My driver side front headlight fan is malfunctioning. It stays on and makes a loud noise when the car is parked and off and the lights are still on. This is a known defect and my dealership is asking for 2k to pay for it. I am concerned the light will go out causing safety concerns. (TSB) sa01323 and 09-015/23. This should be recalled as is it not a general wear and tear issue, it is a manufacturing issue. My car is out of warranty but this should still be covered.

I am reporting an ongoing defect with the infotainment system in my 2020 Mazda Cx-5, involving ghost-touch inputs, system freezing, and random reboots. These issues began around the second year of ownership and have progressively worsened. The system constantly registers inputs that are not being made (ghost-touch), changes settings on its own; and occasionally- reboots while operating the vehicle. This makes it difficult or impossible to reliably use essential vehicle functions such as navigation, communication, and audio controls. The issue is particularly concerning because it creates a driver distraction and potential safety risk, as the system behaves unpredictably and requires attention while driving to manage or disable unintended inputs. I reported these issues multiple times to an authorized Mazda dealership while the vehicle was still under warranty. However, I was told no issue could be found or that software updates would resolve the problem. These updates did not fix the issue. On August 9, 2025, another system update was performed under the Mazda connect class action settlement, but the problem persists. The dealership is now requiring a paid diagnostic fee before proceeding further, despite the known nature of this defect. Based on my research and widespread owner reports, this issue is commonly associated with infotainment system defects, including screen delamination and/or failure of the connectivity master unit (cmu). I am submitting this complaint to document the defect and request further review, as it affects safe operation and driver attention.

Oil is leaking from the front timing chain cover and the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The issue was caught early enough before it was an acute safety issue, however this issue can cause smoke while driving and cause the vehicle to lose function while driving, endangering those in and around the vehicle in motion. The vehicle only has 35,000 miles on it, has been confirmed and documented by an independent service center, and this is a widespread well-known issue - the service center has had three vehicles in this week with the same exact issue, and Mazda issued a technical service bulletin detailing the issue and stating the root cause is a lack of sufficient sealant applied during manufacturing. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives - only a service center. There were no warning lamps or messages of the problem prior to failure - I was lucky to have this caught during a routine inspection.

Hello. I started hearing this noise on my car, it was distracting and found it that it only happens when my headlight is turned on. I believe that the headlight leveling motor went out, I have an appointment for next week to have it checked, but the more I reach out to others Mazda drivers, the more I hear this is a common issue. My car is brand new, well taken care of, this seems to happen a lot.

Cracked cylinder head probably caused by cylinder deactivation causing catastrophic oil loss on the highway. Upon researching this, I see that it is a known issue with Mazda. My car is now in the shop awaiting repairs. It only has about 35,000 miles on it. This is obviously a known defect and is simply not acceptable.

The infotainment system suffers from ghost touching. It has gotten out of control even after a “recall” fix at the dealership. Without being touched the volume changes, the stations change, the presets change, the car makes calls to my contacts. I am often unable to control the screen as it turns the car to max volume while driving. It is extremely unsafe, distracting and alarming.

Shifter switch has gone out and no longer recognizes the car is in park, causes battery drainage because car cannot fully turn off. Car not recognizing gears can cause car accidents and possible loss of life. This issue can be found online as a known defect in Mazda Cx-5 that has not been recalled. Vehicle has been inspected and issue has been verified. There were no warning lights, sounds or symptoms of potential failure before failure. Mazda has had recalls and service bulletins related to shifter/ignition switches, particularly for models like the Cx-5 and mx-5 (miata) in years like 2013-2019, concerning worn shifter switch units (part #kdy0-46-040) that can prevent the ignition from fully turning off in park, potentially draining the battery or causing accidental activation. While some were major recalls (like the 1. 4 million vehicle ignition switch issue in 2015), many were technical service bulletins (tsbs) for the shifter switch issue where owners sometimes got repairs free even outside warranty due to the commonality.

The infotainment system consistently changes stations and volume on its own. Knob will not allow you to make adjustments . Contacted dealer and infotainment is not covered under warranty , or extended warranty. Now the collision notification is not working. Warnings from system that it has failed and causes system to not register any movement . This has been going on recently. Now have to drive it as it doesn’t have the system. And have to use my apple play for radio as infotainment keeps failing to include radio and navigation told by dealer that the infotainment system is not mounted into the dash and sticks up , so the heat from sun and summer has fried th system. Has been ongoing for over a year just found site to report it . Will not buy another vehicle with infotainment system sticking up out of dashboard.

The lower control arm or axel on the front passenger side broke as I was backing out of a parking spot. It is still at the mechanic however that is what is required to put the wheel back on the vehicle. My understanding is that this is the second time I have had this problem with the lower control arm on this vehicle. That could be very dangerous if that happens while on the highway and I’m concerned there is a fundamental problem with this car if it has happened twice. The first time the car was only a few years old. It was around 2016 if I recall correctly and Mazda fixed it.
Low engine oil level light on about 1000 miles from last oil changed. Dealer fixed the Mazda recall code: p250f on July 30, 2025. Now is same issue of low engine oil level light on again on November 19, 2025.

The sunroof exploded normal temps in chicago IL halloween hight 60 desgres on while driving on hwy.
I was driving from rock hill, SC on October 17, 2025 on route 77 south when I heard an explosion while talking to my daughter at approximately 8:40 am. I stopped the car twice to check the tires. On the second stop, I lifted the hatch but did not see anything. I got back into the car and decided to open the sunroof slide just a bit. I opened it slowly and saw shards of glass and put my hand up through the hole. I closed the slider carefully. I continued to drive to the florida welcome center where I found a maintenance man to put duck tape over it. This did not hold. I was only driving about 60 mph as I was afraid that glass would fly out and harm the vehicle behind me. I decided to stop at my son’s as it was closer than my home. The next morning we purchased vinyl and duck tape to cover the hole better. I called my Mazda dealership while in SC. They said to bring it in for them to look at it on Monday. I called again at the welcome center to see if I should cover it. They said that was best. It is now Monday morning, October 20, 2025 and am at the dealership. Mileage is approximate.

While accelerating from a light that had just turned green, after passing through an intersection the vehicle seized up and came to a complete stop. There were no warning lights or any indication of a malfunction. The vehicle did not shut off, the wheels just stopped spinning. After a few seconds it began to accelerate again. It happened on a Sunday, I called the dealership Monday morning. I was not comfortable driving it after that. They came to pick it up and take it for inspection. Fortunately, no other vehicles were around. This occurred 6 days after purchasing it new. They had it for 2 weeks and said they could not figure what the issue was.
Drove 39 miles, around ~55 minutes. Parked the car, realized that I parked a little too far from the spot, car just stalled while rolling. Pressed accelerator, nothing. Turned off the car, tried to start again, it cranked but didn't start. Had to tow it to the nearest mechanic (total of ~2 hrs until my car got picked up and dropped off), mechanic calls me and tells me my car started fine. I'm thinking it could be 5321k recall but not sure as my VIN is not in the recall nor did I get any recall notice. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? - no idea. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? - got stranded for hours in the parking lot. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? - no has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? - no were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? - yes, fuel cap like icon and check engine light were on when trying to start the car after it stalled. The car would crank but not start.
Our sunroof exploded while we were driving on the highway. Glass shattered on us and fell while we were driving with a very loud explosive noise.
Several times and most recently today 8/18/2025 at 5:30 pm my 2022 Mazda Cx-5 accelerated while I had my foot on the brake and only the brake. Hard pressure on the brake kept the SUV from lurching forward. This has happened before but I did not think it would occur again. But it has and I find that this could easily cause an accident. The SUV in question has only 23,000 miles on it. An investigation and recall to fix the problem should be initiated.
My vehicle was damaged by an as yet determined electrical fire seemingly having originated in the passenger door speaker components.
While operating the vehicle it will randomly start changing infotainment system settings. The radio station settings change, navigation maps will pop up and unprompted phone calls will be initiated. Each action is followed by a “beep. ” very distracting and requires actions that take focus away from operating the vehicle.
Display screen (infotainment system) will randomly change the settings of my vehicle and call people or change display features or volume control or directions that is distracting and dangerous to me as I drive.
The infotainment screen in the vehicle suffers from phantom/ghost touching, rending a safety hazard as while following navigation it can act on it's own, becoming a large distraction.
Cx-5's infotainment system randomly, and without warning starts beeping and changing options while driving, a very distracting event. I tried to shut the screen off but it comes back on randomly and causes concern and distraction while driving, it has been happening for years now and of what I read Mazda will not correct the problem.
The “trailing link shaft” broke/split/tore apart at the right rear wheel. My car only has 16,500 miles. The vehicle was inspected by auto manufacturing dealer (Mazda). Mazda refused to admit it’s realting to manufacturing defect(s). I did not report it to police or my auto insurance carrier at that moment because I did not know what the issues were not until I dropped it off to my local dealer.
Infotainment system acts randomly, changing to max volume during driving, startling driver. Also changes stations, skips audio programs and distracting driver. Rear view camera has intermittently failed to show video feed when driving in reverse.
Critical malfunction- causing parking brake malfunction, anti lock brake system malfunction, dynamic stability control malfunction, disabled blind spot monitoring, keyless entry system malfunction, front brake / and obstruction warning disabled, keyless entry system malfunction, air bag system and seat belt pre-tensioner system malfunction. Vehicle not starting. /dead. Sat at dealership service where purchased for 6 days saying they could not test bc they did not have a battery tester- magically when I complained they found one- and say everything checks out ok. Vehicle is not safe!!!! if this malfunction happened while driving I could have been killed. The dealership refuses to anything g but say it’s ok- and it’s not a lemon. I cannot put my life at risk and they will not guarantee it will not happen again- or say why it happened- other than check g the battery.
My infotainment system regularly ghost jumps between screens and adjusts the volume of music (both on carplay and regular radio) by itself. The car turns off carplay regularly, including the navigation, which is dangerous when you are not sure where you are going. The sound is the worst part of it, as it will change the volume to unhealthy levels without warning. Even turning it off does not stop the jumping, as it turns itself back on. While mazada did provide an extended warranty for this exact problem, they will not cover the display which they allege is the problem in my car and told me it is a $600 replacement fee that I am fully responsible for, even though their screen does not work. This issue is all over the internet with Mazda refusing to fix it but it's an issue that can cause serious safety issues (with navigation failing and especially with unexpected volume changes). There is no rhyme or reason to when it happens and when it doesn't. It will be fine for a few days and then not work at all for a day. This has been ongoing for about a year. My car has about 55,000 miles on it.
The car has a lot of vibration when driving 60mph and above. Have had this issue looked at more than 5 times and they had my card for 1 month at the dealership trying to find the issue. This started back in February of 2024 and I have purchased 4 sets of tires and nothing makes the vibrations of the seat, steering wheel go away. Originally it wasn’t vibrating while driving back in February of 2025 only when braking to which I said to them I think it’s the rotors that have an issue. They never check the rotors and said it was my tires that were cupped. I put new tires on the car and still the same issue and went back to the dealership in April of 2024 and let them know it think it’s the rotors. In fact it was the rotors they were warped and they balanced the tires again. The dealership recommended resurfacing the rotors to which I had done. A couple of months later the vibration while driving started. Bought another set of tires had then installed, balanced and aligned and still vibration. I thought maybe it’s the brand so I bought another set of tires to which the problem is still there. Now besides the vibration while driving I have vibrations while braking again after the dealership put in new rotors back in Nov. 2024. When to the dealership on 06. 26. 25 let them know the vibration while braking is happening again and I think it’s the rotors. They check them and rotors are warped again about only 6. 5 months. The service manager said she will resurface them for me for no charge but then the service advisor said if they do that that the resurfacing is going to make me have to change the brake pads as I will end up in the red since my brake pads are in the yellow right now. I said then don’t resurface because I am not paying for the brake pads when that should’ve been done the first time the rotors were warped. I feel like I risk my life everyday driving this car to work 34miles one way.
Forward Smart city brake support malfunction camera sensors screen ghost.
The display screen in my Cx-5 has been regularly glitching for several years now. This "ghost touch" presses random buttons, makes random phone calls, turns volume up and down, exits applications, etc. This persists (both driving and parked) until I unplug my device, restart the screen, or restart the vehicle. This happens year round regardless of outside temperature. I am unable to use certain aspects of the screen, such as navigation, when this is going on. It is extremely distracting and unsafe. My eyes are drawn to the screen instead of the road, which puts my safety and the safety of my passengers at risk. When I first reported this issue to the dealer, they explained that I was outside the "limited warranty" for the display unit and that it would cost me around $1000 to replace. I declined. About a month ago, I received a class action lawsuit notice in the mail. This notice described my exact issues. I immediately made an appointment with the dealer to get my vehicle inspected and the issue resolved under the settlement. Upon taking my vehicle to the dealer, they explained that the settlement only covers the issue if the cmu needs to be replaced- not if the problem lies with the display screen itself. They inspected my vehicle and said that my cmu does not have issues and that my screen is causing the glitches. They refused to cover the replacement of the screen, even though the Mazda connect infotainment settlement describes my exact issues. Why isn't the settlement covering replacement of the screen if that's where 99% of consumer issues lie (according to the dealer)? I was instructed by the dealer to contact Mazda corporate directly, who read me a scripted disclaimer saying Mazda is not providing assistance while the settlement is ongoing.
The touch screen infotainment system has the well known “ghost touch. ” while I am driving, the touch screen can at random, activate buttons, make phone calls, change navigation systems, and activate any other features through the display. It can at times create an extremely dangerous situation while I am driving because the drivers attention is suddenly and at random being taken from the road. This happens with increasing frequency and there is no way to deactivate the touch screen. Mazda is aware that this issue is widespread and has done nothing about it, leaving it up to drivers to decide if they want to shell out hundreds of dollars to have the issue fixed or continue driving the vehicle under dangerous situations.
While driving on a 75 degree and sunny day my sunroof exploded. There were no cars around that could have thrown debris up. Luckily I had the shade cover closed or I would have been showered with broken glass.
Keyless entry stopped working, key fob battery replaced as well as car battery. Coolant issues. Heater core and sensors.
My vehicle has had the "ghost touch" issue that has been reported on many Mazda vehicles and even had a recall for the 2014-2016 models since I got the car in 2018. Mazda has refused to do a recall or cover repairs even though it's still being reported as an issue on multiple different models of Mazda. This happens on a constant basis and just keeps getting worse. Here is the original recall notice from NHTSA: https://static. Nhtsa. Gov/odi/tsbs/2019/mc-10164268-0001. Pdf.
