Vehicle pulsates while braking while driving fast or at slower speeds. The steering wheel does not shake. The brake pedal does not pulsate. The vehicle brakes were changed several times with new rotors and pads on all four tires. I noticed there was a recall on lower control arms #15v-451. It only was inspected at the time of recall but never changed. Could it be possible that they are now worn and can be changed per the recall.

Control arm/ball joints- had to have replaced again on 9/21/18 after both being replaced on 1/12/2016 as part of a recall. Feels like the car is trying to steer itself and not very safe to drive. And then have to pay for another alignment which I just had done as well. There should be some type of warranty on a recall repair.
There was a recall on control arms I have had the repairs done 3 times I believe these are causing other damages to the car! that cannot stay repaired the same things continue to break on this over and over!! I want to get rid of this car. I owe way more than it's value. However I can't trade it in because of these recalls and it being unfixable.

Takata recall I had to put in my VIN to make an appointment for recalls & was sent a message back stating there are no recalls on my car. When I looked it up on your website it says my car is in recall for airbags and lower control arm. But according to the Mazda dealer & the Mazda website I don't have any recalls on my car!!! so to date I haven't been able to fix the items that are being recalled. When the recall for the airbags came out I contacted Mazda & there was no recall. Again when the recall was expanded I contacted Mazda. My vehicle was not on the list. I went to your site to see what you had about my car & discovered you have 2 open recalls on my car that as far as far as Mazda is concerned I have none. Yet you have on your website that I do so I am trying to get to the bottom of this. Does my car have any recalls or not? I also want to point out that there was a recall on the transfer case on my car. Now when I bought the car the reason why I bought it with high mileage was because the car was supposed to be certified preowned. I was given the 1 year warranty. Then I was told that the recall on the transfer case would be valid until 100000 mile. So when my transfer case needed to be repaired at 92000 miles. I contacted Mazda & after months of back & forth I was told I didn't qualify for them to take care of the repair even though it looks like a monster took a bite out of the transfer case at 92000 miles because according to their records my car was not certified preowned. Iasked to reconsider becsuse the transfer case wss completely destroyed st 92000. They said they could not make an exception with me becsuse then they'd have to make exceptions for others. I was told to get in touch with the dealer I'm getting in touch about that this week. There is something odd about all of this. How come Mazda doesn't have the recalls for my car that you have?.
The contact owns a 2010 Mazda cx-9. While the vehicle was undergoing routine maintenance, the mechanic noticed that the control arms were loose prematurely. The mechanic replaced the control arms and the vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 15v451000 (suspension), but the contact was not notified by the dealer nor the manufacturer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.
The contact owns a 2007 Mazda cx-9. While the vehicle was being repaired per NHTSA campaign number: 15v451000 (suspension), it was brought to the contact's attention that the tread on the two front tires was worn due to the failure of the lower control arms and ball joints. The contact was informed that the tires needed to be replaced. The tires were not replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 141,000.
2011 Mazda cx-9. Consumer requests rental vehicle until passenger airbag inflator replacement and front lower control arms recall notices repairs are complete.
I had just come out of a traffic circle and entered a straight stretch when I heard a loud crunching sound. I would estimate my speed to be between 15mph and 20 mph . The vehicle shook but I was able to move forward but had difficulty steering and could not brake. The car sputtered to a stop then I heard a hissing sound. When I got out of the vehicle I saw the right front wheel at a right angle to the fender and fluids leaking onto the pavement. The wheel was no longer attached. The tow driver reported that it took him one hour to load the vehicle onto a flatbed because the axle kept popping out when he tried to move the vehicle. Ridgeway towing transported the vehicle to ingram park Mazda, san antonio, texas. The tow driver took photos before loading the vehicle but I do not have them. The left and right lower control arms had been replaced in July 2016 under recall 8515g.

2013 Mazda cx-9. Consumer writes in regards to front lower control arms recall notice and vehicle sun visor issues. The consumer stated the sun visor no longer stays in place.
In 2016 I got a recall #8515g and that was performed by Mazda dealer on March 16 2016 (see doc attached) after the recall we have starting hearing a horrible noise, and mostly in winter, so I have took again to Mazda to inspect twice but they have hear that noise and have found anything. This past weekend they were more deeply on this inspection and what they found is the rf low control arm joint (ball joint) has play rf outer tie rod end has play too (see attached report from Mazda) the costs estimates to fix this problem is about $587 plus taxes. . What they say about the noise is probably comes from this issues which was supposed fixed by the recall but after 20000 miles this issues is coming again. . What they say this is not normal kind of this repairs could be longer than 10 years with not such a issues. . My concerns are the safety on my family, now my wife and my grandkids are driving this car everyday, and I'm putting them on a unsafety situation by this recall. . . .
I was dropping my children off to daycare turning into the parking lot and going over a bump when I heard a loud "pop" toward the front of the car - the car completely stopped dead - I got out to find the front right tire was cocked hard left and was off its control arm - some fluid was also leaking out of the axle area. This happened the Monday morning after I received the recall notice from Mazda this past weekend! I had the form in the car to call for service this week. I have called the service center but they have said they will not be able to look at the car until Thursday - now I will have towing and rental expenses connected with this defect. Fortunately no one in the car was hurt or that it didn't fail on the highway!.

Ball joints warn had to replace both front control arms-work at Mazda deal was told very common problem I don't know why there isn't safety recall on this.
We were coming home from our son's baseball game when this incident occurred. There were 2 adults and 3 children in the car at the time of incident. We were traveling in the middle lane of a 3 lane highway and were going about 65 mph, which is the speed limit on this highway. Out of nowhere, there was a very loud "pop" sound and you could feel the car shift a little bit. I was not able to control the vehicle at all. I put my foot on brake lightly to try and bring the car to a stop without slamming the brakes since we were on highway. The car briefly jerked to the left and then drifted to the right. It continued to drift to the right and I was able to bring to a complete stop about 2-3 feet from the edge of highway inside lane. The weather was clear and it was just starting to get dark. There were plenty of other vehicles traveling on highway at the time, but this happened at just the right time when there were no other vehicles to the left or right of us. If it would have happened 15 seconds earlier or later, it would have been impossible to avoid hitting another vehicle because I was unable to control where the car was going. It was definitely a very scary situation and we feel extremely lucky. Since the car was undriveable, I had to call aaa to come get vehicle and take to local auto shop. They told me the ball joint completely snapped/separated and I would need new tie rods, ball joint, control arm, axle, quick strut and tire on front driver side. This was the second time this happened within 5 month period. The same thing happened to front passenger side 5 months earlier at low speed in a parking lot. We had repaired and then it happened again to the other side in this situation, which was much more dangerous situation. In both cases, the ball joint completely separated.
I was making a right turn from a parking lot onto a road with my two children in the car when a loud crunch happened, the vehicle jerked left while still moving forward and I was unable to steer or break. The car came to an abrupt stop and I couldn't get the driver's door open. I walked around to the front of the car while in traffic and noticed loose parts that had been ejected from the wheel, leaking break fluid, and the driver's side front wheel was no longer attached and had wedged under the car. The car was unable to be moved out of the road thus creating a traffic jam. The tow truck driver said the control arm was broken and that my girls and I are lucky that we were not seriously injured. The car was towed to the Mazda dealer service department 4 days ago and I have not heard from them. Is this something that is covered under tread liability laws? I have photos of the car/wheel that were taken at the scene if needed.
Was driving my car with children in it when the wheel fell off and axel cracked. It caused front end damage I couldn't get out of the driver side door because it wouldn't open. Had to pay to get all of that fixed. I just receive recall 8515g. My issue with this is that the recall does not correct the issue. The reason for the recall is that water get leak into the suspension and cause corrosion. Replacing just the control arms and ball joints does not prevent this from happening again. Water can still leak into the suspension and the new parts could could corrode, become loose and cause the same thing to happen again but this time it could result in more dire consequences. We were lucky I was traveling at a low rate of speed the first time it happened. This is forcing us to buy a new car when we still owe $8000 on the Mazdaz we want to be reimbursed for this and the accident we had and the risk it out the lives of me and my children in. Furthermore Mazda said there is a shortage of parts which means they won't replace if there is no sign of looseness. This is rediculous as my crash occurred a few months after being inspected. They are endangering lives.
I had been hearing a knocking noise in my car when I went to make left or right hand turns for approximately a week. After having my mechanic investigate he took a look at the ball joints, they are 'non-serviceable,' which means they are a sealed unit. He said from what he could tell they were fine. Later that day I attempted to pull out of a parking space. My wheels were spinning in the snow, I got out and took a look and my front left tire was off! the ball joint was no longer attached the the car. The only thing securing the wheel to the car was the tie rod. After having it towed to my garage both lower control arms were replaced on the vehicle (one per side) along with the cv joint. They were replaced with Mazda parts. Inspection on the passenger right side revealed there was barely any grease in that ball joint. I had luck on my side that day otherwise I am certain someone would have died.
The contact owns a 2007 Mazda cx-9. While making a slight right turn at approximately 5 mph, an abnormal sound came from the front passenger side of the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the inner and outer tie rod, ball joints, control arm, and axle needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 89,099.
While driving went to make right turn to have car serviced for unknown clicking when I would only make right turns. When turning into parking lot I heard a loud bang and auto was immobile at that point. I exited and found left front tire turned sideways. I had various damage to left front wheel area having to replace ball joint, lower control arm, bent axle and rim damage. I was also inform from irwin Mazda that right ball joint had issues and I also had that replaced.
The contact owns a 2008 Mazda Cx9. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph, the front driver's side tire came became detached from the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where the technician diagnosed that the lower control arm and ball joint were corroded. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was unavailable. The approximate failure mileage was 102,112. Pam.
The passenger front wheel disconnected from the lower control arm, resulting in immediate loss of control of the vehicle. Fortunately the vehicle was being driven thru a residential area at a low speed. Two months prior to the failure, the car had a front-wheel alignment, and the mechanic assured me that there was no detection of the imminent failure. I certainly do not wish to have this occur at highway speeds. I had both lower front ball joint/lower arm assemblies replaced. I still have the failed part in case you are interested.
Upon entering a parking lot at approximately 15 mph the vehicle made a noise, skidded to a sudden stop, and then would not move. I exited the vehicle and immediately noticed the front passenger wheel sideways resting against the inner fender, along with several metallic parts and fluid on the ground. The car was towed to the dealer where we bought the vehicle when new, and where we always have it serviced . The tow truck driver had said the axle broke and we were lucky it did not occur on the highway 15 minutes sooner. The dealer replaced a left broken ball joint, axle and control arm, as well as broken fender linings and moldings. This cost us over $2000. We had complained to the dealer several weeks before about a noise while turning the vehicle, but were told we only needed an alignment. I now believe the dealer did not properly inspect the ball joint, which was already damaged and failing. Twelve months after this incident the left control arm and ball joint required replacement. And eight months after that the driveshaft, transfer case and transmission all required replacement, costing us another $5000 in repairs. I am suspicious that all of these failures may be related to the initial incident when my cx-9 skidded to the sudden stop on the left broken axle. But when I contacted Mazda regarding all of these issues my case was completely dismissed as the vehicle had over 100,000 miles and was out of warranty coverage. I have never submitted a complaint until I found out there was an investigation into 2008 cx-9's with broken ball joints, exactly as what occurred in my vehicle. My vehicle has been regularly serviced at our dealer, and I really do not believe the ball joint should have broken as it did. I am grateful we were not traveling 60 mph. I believe this is a serious safety issue and am extremely disappointed with this Mazda vehicle.
I had brought my 2008 Mazda cx-9 to the dealership for service before a long road trip. I mentioned that the car was pulling severely when turning or rounding a curve. I thought that it needed an alignment. While I was waiting at the dealership for my car to be repaired the technician came to get me to explain that he could not let me drive my car because I could be killed. He stated that the ball joints had separated from the left and right lower control arms. My husband questioned the technician about the likelihood of this happening and the tech told him that it was wear and tear. We found this hard to believe! we felt at this point there was nothing else to do but to approve the repairs and paid the $883. 66 plus labor!.
