Re 2002 Lincoln tc cartier l. The most useless and dangerous accessory on this auto is the adjustable brake & accelerator pedal. There doesn't appear that there is any way one may adjust either/or as they adjust simultaneously. Recently this "accessory" cost me $1000. 00. My wife was stopped, waiting on the light to change and had her foot partially on the brake pedal and when she push on the brake pedal, she also pushed on the accelerator causing her to rear-end the vehicle in front of her. Once the brake pads wear, the brake pedal and accelerator is at the same level. This is no joke. This has happen to me twice, fortunately in both instances there were no people or vehicle (s) in front of me. - ( no excuses, just facts). I would like to know how many others have had the same experience (reported to you)?
thank you. Please investigate this issue. Ezra rachal.

The contact owns a 2003 Lincoln Town Car. While the vehicle was parked, the contact noticed a leak behind the rear driver's side tire. The vehicle was driven to firestone and the mechanic stated that the seal failed on the rear driver's side tire. While the mechanic was repairing the vehicle, he noticed that the rear wheel bearing and stub axle were defective, which was the actual cause of the seal failure. As a result, the rear differential fluid had to be refilled. The vehicle was repaired and the dealer and mechanic were not notified. In January of 2009, while driving approximately 60 mph, the contact noticed a chirping noise when the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle was driven to firestone for a brake inspection and the mechanic stated that the brake pads and rotors needed to be changed. When the mechanic removed the rotors, he noticed that the rear ball joints were rubbing against the axles and needed to be replaced. Both of the rear end axles and ball joints were replaced. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified and the contact was informed that the VIN was not related to any recalls. He would be responsible for the repair costs. The contact has the parts and supporting documentation in his possession. The current mileage was 81,131 and failure mileage was 51,863. Updated 2/5/09

When it rains and I am stepping on the brakes while driving my wife's 2000 Lincoln Town Car, the car veers to the right. Ford has not published any technical service bulletins or recalled the brakes, however, the Ford hotline advises is mechanics to put on Ford premium brakes. I had on motorcraft brakes which are also sold by Ford.

The braking system has given problems for approximately the last 1000 miles or so. I have had the vehicle in for repair 3 times, and have complained to the service personnel that I have to stand on the pedal to stop. When the brakes are used for a while they tend to not stop the car, but rather let the car glide to a stop, and thus make it difficult to know how much distance to leave between myself and other vehicles, and pedestrians. I have come close on at least 5 occassions to either hitting other cars or pedestrians. The service personnel first said they replaced the brake pads, and that the rotors were warped. I then took it in again, and they replaced an abs sensor, next time they said they could not find a problem. The problem is intermittent, and thus unpredictable, and potentially life threatening. The service technicians find problems part of the time, and at others they don't. The pedal will push completely upward at times, and in essence the vehicle coasts to a stop, and is dangerous.
Steering wheel vibration during hard braking. Three different dealers have attempted to repair a total of 4 times: including turning rotors, replacing all rotors and all pads.
Brakes pad make noise, the rotor cause the vibration. Yh.
