While driving on the highway with very light snow falling and less than an inch of wet on the road, the "front radar blocked" message appeared! upon later research into the Mazda owner's manual it indicates the following systems were not functioning: Mazda radar cruise control (mrcc) Mazda radar cruise control with stop & go function (mrcc with stop & go function) distance recognition support system (drss) Smart brake support (sbs) apparently the location of the front radar is behind the emblem in the center of the grill. Mazda recommends that the owner clean off the emblem of any dirt or snow to correct this problem. Driving on the highway it is not practical to pull over and clean off the emblem when it will happen again in these conditions. This is a serious design flaw that can lead to accidents. The front radar should be relocated in a location not subject to road splatter. It could be located with the other sensors behind the mirror in the middle top of the windshield.

The "sbs" system is a dangerous add to the vehicle. It is meant to warn the driver about vehicles suddenly slowing or braking in front of you. Three times this system has caused me near collisions (the system applied the brakes hard and cause the wheels too lock not allowing me to take a safe defensive actions) when the system activated when the "danger" was clearly gone or I took safe action and changed lanes to avoid a collision. The above incidents involved me driving on surface streets at posted speeds of 35-45 mph. This all happened with in a 2-3 week span of time when I had not disabled this feature manually. The road conditions were dry, daylight hours and semi clear days. All the above incidents involved vehicles turning in-front of me. The last time this incident happened was 05/08/19.

Vehicle display on dashboard, steering wheel, shift console, audio controls, seats adjustments are not illuminated. The letters and numbers are not lighted. Unable to know which buttons to push because printing is so small and many controls are grouped too close together. Mazda cx5 owner's manual is for all Mazda models. There is no indication as to what feature is included on my car. This car lacks lighted display and contains small letters/numerals whileparked, moving or driving in day or night; Mazda dealers in two different towns report unable to improve situation "that's how it is" .
The vehicle gave three beeps and the break emergency light indicator came on. The car doesn't even have 11,000 miles on it yet and it is a brand new 2017. Luckily I was just leaving the house to go shopping and did not get onto a major thoroughfare yet. The manual indicates that I should not drive anywhere because the brakes can fail at any moment and to immediately contact the dealer, but it's a Sunday so I can't do that. The brake pedal sounds like air is coming out of it when I press it down and it has a lot of give.

Rear backup camera failed. Vehicle was started and shifted to reverse. Camera failed to display on dash screen as it normally does. Manually checked camera located center rear of vehicle. No signs of damage or loose fittings etc. Vehicle has not been involved in a crash. Stopped engine, restarted several times. Camera software did not reset if there is software. Camera does not come on. Failure of camera creates an unsafe condition when backing because the driver is accustomed to this original safety feature.
The automatic locking does not always work. I agree with complaints 1090985 and 10885776 in that it seems to be fine 90% of the time, which lulls you into a false sense of security. Now, I make sure that he lights flash as I walk away. I had turned off the chirp because it disturbs the peace, but may turn it back on, since walking away and looking back also has its risks. I could be walking away too quickly sometimes or something else in my pocket may be shielding the key fob, but if others are also experiencing this problem, maybe it is not a user issue. Perhaps the owner's manual should mention these possibilities, if they indeed are the cause of the problem. An unlocked car is a serious security risk.

Rear backup camera failed. Vehicle parked in home garage. Vehicle was started and shifted to reverse. Camera failed to display on dash screen as it normally does. Camera software did not reset if there is software. Camera does not come on. I came out to my 1 month old Mazda Cx-5 this morning to find the contents of my glove box and console strewn about the interior cabin. Clearly the car had been broken into, but there was no sign of forcible entry. I rely on the walk-away lock function to lock my car when I exit the vehicle (as described by the dealer & owner's manual). Later the same morning I tested the autolock after driving the car, and then putting it in park and turning off the engine. I walked away from the car with the keyfob in my handbag and had someone stand next to the front passenger door and check the car door handle -- the car did not lock. I called the service dept at the Mazda dealer where I bought the car and they suggested that the autolock might have gotten defeated in the onboard computer settings. I checked the settings as they directed and all of the autolock features were toggled in the on position. The service rep also suggested that the autolock will not function properly if you walk away from the car too quickly.
Automobile was almost brand new, didn't even have license plates on it yet, when I proceeded to back out of a parking spot. The vehicle backed out but would not go forward in drive. It finally lurched into drive after giving it more gas and revving the engine. I turned the vehicle off and restarted it, again same issue. Would not move forward in drive, even in manual shift mode. Had vehicle towed. Mazda stated they are replacing the entire transmission. I am reporting in case their are others having this issue. Very thankful it happened in a parking lot and not when I was trying to pull out into traffic.
