased the vehicle from valley Cadillac in roanoke va in 2014. We smelled something burning a few days later. We took it back to the dealer who kept it for over a week. They told me that they would have to send it to the Ford dealer because they couldn't repair it. I was never was told what the issue was only that it cost upwards of $800. Here we are and I was stranded on i81 because the truck lost power and started vibrating . It was towed to a repair shop and I am mortified at the findings. The coil packs were bad. This is caused by the pcm computer failure. That information was not shared at time of purchase as something that needs routine maintenance. In addition, the fix was to weld a cracked and warped coil pack vs replacing it and he bad computer. Here I am $962 later and still need to replace the computer. Had this been done correctly the first time, I wouldn't be here. I have a picture that I will upload later. Incidentally the exact same thing happened to my daughters 2008 Mkx the month prior.

43 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2012 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 11/16/2017

While driving on a city street, vehicle did not respond to the accelator- no power to the vehicle and a "wrench" appeared on the dash board. Power train problem. Take vehicle immediately to your Lincoln dealer. The car stopped and I was able to pull over. It seemed to be choking then stopped. Towed it to dealer - they ran diagnostic tests and found "nothing wrong with it". Two weeks later same thing happened. Fortunately I was on a city street again and able to move over. Had this happened n the freeway I am sure there would have been a major accident. Dealer again could find nothing again. Apparently the diagnostic tests are not effective. They recommended replacing the "throttle". That "might" be the problem. I am now very uncomfortable driving this vehicle and stay always in the right lane just in case it decides to die again. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle now. Apparently Lincoln expects an owner to keep replacing parts - even though they might not be defective - and hope eventually the correct part is replaced. I am wondering about all the electronic "progress" we have supposedly made, why defective parts cannot be accurately detected. Way too much unnecessary functions on vehicles - creating too many chances for electrical errors. Where does it end? the car has only 37,000 miles on it and was very reliable - until now- now it is out of warranty - each replacement part, I am sure, will be costly - this is going to be a guessing game from now on.

44 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2016 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 10/07/2017

We just described this dangerous, 5 times malfunction in a previous notice, today. My address is listed slightly incorrect and the 1st malfunction was oct 7, 2017, not the 2016, I see that was listed. It was purchased in 2016. The speeds were different. 70 twice, 55 twice and 50 once. The 70's were in heavy traffic on hwy 80 around chicago.

45 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2013 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 10/03/2017

Near the end of my 35 minute commute home I stopped at a red light on a busy city street. When the light turned green, I put my foot off the brake and placed it on the accelerator. . The car would not accelerate. The low engine pressure light came on. I turned the steering wheel to coast the car to the right lane. I put the car in park. I had the car towed to a dealer. The dealer could not duplicate the problem and the computer had no history of the error messaage. Very troubling. I drive the freeway to work during early morning hours. If this had occurred on the freeway, the car would've been an easy target for traffic behind me.

46 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2016 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 07/15/2017

Car is moving at highway speed and suddenly shuts off completely and stops. Luckily car behind was able to stop avoiding a rear-end collision. My wife who was driving denies touching any shifting buttons on the dashboard. However, due to the location of the start/stop engine button it is very possible to touch the stop engine button if trying to adjust the radio or climate controls which are located adjacent to the stop/start engine control button. This is a design flaw! while you must depress the brake to start the car, all you need to do is brush the control button to stop everything while moving.

47 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2011 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 07/12/2017

Even with meticulous maintenance my Mkx engine catastrophically failed. The dealership said the oil and water mixed and it was in no way caused by us. They are wanting me to pay $7000. 00 to replace the engine. We followed manufacturers recommendations for service and preventive maintenance. I believe Lincoln should cover this as this was no fault of us as the owners. We are the original owners and purchased it brand new. My wife was driving to bend, or from prineville, or on the highway and the vehicle lost power and then died. She was stranded on the roadside with no cell service.

48 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2016 Lincoln MKX

49 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2007 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 04/29/2017

I went to the Ford dealership on greystone in columbia SC to get my recall done. I was told that the part I needed for the recall was not in stock and that they would have to order it. After two weeks pasted I called to see if the part came in and I was told, it was on back order and they didn't know how long it would take to come in and that they would call me once it arrived. I never received a call.

55 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2016 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 10/18/2016

While driving on a highway in rush hour traffic, my vehicle suddenly lost acceleration and warning light/wrench symbol came on. I could not accelerate over 10 mph and limped to side of road. I turned off vehicle for about 20 minutes, after that turned back on and vehicle worked completely normal. I drove to dealer immediately, they replaced throttle body and updated software. My vehicle has 10,400 miles.

56 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2016 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 10/07/2016

The motor has totally gone dead in heavy traffic 5 times. The 1st 3 times they showed up on the inspection and a part was replaced. An inspection the last 2 times showed nothing. When the engine stops, I press n, then start and it runs, then d and it goes again. Meanwhile, twice on hwy 80 around chicago in bumper-to-bumper traffic at 70 mph, cars are slamming on their brakes and honking. 1. What action beyond the dealer need I take? 2. My insurance will not cover a multi-car accident from a defective car under warranty. Who does? 3. If the problem is not corrected how do I get a new one from Lincoln? it is a great car with about 33,000 miles. I prefer keeping it. My daughter said when it happened to her, she had just turned on the radio. Perhaps it is an electrical or computer defect. To my knowledge, the dealership has taken no action to contact Lincoln headquaqrters. It happened 3 times over a 2 day period in oct. 2017, (repaired) once in oct. 2018 and once in may 2019.

61 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2016 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 06/15/2016

My vehicle has been losing power while I'm driving, leading to some very close calls on serious accidents. The "check engine" light will come on, and sometimes the "hill assist" message will also appear. Once power is lost, the vehicle loses power steering and literally shuts down; the accelerator does not work. I have to basically limp to safety. I took the vehicle into the dealership, and they found nothing, sending me away only for it to happen again. All 5 times this has happened, the vehicle was in motion on a city street, as I have avoided highways since the first time it happened. I've done extensive online research, and have found hundreds of others who have experienced the same issue.

62 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2011 Lincoln MKX

Failure Date: 05/18/2016

While driving about 55 mph on the highway my car suddenly stopped. The engine was still on but I had no control except to coast to the side of the road. A sign that said awd failed appeared. I turned it off and restarted it and drove home. We took it to the Ford garage. They had no idea what was wrong since there was no "code". We took it home after about a week. In less than a week my husband was driving home from work and the same thing happened to him. After the Ford garage had it for about 3 weeks they called and said they were going to replace the throttle body. My husband said that is a design flaw and Lincoln's problem. They didn't want to call so gave us the phone number and my husband called. Their response was things fail in cars. My husband said cars shouldn't quit working while you are driving down the highway. Next day Lincoln rep said they would pay $250 toward the repair. We now have possession of the car but no idea if the problem is fixed or not as of yet. (not sure of exact dates. But it was in may and/or June of 2016).

On March 15, 2016 (1,065 miles), driving vehicle approaching an intersection on a busy street to make a left turn onto a major highway on-ramp, vehicle lost power while in motion and appeared to enter "accessory mode". Was able to bring vehicle to stop (in the middle of the intersection), put it in park and restart the vehicle. Brought it immediately to Lincoln service department. Service department had vehicle for two days and could not diagnose or replicate the problem. Gave the vehicle back to me without attempting any repairs. On may 14, 2016 (2,838 miles), driving at low speed on back roads, vehicle lost power again while in motion and entered accessory mode. Brought it immediately to Lincoln service department. It's happening more and more started about 3 years ago but when I took it into the dealer nothing they could do cause it wasn't happening then. Foot was off both pedals until I realized that the car was accelerating on its own at an uncontrollable rate and it was then that I applied the brakes. Car continued to accelerate as the brakes were being applied. Acceleration lasted approximately ten seconds and then vehicle reverted back to normal. Brought the vehicle in for service the following day (13may2014) and was told that there are currently no service bulletics or known safety issues with this make and model.
